Topic: A dream
Hi,
I've always had strange dreams, dreams that would drive ordinary people mad. When I was younger I had regular visits to a psychiatrist because of my dreams. However, I must say that last night was one of the most intense dreams I've had in a long time.
It was far more "normal" than most of the dreams I have, usually they are very surreal, very abstract compared to modern day life, but not this one. It started with me and my partner Sarah going to stay at a retreat of some sort, like an orienteering adventure where you would explore this large wilderness area with obstacles set up. It was rather vivid, I could feel the sun and the wind, smell the trees.
As we ascended the hill the obstacles became almost like a gauntlet, things to climb, things to avoid, there were many other people around, it was a large event. When we reached the top of the large hill after what seemed like hours we were herded into a building by self-confessed "communists". I think this name might have been in my dream for the simple reason that my friend called me a commie in jest yesterday.
Nonetheless, we were herded into these rooms where all of us were to be "re-educated". There were stern emotionless looking soldiers at each doorway. This part of the dream almost passed like a montage, we'd all be sitting at tables listening to a "commie" lecturer tell us about how evil our current way of life was, all our belongings were stripped from us, our hair was all cut to the same length etc. We all shared bunk cabins, had to all walk in regiment everywhere we went. Apparently this was the same all over the world. Everyone was being drafted into conformity.
This is where things get slightly weirder. I've done alot of lucid dream training, experienced alot of synchronicity, and I've always known that if I just "go with the flow" and, as Morpheus explained to Neo, make things happen instead of wanting them to happen. I started to think this way within the dream (bear in mind I was convinced that this was real, I was awake and it was happening). I decided to take action. I stood up and walked past a guard without him so much as raising an eyebrow. I then proceeded down the gauntlet again to the bottom of the hill. By this time my hair had re-grown to it's proper length (long), my clothes were my old ones again, and I was starting to realise what was happening.
Then the dogs were sent after me. I think I woke up here and got myself a drink (it must have been about 4-5am because I could hear my brother leaving for work on his motorbike). I reflected on what had happened, and fell back asleep after realising it was just a dream.
I found myself back in the exact same dream.
The dogs were still chasing me, guards now too, so I applied mindfulness, became lucid once more and shifted the scene to a busy and expensive looking airport (don't ask why, it just happened). People were casually milling about, and for some reason I was in one of those tunnels that go from the airplane to the terminal, being chased by more guards and dogs. I had pretty much settled into dream mentality now, fully lucid, so I was in complete control. I was doing backflips, sideflips, floating around and generally making a mockery of my would-be captors. It was great!
Everyone in the airport was astonished, all the people from the re-education camps were standing there wondering what had happened. Then everyone burst into applause.
It was quite strange, the parts where the "communists" had taken over the entire world did chill me a bit, especially since the whole thing was so vivid. A happy ending though (albeit with a little ego gratification), brought about by keeping mindful and realising it was only a dream in the end made it a night I'm not going to forget for a while.
Any other experiences like this? Anybody think this may be a premonition?
