Re: Where is everyone from, and how old are you?

Just recently turned 31 years of age, and I live just outside of Bradford about 20 minutes drive away from Ayahuasca. Born and raised in England, I recently returned here after spending over five years in various parts of the United States. I'm probably just passing through England on my way to someplace else, though God only knows where that might be just now.

Re: Where is everyone from, and how old are you?

Age is such a weird thing.  I can't believe I'm supposed to be "30."  I don't feel it.  I have the life experience of a 30 year old, but I don't look it, and I feel like I could be 21, easily.   People often think I am anyway, so I may as well be!   When I was 25 I was getting hit on by highschool boys.  Now that I'm 30, I look 10-15 years younger, EASILY, then many guys who are my age.

30.......so strange.

A girl I once worked with flipped out (as many people often do) when she found out I was supposed to be 30.  She couldn't believe it and swore that "There's something going on with people nowadays!  People aren't aging right!"   big_smile

Seriously though, I wonder if she was right.  Is there something going on with aging?   What if the people we think look normal for their age actually the abnormal ones, aged beyond what they should be, possibly due to toxic chemicals and other modern lifestyle hazards?  Maybe the "young ones" are really the normal ones?

Or not........maybe the young ones really do have something goofy going on?

Has anybody ever encountered this, or does anybody have any feedback on this whole thing?

Several months ago I saw a woman in the hotel lobby I worked at.   I was watching her, interested.  She had long blonde hair from the back, wore jeans with a tailored jacket - professional-casual.  When she turned around her face revealed a woman in her 40's.  Her whole demeanor combined with her dress though was cool, I don't know, just the vibe she eminated.  Somebody who was confident in who they were and knew a few things about a few things, but was relaxed and pleasant looking all at the same time;  older, but still pretty and youthful.  Right then and there, I wanted to be in my 40's, be like her.  smile  big_smile   Skip right on over the whole 30's thing, be like, 42 or something.   Age = wisdom, confidence, knowing who you are.   I know it sounds weird.  It's hard to explain the feeling of it all at that moment in time.  I think it was that she exuded a good combination of traits to have.   I think I'm just tired of looking 10 years younger than I am, feeling young and silly, and being treated like a 19 year old by people who misjudge my age based on looks.   "Wow!  I thought you were about 20, maybe 21!  I'm sorry!"   blah. blah. blah.

Age is weird I tell ya..........

Re: Where is everyone from, and how old are you?

No doubt! When I was younger people always thought I was older because of my seeming maturity level or some of the wise things that came out of my mouth. That doesn't mean I didn't have my childish moments, or still don't. But, my companion here is 22 years older than I. But, it doesn't matter. I still can look at children and see an ageless being in there, alive and young yet wiser than most. I do not relate to age. Old man, indeed. @#$% 'em. I believe ageing has alot to do with energy levels, but man diet sure seems to affect some people severly. All that being said, Lyra, it is a hang up. Don't get hung up on it. Enjoy your health and vitality. It's obvious to me the rest is coming to you.

Re: Where is everyone from, and how old are you?

I'm  42 , tall, dark and skinny fast metabolism type.
I come from Worcestershire in England.  Since my 20s i have not really celebrated my birthdays as they just seem like well NOW.
For a while i have been trying to get away from the notion of calanders dates and times and the naming of days and no longer wear a wristwatch.
No wonder i am always late for work smile
Thook i agree with you, my 3 children are 8,7 and 5 and they are all much smarter than i am.

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

I feel exactly the same, and nobody ever believes I'm nearly 30. Whenever anybody asks my age, I always say "How old do you think I am?" and the vast majority of people say 21, 22 or 23. Occasionally I'll get a 25, and once in awhile I'll even get an 18 or 19. When I tell people I'm nearly 30 they're always "what? no way, you don't look anywhere near 30!"

Anyway, it's all good. It's never bothered me how old I look or how old I actually am. It amazes me how many people I know that are dreading turning 30. I'm quite looking forward to it for some reason.
