Re: Which books changed your life?

Finding a Catholic Catechism that my parents had hidden away had a fearful, dry-mouthed impact on me as I was already being subjected to fear and guilt conditioning of the utterly strict Lutheran church. Its' not only Baptists that frap you upside the head with their bibles, believe me.
We also had a copy of Dante's Inferno in the house and the pictures gave me nightmares for years. (I know I chose to experience all this stuff for a reason...I don't 'blame' anyone! smile  )

Now the stuff that threw out the Life Lines and helped me find JOY and MYSELF: (in order of 'enlightenment.')

Autobiography of a Yogi...... by Paramahansa Yogananada
Seth Speaks .........channeled by Jane Roberts
The Nature of Personal Reality ........channeled by Jane Roberts
The Oversoul Seven Books ............by Jane Roberts (all three)
You Can Heal Your Life ..........by Louise Hay
Bringers of the Dawn, ...........The Pleiadians, channeled by Barbara Marciniak ... this book just blew me away...I would get so excited I could only read bits and pieces at a time...I felt that I found 'home' and my overall life and its relationship to the world finally made sense smile And it became more interesting and exciting!

I had a similar feeling.  I felt like a cosmic drama was being presented that was big enough to move around in.

Re: Which books changed your life?

whitley striebers works are what first made me question this "reality". From his books I went on to read other things, such as Fingerprints of the Gods, by Graham Hancock, and that led me on many years of studying ancient history, theories on our origins, and so on.

Re: Which books changed your life?

One book that really crystallised my thoughts at a certain time was 'The Perennial Philosophy' by Aldous Huxley. It is an anthology of religion that is arranged into sections that show the higher message that unites all the major religions. It is packed full of obscure quotes from all the major religous works and stresses things like the importance of meditation over dogma. At the time of reading it i knew that no one religion was completelly correct in its teachings and this book really helped me to understand the connectedness of them all.

The greatest catalyst to change comes from accepting thyself

Re: Which books changed your life?

It took me a long time to fogure out which book I wanted to post in this thread.   I could have easily put up one of the Pleiadian channeled books I've read but decided to list another one that had an impact on my life that was kind of like a revelation.

I had asked my HS and angels for help with discovering my Soul purpose in this lifetime and was lead through a series of coincidences to this book, "Soul-Purpose: Discovering and fulling your destiny" by Mark Thurston, Ph.D.

This is a small paperback, which only cost me $6.99, but had a big "life changing" impact on me.   I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to get a much clearer idea of what they are supposed to be doing in this lifetime.   It's interesting to see how when one moves in this direction, whatever it may be, towards your life purpose, things just fall into place, and you find yourself doing a "job" or whatever, and you just love it.

So if you always wanted to know.... this is the book.

Re: Which books changed your life?

After you've read The Fountainhead (the love of greatness), you should really read Introduction to Objectivist Epistomology. It will not make you sane (no book can do that), but it might help you perceive more accurately how insane The Matrix has made you, so you can start reversing it.

And any discussion of great books would be incomplete w/o The Chalice and The Blade, by Riane Eisler.

We are all Kosh.

Re: Which books changed your life?

"Love is Letting Go of Fear" (G. Jampolsky; ISBN: 1587611961)
Short but powerful book of easy to learn lessons.

"Stranger in a Strange Land" (R. Heinlein; ISBN: 0441788386)
Probably the best work by Heinlein, make sure to read the uncut edition.

Re: Which books changed your life?

First and foremost : "The knowledge of reality" by a swedish esoteric philosopher called Henry T. Laurency. A book that utterly changed my conception of the world.

Other books of great value:

"Timaeus" and "Phaedo" by Plato.
"Ariel" by Andre Maurois.
"Posthumous poems" by Percy B. Shelley.
"The biggest secret" by David Icke.
Not exactly a book but a great influence nonetheless; most of the lyrics by anarchopunkers Propagandhi.
"1984" by George Orwell.
"The hidden agenda" by John Pilger.
"Power of now" by Eckhart Tolle.
"Relativity, Philosophy and Mind" by Paul Brunton.
"The divine comedy" by Dante Alighieri.
A couple of the books on NDE's by Raymond Moody. Can't remember any particular titles...

It is the same!--For, be it joy or sorrow,
The path of its departure still is free:
Man's yesterday may ne'er be like his morrow;
Nought may endure but Mutability.

Before reading another book, check out this article. It's great! I've realised after reading this short article that I am not applying a lot of the stuff I am reading. I could have tonnes of great books but what's the use if I only apply not even 50% of it? ----  http://www.trizle.com/how-to-change-yourself/
