Which was something about this sincretic myth being presented to explain dynamics of initiation. Something awfully clever, I'm sure.

--- I've just started reading the "Bringers" stuff... yeah, I know, I'm way behind in channelling stuff. But I noticed:

The anti-manicheism of the pleiadeians really reminds me of magickal doctrine, and they stop just short of saying "Every man and every woman is a star."

Using and not avoiding the complementary nature of "light" and "dark", avidja and awakening; and use of cyclicar conceptions of time to oscillate to awareness seems common in magickal doctrines I've found. Most of the ones I've studied, however, come from the same source, more or less. A.C. was in the stella matutina, as was Regardie, Fortune, and their heirs, The Ciceros and Butler respectively. Well, I'm not sure what Butler joined or didn't join, but he studied under Fortune.

I've seen a couple of Vayne's titles on amazon, but wasn't sure I wanted to check him out or not. Thanks for the preview.. I'm interested now.

I've been ambivalent about the chaos magickians maintaining that a purely casual, entirely personal symbols-system is fine... I always felt it was throwing the baby out with the bathwater. OK, so "the rituals of the old time are black" but I thought a decent knowledge of them was neccessary to be able to create a decent original synthesis/sincretism.

I am reviewing that standpoint and may revise it. Your image posts and snippets are part of that paradigm widening. Thanks.

Preliminary Re-Vision:  Archetypes will burst in on us even if we TRY to remain ignorant. The essences of all the old symbol-keys have leaked into so much of our modern myth-making (do an anime survey!) that chaos magick is *sigh* probably very practical indeed. My attachment to classic "symbol aesthetics" was a bit sentimental-nostalgic and not very progressive. We have big, mixed lego kits now and shouldn't fret if our constructions are harleqin-colored, as long as they stand.
