The best is AOL Active V ­rus Shield(it is the Kaspersky with another name)

The comparatives gives only an idea, but in the real world environment
is a bit different and Kaspersky is the best, believe me...

Avira has a stronger heuristics and can detect more unknown virus, but
KAV is updated almost every hour and is almost always the first to detect
the newest v ­rus, so KAV updated is the best of ALL!!

HI!
Poor, almost never gets the NEWEST virus, the new ones that left the “oven"
and are still hot!

Kaspersky is very efficient as it is updated almost every hour, and for that and other
things they tend to be first to catch the newborn nasties.

Do not miss the opportunity to have a FREE KAV, the AOL thing...

For free A/V, I have heard Avast and AVG are good from other geeks in the past. FWIW.

Pictus, I was going to look at those comparisons but the link is resulting in a 404 not found error.

For paid-fo A/V, I have consistently heard Kaspersky's is good, and recently I have heard a lot of praise for NOD32. Running anything AOL branded scares me by default :-)

I never liked AVG or Avast!...
But I have to confess that Avast! is improving.

The paid versions of KAV, AVIRA and NOD32 are the best in
my opinion.

The link is fixed, keep in mind that:

That software is KAV!!  AOL just put a name on it.
AOL sucks big time, but that software is an exception as it
is not AOL made, it is a simpler version of Kaspersky rebranded.

Looks like AOL isn't offering that particular anti-virus program anymore.  And sadly, it looks like A/V is no longer free, either!:(

Wait-- that link to anti-virus shield works now!  Looks like I was wrong.

Before I install it, can you use two programs at once?  I'd like to keep Avast! running while I see how well the other one works.

One more edit:  Seems my connection keeps timing out when I use the download button.  I can't figure out whether there are too many people trying to download, or the link is no longer good.  Can anyone else use it?

You can install more than one AV if only one of them stay resident.
Better for you to unistall Avast! Before installing KAV.

Forgot to say, do not install the AOL tool bar and you will not have any
AOL advertising.
