...And don't even get me started on female circumcision, widely practiced throughout Africa and much of the Middle East. Some do this based on social "norms" or customs that haven't been questioned in hundreds of years; other do this for religious reasons (primarily amongst Muslims.)

Talk about yer lack of "sensation!" When somebody slices out your clitoris, you can never have an orgasm (except if you're lucky, perhaps a kundalini style of whole body orgasm, which can be achieved.)

In many villages, women are seen as "unclean" or as "witches" if they don't have this done. It's also seen as a sign of "chastity" and being a "proper" woman - 'cause, Gods forbid any woman every enjoy herself during THE ACT.

Families gang up on girls when they are about 10-12 on the brink of puberty and forcibly do the surgery to them, no anesthesia, of course, and not under clean conditions.  And thus new generations of women are indoctrinated into the neverending hatred of self-hatred and sexual fear and repression.

Makes me wanna go nuclear on somebody.

I'm with you 100% on that one!  I was thinking about female circumcision too, while reading through this thread.  The entire subject makes me want to grow horns and spit fire!! mad

Dr. Harvey Kellog, a USA doctor suggested to Americans that they apply PURE CARBOLIC ACID to the clitoris, alongside his heavy support for male circumcision, all as a means to reinforce the idea that masturbation was "unclean" unholy or whatever was in his head.

He is the same doctor that developed a wheat and grain type of cereal, to add fiber to the diet. He was REALLY ANAL, literally, he used a machine to pump 15 or more gallons water through a persons ass to cleanse it. His brother is the one who actually marketed/sold the cereal though.

Some tribes also sew up the labias so that they can't have sex until their new husband cuts the stiches...:mad:

Male or female, it is genital mutilation. My own parents (moreso with mom) can't accept that it's wrong to do this to a male, at the same time saying female circumcision is the real crime...

Oh. My. God.  .....  *steam comes from ears*  ......  I'm aghast.  Simply struck dumb.... can't even formulate words to say how unbelievably draconian that is.... any, and all of it!!

I would say, "Boycott Kellogs!!"... but that's stupid, and decades too late and utterly besides the point.  "Doctor", no less.... sshhppphhfffttt!!  *shakes head, muttering curses*

BTW, Free Your Mind, imho, your mother's horribly misjudging the situation.  There should be no double standard when it comes to the health and happiness of one's (and anyone's) children, which includes the well-being of their genitals (male or female)..... How damn absurd!!... Everyone who gives a damn knows that childhood sexual abuse is wrong and abhorent, but when it comes to mutilating the genitals of their own children, many Americans (et al) give their babies willingly, paying someone to do it for them!!  God love it!!... Somebody get me a damn billboard so we can SPELL-IT-OUT!!

Some time ago, I worked in the newborn nursery as a newbie RN.  I STRONGLY feel it should be absolutely mandantory for the mom/dad/couple to witness a circumcision LIVE.  Back then, it was proclaimed that young'uns "did not feel pain"  WTF!!!!!!   All I could think of was- where did you get THAT idea- of course, LIVING beings feel pain (beings IMHO do not exclude rocks as well)- Like what sort of DUH don't you get??????  .  It was not uncommon for new doc's to botch this procedure from time to time.  It was difficult NOT cry.  mad

Needless to say, I don't work this particular area of nursing anymore, but hope that humans will someday get out of this mindset of "chimpanzees with machine guns mentality" out for ever.

This was a very emotional experience, tears freely ran down my face (so what ).  roll - And continue with hospice clients too this day as well.  Were all in this together in retrospect...YEAH  wink

I'd try my best to console the baby, cuddling him and saying "you're perfect and special," all the  while humming a soothing tune and praying for the pain (physical, emotional, psychic) to go away.  It was truly a trying time; so called modern medicine lags so far behind to what should actully BE.

What kind of ass-backwards thinking is that? That a baby doesn't feel pain, my mother was told by a "doctor" that they won't feel pain on a certain day, like 7-8 days after birth, but that supposedly coincides with the jewish custom. None of it makes sense...

I have seen a video of a circumcision, it was horrible to say the very least. I was only 13-14 when I was doing this research online, very traumatic. They have them on Google video now I think.

I think this is a major sign of how peoples basic common sense has been replaced with Coca-Cola advertisements and catchy tunes...

The practice as a blood ritual..... that one never crossed my mind.

I saw not long ago a story about an infant who apparently contracted herpes. The parents of the child filed suit against the moil or equivalent, because this less common ritual/sacrifice involves the removal of blood from the wound by the mouth.

I have no idea if this is real, can anyone confirm this?

If it is in fact a real practice, then that would have to be the most heinous and grotesque "procedure" I have ever heard of, and to me it reeks of demonic perversions and otherwise.

Yes it's customary for the "mohel" to suck the blood and spit it out as a 'cleansing' ritual as well.

Honestly, there should be a public service announcement or some shit... or a Discovery or History Channel show about the 'tradition' to try and educate more of the 'sheeple'.

Ah!... I did not know that cumin was used for stanching blood, as well as being a tasty culinary ingredient.  Will have to put that one to the test the next time I sever a major artery while dicing onions!
