Re: Indications of Intelligent Design

The most important development was Syria again, as anticipated. Prodi announced he had achieved an egreement with Syria to deploy UN troops along the Lebanon-Syrian border ( part of the Israeli-Lebonon peace deal).
Later that same day Assad denied that such an agreement has been achieved. Earlier Assad called these possible troops as 'hostile'.

It's a subtle development, but the Design predicted it's significance. W'll see, I said that whatever would happen on Sep 8, it would be considered afterwards as the start of the end of  the Assad clan in Syria, Assad is now playing with the UN, like Saddam did. That will give US the reason to act, eventually.

Blasts heard at US Syria embassy

Explosions and heavy gunfire are being reported near the US embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Security forces have sealed off the Rawda area, which houses other embassies, security installations and senior officials' residences.

There has been no official confirmation of developments in Damascus, which has seen several blasts in recent years.

Syria is an authoritarian state where the security forces exert tight control on the population and the media.

A security source told the BBC it is believed Syrian forces may have foiled a bomb attack on the US embassy.

Ambulances and fire engines were seen rushing to the area through the mid-morning traffic.

Tensions in Lebanon are mounting ahead of the next UN report on the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

In an interview with UPI, Former Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam reiterated his claim that Syrian President Bashar Assad is to blame for the murder. Asked why Assad was absent from the summit of Non-Aligned Movement nations in Cuba, Khaddam said “Bashar can’t sleep at night. He is very fearful regarding the internal situation and is afraid to leave the country for fear he may not be able to return.”

READ: IRAN should be SYRIA

The US may be preparing for imminent war with Iran, according to speculation in the American Time magazine – confirming a DEBKA-Net-Weekly report

September 18, 2006, 11:37 AM (GMT+02:00)

“Western Mediterranean Fleets Spy on Each Other, Anticipate a US-Israel Strike against Iran,”  DEBKA-Net-Weekly 268 reported Sept 1, 2006.

According to Time, a deployment of minesweepers to the east coast of Iran would suggest this much discussed prospect has become real. The ships, a submarine, an Aegis-class cruiser, two minesweepers and two minehunters, were given the Prepare to Deploy order. They have not been ordered out of port, says the magazine, but told to be ready to move by October 1.

For more than 18 months, the Bush team, led by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, has worked to keep the administration’s hardline faction at bay, while trying to force Tehran to halt its nuclear ambitions.

Pro-Syrian Lebanese president Lahoud harbored Nasrallah during part of the Lebanon War – on orders from Damascus

September 20, 2006, 8:39 AM (GMT+02:00)

Lahoud was in the audience Tuesday, Sept 19, when President George W. Bush spoke of the “state within a state”  created by Hizballah at the opening of the 61st United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

In Beirut’s Dahya district, bulldozers are clearing the rubble left by Israeli air strikes on the Hizballah stronghold ready for Nasrallah’s “victory speech”  Friday, Sept 22 (eve of the Israeli New Year festival), after the last Israeli soldier quits Lebanon for the second time in six years. Speaking behind armored glass, the Hizballah leader will sneer at the Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert’s taunt earlier this month that while he was free to address half a million people, Nasrallah lurked in a bunker.

A giant screen will back his podium showing Hizballah fighters shooting rockets, damaged Israeli tanks and, most of all, portrayals of himself lounging in the sculptured terraced gardens of the presidential palace in Baabde, just outside Beirut.

In his speech, Nasrallah will warn UNIFIL troops to confine themselves to aiding the Lebanese army’s efforts to assert national sovereignty and refrain from interference Lebanese affairs. He will also call for the expansion of the Siniora government to provide pro-Syrian factions majority control.

DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources now disclose that when Olmert depicted the Hizballah leader as hiding underground and scared to come out, he and his personal command were in fact the guests of President Lahoud, who was ordered to open the palace to them by Damascus. It was from there that he orchestrated a part of the war under the personal protection of Lahoud and Syrian military intelligence.

Israeli generals, after receiving information from intelligence about his whereabouts, could have had the presidential palace bombed or accepted the fact that their prey had again slipped out of reach. Government leaders in Jerusalem held back on the order for an aerial strike for fear of igniting a military clash with Syria. Instead, Israeli warplanes pummeled a Lebanese army camp near the presidential palace without advance warning.

Bush and Ahmadinejad in UN duel

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and President George W. Bush of the United States launched bitter attacks on each other's governments in scathing speeches at the UN General Assembly.

The Iranian leader defended his country's nuclear programme and said the United States and its British ally used their dominance at the UN Security Council to further their agendas.

Bush accused the leaders of Iran and Syria of sponsoring terrorism but also urged Muslims to disregard "propaganda and conspiracy theories" he blamed for poisoning their view of the United States.

Re: Indications of Intelligent Design

these are the triggers related to September 25 I have posted earlier today:

555 'awakenings' triggers for September 25 (1111)

624 - A key victory by Muhammad over his Meccan adversaries in the Battle of Badr.

The Battle of Badr (Arabic: غزوة Øèدر“½), fought March 17, 624 CE (17 Ramadan 2 AH in the Islamic calendar) in the Hejaz of western Arabia (present-day Saudi Arabia), was a key battle in the early days of Islam and a turning point in Muhammad's struggle with the Meccan Quraish[1]. The battle has been passed down in Islamic history as a decisive victory attributable to divine intervention or the genius of Muhammad. Although it is one of the few battles specifically mentioned in the Muslim holy book, the Qur'an, virtually all contemporary knowledge of the battle at Badr comes from traditional Islamic accounts, both hadiths and biographies of Muhammad, written decades after the battle.

Prior to the battle, the Muslims and Meccans had been engaging in several smaller skirmishes and by late 623 and early 624 the Muslim ghazawÄ t had become more frequent. Badr, however was the first large-scale engagement between the two forces. Muhammad was leading a raiding party against a caravan when he was surprised by a much larger Quraishi army. Advancing to a strong defensive position, Muhammad's well-disciplined men managed to shatter the Meccan lines, killing several important Quraishi leaders including Muhammad's chief antagonist, Amr ibn HishÄ m. For the early Muslims the battle was extremely significant because it was the first sign that they might eventually overcome their persecutors in Mecca. Mecca at this time was one of the richest and most powerful pagan cities in Arabia, fielding an army three times larger than that of the Muslims.

POSTED: 0004 GMT (0804 HKT), September 24, 2006

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (AP) -- Stormy weather blamed for 12 deaths in the Midwest and South subsided on Sunday, though residents in some states remained shut out of their homes due to high waters.

Flood warnings remained in effect for parts of Arkansas, Kentucky and Missouri. Many Kentucky roads were still submerged on Sunday, but waters in many areas began to recede.

"It looks like everything's kind of quieting down, and things are being handled on the local level right now," said Buddy Rogers, a spokesman for the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management in Frankfort.

The storms that hit parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee Friday and Saturday stranded people in cars, forced others from their homes and left thousands without power.

The death toll in Kentucky reached eight, including a father and his 1-year-old daughter in a truck that skidded in floodwaters. Two deaths were reported in Arkansas, and in Illinois, authorities say lightning was the apparent cause of a house fire that killed elderly two women. (Watch how powerful floodwaters claimed two lives -- 1:29)

The National Weather Service reported that areas of Kentucky received at least 5 inches of rain, with isolated regions getting close to 10 inches. Over 24 hours, parts of northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri received more than 10 inches of rain, the weather service reported.

In Kentucky, about 200 people at Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival were evacuated by boats and school buses to transport after rising waters forced an evacuation, said Ruthann Phillips of the Red Cross. (Watch people cope with waist-deep water -- :40)

"It was almost Katrina-like, pretty much," said Chester Craig, a lieutenant with the Mercer Central Volunteer Fire Department. "There were vehicles underwater and people were walking around in a daze."

Arkansas rivers swelled up to 8 feet above flood levels, officials said. Campers at River Bend Park in Hardy, Arkansas, were asked to evacuate when the Spring River began rising.

"I didn't think we were going to make it out of there," said Charles Lenderman, who awoke Saturday morning to find knee-high water in his camper's kitchen. Lenderman and family members -- wearing life jackets -- swam from the camper to higher ground about 100 yards away.

In central and eastern Missouri, nearly 400 structures were damaged or destroyed and at least 10 people were injured by about 10 tornadoes, officials said.

Nicholas Maduro said security personnel held him for more than an hour in a room at JFK International Airport, before handing him a delegation led by Venezuela's UN ambassador
Venezuela's foreign minister says he was detained at a New York City airport after trying to board a flight home.

Nicholas Maduro said security personnel took him to a room Saturday at John F. Kennedy International Airport and held him there for more than an hour.

Maduro told CNN television he was then handed over to a delegation led by Venezuela's U.N. ambassador.

Maduro called for an investigation of the incident.

On Venezuelan television, President Hugo Chavez said Maduro was detained for allegedly taking part in a failed 1992 coup attempt in Venezuela.

On Wednesday, Mr. Chavez, in a speech to the United Nations, called President Bush "the devil." The Venezuelan leader has accused the U.S. of plotting against him and his government, a charge denied by U.S. officials

Venezuela rejects US apologies

Venezuela has made a formal complaint to the US authorities and the United Nations after its foreign minister was detained at a New York airport.
The US state department has apologised to Nicolas Maduro who was detained for 90 minutes at New York's JFK airport as he travelled home.

He had been attending this week's UN General Assembly meeting.

He said he was verbally abused and strip-searched in what he said was a "flagrant breach of international law".

President Hugo Chavez described Mr Maduro's detention as a provocation.

Our correspondent Pascale Harter says the apology has done little to ease the tense relations between the two countries.

Mr Maduro said the US apology was not enough.

"We were detained during an hour and a half, threatened by police with being beaten," he told reporters at Venezuela's mission to the UN. "We hold the US government responsible."

US authorities initially denied Mr Maduro had been detained and his documents seized, saying he had simply been asked to go through a second security screening.

The US state department later confirmed the incident had taken place and apologised.

"The state department can confirm there was an incident with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro at JFK airport in New York," a spokesman said.

"The state department regrets this incident. The United States government apologised to Foreign Minister Maduro and the Venezuelan government."

Coup questions

President Chavez earlier said Mr Maduro had been questioned about his alleged role in a failed Venezuelan coup attempt in 1992, led by Mr Chavez.

US officials said airport security had questioned him, and diplomatic security was then sent to resolve the issue.

This latest episode shows that even small difficulties between the two governments are likely to trigger full-blown diplomatic rows, says the BBC's Greg Morsbach in Caracas.

Pope to meet Muslim world envoys

Pope Benedict XVI is due to meet envoys from Muslim nations in an attempt to defuse a crisis in relations between the Catholic Church and Islam.
The meeting will aim for reconciliation after recent remarks made by the Pope caused outrage in the Islamic world.

He has since regretted causing offence and expressed "deep respect" for Islam.

The BBC's Rome correspondent says the Pope is making an unprecedented bid to try to convince Muslims he is serious about improving relations.

Muslim leaders have been demanding an unequivocal apology from the Pope.

EU Commission President Jose Manuel Durao Barroso has defended the Pope, saying more European leaders should have supported him.

"I was disappointed there were not more European leaders who said: 'Naturally, the Pope has the right to express his views'," Mr Barroso was quoted as saying in an interview with Germany's Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

"The problem is not the comments of the Pope but the reactions of the extremists."

Dialogue welcomed

The talks will be held at the Pope's residence near Rome.

They will include the head of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, Cardinal Paul Poupard, and Islamic representatives in Italy, as well as Muslim ambassadors to the Vatican.

Envoys from Iran, Turkey and Morocco have all confirmed they will attend.

The Pope's top Vatican advisers will also be present, and Pope Benedict will open the discussions with a speech that he has been writing during the weekend, says the BBC's David Willey in Rome.

Cardinal Poupard said that the meeting was "a signal that the Holy Father's call for a dialogue between cultures and religion has been widely welcomed".

Yahya Pallavicini, vice-president of one of Italy's main Islamic organisations, the Islamic Religious Community, said he hoped the meeting would be "the starting point for a new scenario of inter-faith dialogue with knowledge and truly religious Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders and scholars".

However, he expressed a fear that the Pope's comments demonstrated a "Christian Catholic exclusivism" - a belief that Catholicism was superior to other religions.

Our correspondent notes that the Pope recalled last week that both Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

The pontiff said he was "deeply sorry for the reactions in some countries to a few passages of my address at the University of Regensburg" in Germany.

On Wednesday, he told pilgrims at the Vatican that his remarks in Bavaria last week had been "misunderstood".

He said his use of a quote from a 14th-Century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologos, did not reflect his personal opinion.

The quote says: "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

The Pope said his real intention had been to "explain that religion and violence do not go together, but religion and reason do".
