"Self-seeking flatterer" How does this compare to self-esteem-seeking patronizer?

Don't get a big head, though.

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

.... I'm confused big_smile

So are you calling me a sychopants or ? big_smile

The difference, the way i see it between a Sycho and a "normy" is that Sychos have less discreetness about what they do. Most people invariably insult other people to gain a higher position. People here do it as well and only a few people dont do it. And those that dont are VERY rare. I for example in a way insulted my teacher in my post and thus tried to raise myself higher than she is. While I dont suck up to you in agreeting with all you say i, like almost every human i've ever met. Try to do their best to please other people as far as possible without compromising their internal ideals. So if i disagree with you i will say i disagree with you however, i wont say that you are a *bleep* and a *Bleep* and a very big *bleep*. So in a way i try to maintain a relative peace. This is what almost all pack animals, humans included do. On the higher levels animals like humans try to suck up to the boss and beat those underneath. Or try to help the pack as a whole. Both are behaviors are virtually the same to the untrained eye. The only marginal difference is the "width" of the ring that you dont insult. You can make fun of Bush, you can make fun of groups of people. But when you make fun of your immidiate subordinates you raise yourself higher than them. So the only difference between sychos and normies is that the normal social sense prohibits harming or insulting your own pack or group. A twisted social sense has a smaller sense of self and thus only protects himself and not his immidiate network of people.

My take on the matter atleast.

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

Hkelukka, I am joshing about all you sycophants. In social circles it is best to recognize the presence of the Divine spirit in other people. A true sycophant does NOT have a resonant empathy for others, so they feed the ego. This makes them likeable in the short term. The only people who benefit from this sort of feined flattery are people who do not "feel" (resonant empathy) and therefore require massive amounts of adulation and attention.

I, for one, do not enjoy false acclaim, ego-stroking, or delusions to help me get through the day. I want to view myself as an independent thinker--this may be my own delusion--therefore, I get uncomfortable when someone is fawning over me.  I believe we are happiest when we feel included, but not elite. Those who want to build you up beyond themselves are often setting you up. Those who build up your confidence sincerely would also wish the best for you, so they may not want to falsely inflate your ego. In some cases  people may be checking you out, therefore, I believe it is best to be yourself, and if that means rejection--then keep looking for your niche.

I have appreciated the times when I was fired*. In a short amount of time I discovered that these employers didn't want a positive productive employee, they wanted a Mr. Smee. I thank them in my heart for pushing me out the door, where I was able to grow stronger rather than more dependent-- trying to please people that could never appreciate my spirit and motivation is a waste of time, anyway. I never wanted more than to be a useful team player.  I simply was not aware of the rules of the game that were stacked against authenticity.  Growth requires that one face discomfort.  The Smees of the world loose their connection to the collective soul of mankind; they become dead spirits--the walking, smiley-faced sycophants who identify not with their authentic nature, but image. Therefore, to them, any lie is acceptable because nothing has meaning in a world were one's own spiritual path has been compromised.  Image management becomes reality to them, and authenticity is suspect. I don't want to be on that kind of a team anyway, so-- "thank you very much for the opportunity to grow".

Remember, in most cases, the boss was a sycophant to get where they are. In order to function a sycophant has to despise the victims of their control. Don't for a minute believe that a company family is directed by a loving and compassionate executive parent.  Spot the sycophants(Smees) and you will find Captain Hook. Smiles and images, Peter.

* I have never actually been fired-- just not needed any longer due to regular boom cycles. I was let go once as the employer said, You are too slow". I responded with the "thank you" statement...and within two minutes the contractor responded pleasantly, (now think about this one for a few seconds)--"If you ever need work, give me a call"

Well, duh!?

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

Which is why i pointed out that are you calling me a sycho. If i were to simply take things said to me as a joke without being absolutely sure if it is a joke then i would simply be putting up a face and not act for real. The thing about sychos is that they almost never intentionally get upset, they always label others as being upset. And i have no problem with admitting that if i am called names i do get upset. Then again it is a joke so no harm done *laughs* big_smile

Just making sure n all that big_smile

A light hearted gib usually hides a burdened heart beneath it all.

Anyway. No harm done  ^_^

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

The weakness of sycophants is that they cover their insecurities. An authentic human cannot hide their spirit nor their insecurities. A sycophant can play the sympathy role with composure, but get too close and they don't want to get into details about themselves. "Keep it light and shallow".

People of depth have moods.  A sycophant is a master of image; often a non-threatening image. They never tip their game tactics. They are calculating and looking for the opportunity to let you look bad.

I like to kid around, but when I sense that someone is taking it the wrong way I try to open up the dialog--I want to show my vulnerabilies. This is too painful for a sycophant or malignant narcissist. They are people of pretense and have no intention of revealing themselves, especially not to themselves.

*Nod* which is strange, that i often get named the psycopath or the sychopant when i get emotional. I am a very emotional person by heart. Far more so than i am even now. ^_^

Either way, as i said, no harm done *fluffily bounces away like a male rabbit thats gone through the carwash* big_smile

I think the weather just changed.

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

Smiling through clenched teeth. That is a common signature of a pissed off sycophant. When they get extra friendly all of a sudden, they are just winding up for the strike. People who see all smiles as just smiles get duped. Covert hostility tries to mask itself through lavish praise or unquestionable agreement. That is how sycophants play their game.

Acquiring fringe knowledge is like digging for diamonds in a mine field.

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

Could someone please give me a basic doctrine to combat these clowns and remove them from my life? Anything really as I'm dealing with one of these specimens at the moment. I posted about the individual months ago and it was widely agreed that he is an OP/Agent. I like what Tom said about not giving anything away. Once angered, these people turn into nasty bastards and make life more difficult.

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

You could just beat the hell out of them or shoot them.
A pie in the face in front of an audience is always a fun thing.
There are books on dirty tricks you can play on them, but then you're
using your own energy and they're still draining you.
Might give you a little satisfaction, though.
The best defense is being able to spot them before they can cause
you grief.
Read up on OP's and sociopaths and their behaviors.  It'll help you
discern them from normal people.

I have found that they are calculating. Any indication that you are a step ahead of them will be trouble. I tested it today and had immediate response to the negative.  I cannot use any authentically positive empathy at all without getting   reprimanded. My client told me that my work was brilliant and beyond any comparison--then sat me down and scolded me about my shortcomings as a businessman/artist/carpenter.

I know what bothers him the most--he wants full artistic control--and does it with his control of money and basic decisions. (actually the easiest part of the job, I think.)

I let a sycophant feel I am listening to their every command. They test.

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

Love!

I know it sounds simplistic, but love can heal a sycophant.  I have an old friend that has strong indications of being a classic example of a sycophant. In the past 6 months I have been communicating, mostly via email. I see steady progress in voice and attitude. I believe my re-connection with her has induced an awakening for this friend.

I may be the only physical realm tool that could have helped. It has been all about synchronicity--profoundly.  Lately it has been so regular and miraculous that I feel as though I am living a waking dream.  In the past three weeks people have told her that she looks like a film actress from a particular film. She watched the film again and has found she now views it from a different perspective. She said the details were incredible--almost scary. I then watched the movie myself- it was wonderful. The story was touching, and realistic for the details which connect the two of us; the personalities are already characters which match us. The movie carries a  theme that has been with us for the past 4 months. This was played out in strong synchronistic clues to the miracle which is happening in our lives.

"The periwinkle dress". This dress goes back 15 years before we met. Now, in the movie it shows up again. In 1948 before we were born, something was set in motion in the Kosmos. We are now experiencing 4 months of clues (synchronicity, grace, telepathy, precognitions) that would make anyone question reality as it is normally perceived. I've documented much of it through the convenience of the internet.

This morning I better understand the concept of time travel.  I have gone into the past and changed it, to speak metaphorically; I have reached back and saved a friend--from what,  I have not determined, but she says I have saved her. I think I now know an aspect to the universal secret of the Christian passion. From my friend's perspective--I have brought her into a new place: marerophilia.

I am slowly and methodically revealing to you how to recognize and manifest what I believe Jesus meant when he used the concept Heaven. This may not be something you don't already know.  Please hang with me and ask what questions you choose, and I will try my best to share my new found insights.  These may simply be new to me, so please bare in mind I am documenting a journey of self-discovery here at NR. I will soon post a rough description of marerophilia for the purpose of discussion. I would love some help with defining what it is, and how we relate to this more complex emotional state.

My friend sent this to me to tell me her heart is healing and she is in love with life everyday now. She is in Heaven, she says. My wife has told me recently that I helped her with a drastic awakening. Her heart is also healing rapidly.  I hope others can benefit from this part of my journey I have been attentive to the past 4.5 years. We're here to help each other along the path.

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

This sounds great titmouse, even inspiring.  A challenge would probably be to 'bring someone back' or effective help them with their journey in life without the helpee becoming addicted to the helper.  To help in such a way so they are inspired and able to go within; to be a catalyst in this regard.  Was or is this in your mind when going through this process, or did you have any challenges with it?

Marerophilia: how would you describe this?  (I searched for a definition but found none...)

cheers

Re: Sychopants: self-seeking flatterer: Mr Schmee

The word "Mareophilia"  is new. In order to define a complex emotion that has been experienced regarding passion, love, and uncertainty, I tagged this to make a distinction in the english language for a kiind of love that would relate more directly to what we are experiencing (my friend, my wife, and I).

My old "best friend" texted me today in response to my suggesting a children's book title called "Punkie and the periwinkle dress".... In her response she said, "I think you should write it. The theme:'Things are not always as they seem' ". I can tell that she is beginning to reveal her true self. I am not sure if she ever really saw herself in the same light as she does now.  A friend from the past can rekindle a wonderment if it is done with love, kindness, and forgiveness.

Sycophants were human once--remember that. No matter how the delusions have been built layer after layer, just the right love can reach deep within and touch a hardened heart. I do not leave myself out when I use the word 'sycophant'; I use it kindly, for I , too, could be a sycophant to some people and not be aware of it. I think it is relative to the crowd one associates with. My friend is a very sweet and intelligent person from my view--I simply am trying to discover where the boundaries are in regards to the pajorative use of the term. "If not for the grace of God, there go I".

She said a few months ago, "You reached out to touch my hand...and instead, you touched my heart". I told her I would never let go again.

I have been gentle and considerate. I respond only after she responds. I know her in many ways better than she knows herself. Synchronistic events, including a few times when I prepared her for these things, have been the key.  I can not tell you how delighted I am to connect at this level again. She and I are soul twins.  We have the particular fortune of almost daily psychic connections, even though we are 2000 miles apart. I had originally asked her if she was willing to take a walk on "the road less traveled". Since that time she has witnessed enough clues that she is strongly amazed and awakened to synchronicity and psychic phenomena that follow us around.  She now calls or emails and asks if I sent her a sign. This "other" source has been the energy that binds us. Amazing when your life goes to this level! The greatest joy is when you have a twin to share it with.

Imagine when more people learn how to love better!  I hope my writing will inspire others to direct their attention towards things inner and find the richness of self discovery. This is a guided tour, yet no one can be your leader. You are your leader--others can only share the love and passion revealed.

I will soon post my description of Marerophilia after I feel comfortable with the response here to these posts. I will put some things together the best I can--yet synchronicity has lead me to this point; I must respect the will of the Kosmos.
