Along the lines of the "movies" thread - over the past 3 years or so there has been a number of TV shows which convey - or touch upon - issues that are popular on NR.  It would be interesting to list and / or discuss these episodes and shows here, as well as some of the subjects they contain.  I will start with a few:

24

Popular series, probably needs no real introduction.  Centres on Counter Terrorism Unit in LA, and how they deal with major terrorist threats.  Previous series have dealt with assassination, nuclear attacks and biological attacks.

24 seems to straddle the fence between being scare mongering propaganda and being informative and awakening.  For example, series two was about a nuclear attack on US soil by terrorists.  Part of this showed high level government complicitcy within the event.  Torture also heavily features within the series - in the aforementioned scenario, the head of NSA was tortured by government agents in order get him to reveal information.  Other aspects include government involvement in terrorist acts as an excuse to go to war, media "co-operation" and many other such issues.

However, the other side of 24 is that terrorists are nearly always foreigners – specifically Arabs.  A number of characters are Americans that are not happy with the consensus beliefs of US Government.  They are portrayed well - and often their opinions come across in an unbiased way, but it is always implied that they do not have the countries best interests at heart - or are "mis-guided".  Though this aspect does have another side in that the show often implies general consensus is just as biased as those that are "mis-guided"...



Carnivale

Carnivale is a fantastic show set around the 1930's.  It is very occult in its focus, and has a hell of a lot of symbolism – far too much for me to pick up on it all.  This show is about a coming conflict between agents of dark and agents of light.  For most of the first series, it is quite ambiguous as to which characters are bad or good.

There is an insipid darkness about the series, and though it is biblical – it is also demonic and perhaps transdimensional.  Out of all the series available at the moment I would seriously recommend members at NR to give this a try (plenty of places to download it from on the Internet).

It’s very slow paced, so that makes it difficult to give a story synopsis, but it touches on Knights Templar, possession, demonic spirits, and psychic abilities.  All portrayed in a convincing and often real yet consensus reality defying way.

There’s 99.9% worth of junk on TV right now…so I avoid it all, I can’t even remember the last time I watched live TV.  But there are some gems of TV shows about, it’s worth watching some of these for sure…

Notice how everyone is so busy watching 'reality TV' shows that they are missing the reality of being shafted by the US administration ... or those pulling their strings?

Indeed - "reality TV" would fall into that 99.9% junk catagory.  Seems odd people would rather watch strangers live their (faked) lives on TV, rather than watch something with a bit more deeper meaning.

Or SHOCK! go live life rather than watch it on TV.  But then we all know the pitfalls of what TV is about.  But if taken in the context of watching certain movies - some TV shows certainly are worthwhile - whether people switch off when the TV is on is a whole different subject...

Talking of movies - I watched "The Debt" the other night.  An English movies and presented in a different way to usual.  On the surface it was a typical story of an ex-con out of prison who has to go back to 'work' to get his son-in-law out of debt rather than see his daughter suffer at the hands of the bloke his son-in-law owes money to. 

However this movie is 'written' mainly as memories of the people concerned as they review each separate segment of the story. 

Add to it a copper who's son is being bullied at school, an ex-lover/teacher/solicitor and her patsie junior solicitor who's cheating on his pregnant girlfriend, 'princess' daughter, stupid son-in-law, mafia money lender and the main protagonist - ex-con who doesn't want his little grandson to suffer like his daughter did. 

It very clearly shows how the illusion of Matrix mindset and what people crave for PLUS their taking actions to 'prevent' their fears from manifesting - actually results in the micro world (that this movie shows) being so corrupt.

Like I said, down to earth subject, but handled well and presenting interesting and thought provoking material. One could extend this concept to see on one level, how corruption infiltrates petty minds, and drives the running of the world.

A nice quote from the end of series 1 of Carnivale.  This is literally in my opinion the single best scene of any movie or TV format put on film.  I will see if I can make a clip of this available to people.  Truly I can't recommend this enough.

It's all downloadable; so no need to go near an idiot box at all.

This is spoken by a Priest (catholic interestingly enough).  Thousands of people have begun to follow this man; who was once inauspicious...now he is almost likened to a second-coming.  The fact he is Dark (i.e. evil) and manipulative - yet still perceived as being a man of light is played out very well.  The show is very ambiguous. 

And again with the Catholic theme (catholic priests ushering in the end-times!)

This his the Priests speech to his congregation...

"The clock is ticking, brothers and sisters, counting down to Armageddon. The worm reveals himself in many guises across this once great land; from the intellectual elite cruelly indoctrinating our children with the savage blasphemy of Darwin, to the craven Hollywood pagans, corrupting them in the darkness of the local bijou, from the false prophets cowering behind our nation's pulpits to the vile parasites in our banks and boardrooms and the godless politicians, growing fat on the misery of their constituents. Not sure how much interest there is in this thread.  Next to no replies but a lot of views - so I will keep on writing.

Carnivale ended its second season recently - it apparently had viewing figures that almost matched HBO's other top shows.  However it looks like the series may get cancelled.

Season two carried on the themes of season one; during the last six episodes things began to become very clear - the message behind the show is essentially that christianity and catholic relgions are essentially the church of the Devil.  I have looked about a number of forums; and it appears the show has actually got a number of people actually thinking and going out and researching.  It seems to have awoken a fair number of people - getting them to reconsider consensus reality.

So - the fact that the show may not return to TV; well entirely understandable then.

Hi Marcus, I found the surrealist tone of Carnivale to be most interesting when I happen to come across it a while ago.
I almost forgot about it, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Yep Carnivale is worth catching up with again if you can.

Just found another show starting in the US tonight.  http://www.nbc.com/Revelations/

Called Revelations, is about the approaching End Times.  Seems to be a very strong theme at the moment in both TV and Cinema.  Of course the series has a nun as one of the central characters.  I am interested to see how they will portray Christianity in this i.e. the religion that is our saviour - or the religion that has been twisted beyond recognition.

I notice the site also has "Believer", "Non-believer" and "The Signs" sections...

The mere fact that the mini series Revelations begins this week and the Pandemic Flu is about to be released...if it hasn't already....is very suspicious and in my opinion obvious foreshadowing.  Then to make matters worse I caught an episode last night of the Sci Fi show First Wave which is basically a show that us point blank that the Annunaki & the NWO ruling elite  are running the show.  The episode was about a Flu Strain getting out into the public that could wipe out millions.
