Yes dark rooms do seem to have something special in training someone to awaken their inner abilities.  I know a military remote vieiwer (retired) who was trained in a dark room.   He won't give out too much information about what exactly was done in it, but he said anyone can benefit from using one and just trying to see with the third-eye.

That's just too freakin' weird! I had never heard about this before, yet I was just thinking about that scenario today. I often "write" books in my mind, and this one was based on what I was seeing in regards to one of the forum members.

I see people etherically. It's hard to describe, but essentially I see their spiritual entity, any related symbols and attachments. Some people are quite open, but others are "hidden". Even though I have the ability to see through this "hiddenness", I don't unless I get permission (just because you CAN do something doesn't always mean you should).

This particular individual had a large, heavy brown door in front of him/her when I first "saw" him/her. This door was slightly ajar, with a bright light shining behind it (their entity was behind it as well). This vision kept coming to me, and each time I saw it the door would be open more and more, with more light showing. I finally asked permission, was allowed to see inside, and saw a small spirit that was fearful.

OK, enough background. Here's the story I "came up with".

Through standard testing, a young gradeshool student was selected by the military for a special project. This was funded by a rather wealthy man (Hearst?) who valued animals' lives over humans.

This young individual was abducted and placed in a small, absolutely dark room. Every time this individual complied with these people's requests the large, heavy brown door would be opened, ever so slightly, to let some light in.

This young person's "job" was to use remote viewing to gain intel on specific people and factions around the world. But the dark room intensified this person's gift, to the point that the child could sense when these people were coming.

One day this young child anticipated the people's arrival and hid beside the large brown door in the very dark room. When the door was opened, the child escaped. Unfortunately, the people had planned for this possibilty. Via intense mental programming, they had manipulated the child's mind to forget everything that had happened at that facility if the child was exposed to light more than a certain amount of time. This was the other reason that the door wasn't opened for too long of a period.

The child grew up, and . . .

Well that's where I got interrupted and had to refocus and "work". . .

Re: The Pineal Gland

For starters, the priests of ancient Egypt used to put their intiaties underground in some sort of tomb-like place, for a few days, before emerging with an apparent increased consciousness/spirtuality/energy.  Akin to death-resurrection-new powers symbolism, but apparently a very real, methodical process.  There are quite a number metaphysical teachers today who advocate darkness for periods of time, to have a positive increasing effect on consciousness.

Interesting story.  I would certainly like to hear more as I'm sure the person in question would too.  Could prove to be a valuable lesson in facing and dissolving our fears.

Re: The Pineal Gland

The Prodigy (continued)

(I shall continue with masculine pronouns for ease of use)

After escaping the room, the young boy made his way home. His head was hurting so bad, and he didn't know why. When he ended up at the house in which he grew up, everything seemed different, even his parents. No one seemed to have missed him, but he knew something was amiss. He had no choice but to dismiss these misgivings and go on with life. A life that was wrought with horrid experiences. In spite of the intense depression and negative experiences, he made it through college.

Unbeknownst to him, the people who had held him captive were manipulating his mind from afar, keeping him distracted from ever regaining the truth of his past. He was unaware that there were people with abilities just like him, but they weren't using them in a positive way. At one point he was even used to remotely view another person without the young man's knowing, a sort of "relay" effect. Fortunately for him the person whom he was viewing was a "seer". They had feared direct interaction with him for reasons of exposition and psychic harm, and considered the young man expendable. But the young man's past started to leak through to this "seer". Talk about a negative attempt backfiring.

A friend of this young man, whom he hadn't seen for awhile, came back into his life. He trusted this person, for he had helped him "stabiize" his life in spite of the experiences, and "resonated" with him, but he didn't know why. He also didn't know that this "friend" was one of his "keepers". He had been brainwashed to accept him implicitly in case he started becoming uncontrollable, or someone started revealing the truth to him.

The seer tried to get in contact with the young man to tell him about his past. He mentioned that he kept seeing him behind a "large brown door", and that he appeared as a fearful child. He rejected this information, for it neither "resonated" with him, nor did he remember any brown door in his past or feel any "fear". And, unfortunately, he perceived the seer to be obnoxious, and non-correllative of his beliefs.

The "friend" would step in at key moments, and distract the young man.
Other people started percieving the "friend" as a non-positive individual, but didn't know what to make of it. They also didn't want to offend him, for they respected him. The seer knew he had to be patient, and wait for the right moment.

The "friend" had the ability to manipluate people's emotions, and did so at strategic times, keeping the young man in a control bubble. The seer, though, had the same ability, but only used it in positive ways. The "friend" didn't know this, for the seer could hide his abilities. Humility is good for all knids of things...

The seer knew that the "friend" would slip up at some point and reveal himself. All he had to do was wait. If he exposed the truth too soon, the "friend" would turn it around, effectively reinforcing the young man's condition.

www.hiddenmeanings.com[/url]]So when the Biblical Jesus said " if your eye be single your body will fill with light", he wasn't kidding.

Would any scriptural scholars out there know perhaps the book/chapter to which this refers?

One of the difficult things about reading the Bible is getting past the cultural, language, and figurative barriers. Here is some info from study guides available free from e-sword.net:

Mat 6:22-23 -
The light of the body ... - The sentiment stated in the preceding verses - the duty of fixing the affections on heavenly things - Jesus proceeds to illustrate by a reference to the “eye."

When the eye is directed steadily toward an object, and is in health, or is single, everything is clear and plain. If it vibrates, flies to different objects, is fixed on no one singly, or is diseased, nothing is seen clearly. Everything is dim and confused. The man, therefore, is unsteady. The eye regulates the motion of the body. To have an object distinctly in view is necessary in order to correct and regulate action.

Rope-dancers, that they may steady themselves, fix the eye on some object on the wall, and look steadily at that. If they should look down on the rope or the people, they might become dizzy and fall. A man crossing a stream on a log, if he will look across at some object steadily, will be in little danger. If he looks down on the dashing and rolling waters, he will become dizzy, and fall. So Jesus says, in order that the conduct may be right, it is important to fix the affections on heaven. Having the affections there - having the eye of faith single, steady, unwavering - all the conduct will be correspondent.

Single - Steady, directed to one object. Not confused, as persons’ eyes are when they see double.
Thy body shall be full of light - Your conduct will be regular and steady. All that is needful to direct the body is that the eye be fixed right. No other light is required. So all that is needful to direct the soul and the conduct is, that the eye of faith be fixed on heaven; that the affections be there.

If, therefore, the light that is in thee ... - The word “light," here, signifies “the mind," or principles of the soul. If this is dark, how great is that darkness! The meaning of this passage may be thus expressed: The light of the body, the guide and director, is the eye. All know how calamitous it is when that light is irregular or extinguished, as when the eye is diseased or lost. So the light that is in us is the soul. If that soul is debased by attending exclusively to earthly objects - if it is diseased, and not fixed on heaven how much darker and more dreadful will it be than any darkness of the eye! Avarice darkens the mind, obscures the view, and brings in a dreadful and gloomy night over all the faculties.

Albert Barnes' Notes on the Bible

Mat 6:22 -
The light of the body is the eye - That is, the eye is to the body what the sun is to the universe in the day time, or a lamp or candle to a house at night.

If - thine eye be single - ΑπλοÏ…Ï‚, simple, uncompounded; i.e. so perfect in its structure as to see objects distinctly and clearly, and not confusedly, or in different places to what they are, as is often the case in certain disorders of the eye; one object appearing two or more - or else in a different situation, and of a different color to what it really is. This state of the eye is termed, Mat_6:23, πονηÏ ος evil, i.e. diseased or defective. An evil eye was a phrase in use, among the ancient Jews, to denote an envious, covetous man or disposition; a man who repined at his neighbor’s prosperity, loved his own money, and would do nothing in the way of charity for God’s sake. Our blessed Lord, however, extends and sublimes this meaning, and uses the sound eye as a metaphor to point out that simplicity of intention, and purity of affection with which men should pursue the supreme good.

We cannot draw more than one straight line between two indivisible points. We aim at happiness: it is found only in one thing, the indivisible and eternal God. It the line of simple intention be drawn straight to him, and the soul walk by it, with purity of affection, the whole man shall be light in the Lord; the rays of that excellent glory shall irradiate the mind, and through the whole spirit shall the Divine nature be transfused.

But if a person who enjoyed this heavenly treasure permit his simplicity of intention to deviate from heavenly to earthly good; and his purity of affection to be contaminated by worldly ambition, secular profits, and animal gratifications; then, the light which was in him becomes darkness, i.e. his spiritual discernment departs, and his union with God is destroyed: all is only a palpable obscure; and, like a man who has totally lost his sight, he walks without direction, certainty, or comfort.

This state is most forcibly intimated in our Lord’s exclamation, How great a darkness! Who can adequately describe the misery and wretchedness of that soul which has lost its union with the fountain of all good, and, in losing this, has lost the possibility of happiness till the simple eye be once more given, and the straight line once more drawn.

Adam Clarke's Commentary on the Bible

Mat 6:22 -
Single (haplous). Used of a marriage contract when the husband is to repay the dowry “pure and simple" (teÌ„n pherneÌ„n hapleÌ„n), if she is set free; but in case he does not do so promptly, he is to add interest also (Moulton and Milligan’s Vocabulary, etc.). There are various other instances of such usage. Here and in Luk_11:34 the eye is called “single" in a moral sense. The word means “without folds" like a piece of cloth unfolded, simplex in Latin.

Bruce considers this parable of the eye difficult. “The figure and the ethical meaning seem to be mixed up, moral attributes ascribed to the physical eye which with them still gives light to the body. This confusion may be due to the fact that the eye, besides being the organ of vision, is the seat of expression, revealing inward dispositions."

The “evil" eye (poneÌ„ros) may be diseased and is used of stinginess in the lxx and so haplous may refer to liberality as Hatch argues (Essays in Biblical Greek, p. 80). The passage may be elliptical with something to be supplied. If our eyes are healthy we see clearly and with a single focus (without astigmatism). If the eyes are diseased (bad, evil), they may even be cross-eyed or cock-eyed. We see double and confuse our vision. We keep one eye on the hoarded treasures of earth and roll the other proudly up to heaven. Seeing double is double-mindedness as is shown in Mat_6:24.

Lemniscate - thanks much for posting that... food for thought.

I do sincerely wish though, that the idealistic exhortations of Albert, Adam and Bruce were more affixed to realism.  Maybe they are, and I just don't see it.

There is one named Ananda who has written and also experiemented with the darkroom retreat as well as the soma acacia. His websights are horribly out of date but fascinating nontheless. In other links he alludes to a thing called " Zon power thinking " and to a realm beyond duality. This link deals with the subject of DMT.

Re: The Pineal Gland

Interesting.  I heard of "Zon Power Thinking" before.  Not sure if it's the same type of thing though.  It came from a book series called Neo-Tech.  Read this stuff back in the early 90s.

http://www.neo-tech.com/index.php

Checking over their site there isn't much there that used to be.  They had dozens of books.  Printed books had started back in the early 80s.

Neo-Think is what they considered "Zon Power Thinking".

Neo-Think is the process for developing startling new concepts through unlimited ranges of new integrations."

Unlimited capactiy is accomplished by dividing thoughts into separate groups or units and then building each unit to it's maximum capacity of conscious thought.

Those separate, maximum-capacity thought units are then suddenly integrated together into vast, super units of new knowledge and concepts far beyond the capacity of the human mind functioning as a single conscious unit.

11. Jesus said, "This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away.

The dead are not alive, and the living will not die. During the days when you ate what is dead, you made it come alive. When you are in the light, what will you do? On the day when you were one, you became two. But when you become two, what will you do?"

Can we have some interpretations of this?  Especially the last two phrases.  I'm not getting it...

I am not sure of this, but maybe it has something to do with this extract from the gospel :

".... Jesus said to them, "When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male will not be male nor the female be female, when you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter [the kingdom]."
