Topic: Why Does This Keep Happening To Me?

. . . and here is another article I wrote more recently. smile

You're an intelligent person.  You've got a lot of things going for you.  You've got your s*** cleaned up.

Well mostly.

Then it happens.  That thing.  The one that always happens.

You know, when things start getting good.  You're actually feeling quite pleased with yourself.  Life is flowing a bit easier.

Then it happens.

And everything goes back to a big pile of s***.

Have you ever wanted to go out in the middle of the day, stand in the middle of a crowded street, look up into the sky with outstretched arms and scream “What The F*** Is Going On?!"

Don't take it personally.  Nobody's out to get you.  Except those who are out to get you.  But they don't really have any choice in the matter.

See it's all just growth.

And all growth occurs in a spiral.

The purpose of experience is to provide opportunity for growth.

Ideas.  Concepts.  Belief.  These form the boundaries of your experience.

When your ideas about life are commeasurate with your experience that boundary is like a perfect sphere.

Virtually indestructible.

When you are in this state you are “In The Zone" .  No experience can enter into your reality that isn't matched with an appropriate concept for that experience.  You are master of your reality.

Experience generates emotional charge.  The emotional charge is utilized to provide the impulse to upgrade your belief system, and change your behavior pattern accordingly.  When properly applied, the emotional energy is completely discharged to the mental and physical realms.

When this discharge is not complete, the boundary may become stuck in a certain place.

Imagine that you are in the center of a giant round balloon that is being inflated out from you.  Now imagine that your reach out to grasp the balloon between your thumb and your forefinger.  As the rest of the balloon grows outward spherically, this piece that you are holding on to becomes distorted.

As you hold onto that piece you will draw into yourself experiences which are focused around the belief that is inadequate or otherwise faulty.  The longer you hold onto that piece the sharper and more frequent the experiences occur.  Each provides an opportunity for you to upgrade your belief system and discharge the emotional energy that has built up around the experience.

If this energy becomes repressed it can turn into fear.  It has been said that fear attracts the very experiences which we would like to avoid.  This is not correct.

The experience came first.  The fear came after we made the conscious choice to hold on to the experience by refusing to upgrade our belief system and change our behavior.  To fear is to be in sin.

When we are in a state of sin, we will appear to others to be taking repeated actions that are not commeasurate with our own belief system.  In reality, we are not taking action because we have no concept upon which action can be taken. We are in a state of inaction due to the fear impulse which prevents us from accessing the appropriate concept which would allow us to take action.

Experience is not something that belongs to you personally.  Experience is something that is meant to be shared with all of Creation, so that all beings have have opportunities for growth.  When you hold on to your experience, claiming it as your own, you are depriving others of the potential benefits from that experience which thay have an equal claim to.

Whenever the growth of an entity is limited by the refusal of another entity to let go of an experience, a shadow being is made.

Shadow beings are like little mosquitoes that sit on the surface of your balloon and drink from the pool of emotion that has settled around the places where you have refused to let go of your experience.

Shadow beings do not have direct access to emotional energy, so in order to grow a shadow being must get you to agree to provide them with energy.

The only way they can do this is to offer their service to you, and they only have one service to offer.  Should you choose to accept their services you will be allowing them access to your emotional energy in exchange for the promise of “protecting"  you from the experience that you don't want to occur.

This is a sham promise because shadow beings are incapable of taking action.  They cannot protect you from anything because there is in reality nothing that you require protection from.  Ultimately they exist because another being requires liberation from you, who are unreasonably limiting their opportunities for growth.  A shadow being maintains its existence so long as you refuse to acknowledge that you have no right to limit the experience of another.

Shadow beings serve the light because they allow you to continue growth in other areas of life while another is allowed to continue growth in the area that you are resisting.  The accomplish this through the transmission of your fear impulse through their body back to the Source for recycling.

You can at any time choose to transmit the impulse through your own body to the Source, thus eliminating the basis for the existence of a shadow entity.

You can do this through redemption of your sins.

To re-deem is to think differently.  To change your mind.  To make the upgrade to your belief system which is necessary to correctly process the type of experience that you have been resisting.

Redemption is a process of acquiring knowledge in which you inquire of those around you, through the use of language or symbolism, for information that can assist you in upgrading your belief system.

Information may take the form of the spoken or written word,  as a work of art, or as a dream.

Upon successful translation of the information to a suitable belief system, the fear is discharged, and the shadow entity ceases to function.  You have repented for your sins and are now redeemed.

You can also discharge the energy through forgiveness of your sins.

Forgiveness is a process of making a direct application to the Creator for the correction of your belief system.  This correction occurs through the form of prayer.

In prayer you offer the unused energy back to the Source in return for a special dispensation known as an angel or guide.

Angels and guides are virtual beings which assume the functions of the shadow being that had previously feasted upon your sin.  A virtual being is different from a shadow being because the virtual being was created in concert between you and the Creator.

Thus a virtual being is endowed with free will and can function as service-to-other, in contrast to the shadow being, which has no will of its own, and can only function as service-to-self.

At your bequest, a virtual being can be empowered to choose experiences for you on your behalf.   Should such application be made a virtual being will be able to choose specific experiences which allow you to upgrade your belief system through love instead of fear.

Upon completion of the upgrade, the angel or guide is free to go assist another who may be suffering the same form of sin.  They continue to exist as free entities.

Repentence and forgiveness are equally effective means of discharging the karma of sin.  However an important distinction can be made.

Forgiveness is participatory in nature with regard to Creation, while repentence is merely investigatory in nature.  Hence, one who forgives becomes as the Creator while one who repents becomes as the creation.

The Old Testament represents the Gospel of Redemption.  This is a prescription for growth based on the observance of other.

The New Testament represents the Gospel of Forgiveness.  This is a prescription for growth based on the observance of self.

The Next Testament represents the Gospel of Acceptance.  This is a prescription for growth based on the observance of self as other.

The Final Testament represents the Gospel of Pardon.  This is a prescription for growth based on the observance of Creator as other and self.

Upon administration of the Final Testament the process of growth is perfected and you are liberated from the bonds of the flesh.

When that happens there will finally be no more s*** to clean up.

It is not for us to understand love, but simply to make space for it.

Very creative and edgy.  Easy to read and held my attention.  Some innovative imagery and organized insight.

So are you working on the final three Testaments?

I think that the third is in the process of becoming more available as we are becoming more aware.

I've written at length about the shift from doing to being.  When we look out into the world, we see people doing all sorts of things.  Some of the things that others do are very difficult to accept, but we can try to forgive them.

I propose that we focus instead on how others are being.  Angry?  Sad?  Fearful?  Loving?  From this perspective there are only a handful of motivators, and it is very easy to see that these all exist within ourselves.  Now things become easier to accept, and forgiveness becomes unnecessary.  It is like being in the dream, but aware that you are dreaming.  Weird, strange, and sometimes scary, things happen in dreams all the time, but our mind is in a state where we don't resist it.  Things mysteriously transform from one thing to another.  One moment we see a wall, and in the next moment there is a door.

The fourth is still kind of nebulous in my mind.  Pardon means thinking/feeling/acting as if something had never happened.  It is the merging of Alpha and Omega.  It is like waking up from the dream and realizing that everything that we thought had happened never really happened at all.

It is not for us to understand love, but simply to make space for it.

Re: Why Does This Keep Happening To Me?

tenetnosce,  some questions:

It has been said that fear attracts the very experiences which we would like to avoid.  This is not correct.

How did you reach that conclusion?

To me, this from the Bible has the ring of truth (and Shakespeare used it in one of his plays):  "For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me."  The fear came first...

Stuart Wilde sez this too:

Stuart Wilde wrote:

We are told that cause creates effect. We call it the law of cause and effect. But it's quite the reverse; it's the effect returning from the future that establishes the cause. Get yo brain around that one!

And, you say that to fear is to be in sin.  Why?  And, how do you define "sin"?

The thoughts you are expressing in this thread seem to contradict your posts in the thread "Intent" where you speak of everything falling into place when you focus on knowing, being and loving yourself, and about refraining from "shoulding" upon oneself and others.

Good questions.  I guess first I should point out that when I write things like this, I'm not declaring them to be truth.  It's kind of a process of automatic writing; I don't really know what I am going to write next and I often surprise myself.  There are numerous contradictions between things that I have written.  Then again, there are numerous contradictions within myself!  My purpose in posting this was not to give instruction, just to put it out there and see what other people thought about the ideas.

In the context of this writing, sin is separation from spirit.  The degree of separation determines how unconscious, or automatic, our behaviors are.  When we are in a state of sin, we have cut ourselves off from new information somewhere, and hence are stuck in a repeating pattern of thought.  Hence to get out of this state, we must change our mind.

The part about the experience preceding fear is sourced in an idea I heard a few months back.  The basic concept is that we think we have fear about certain things happening in the future, but really if you trace it back you will find it is sourced in the past.  Something happened and now we are scared that it will happen again.  So yes, having the fear attracts the experience, but it was the experience that happened first.  *shrug* Another chicken and egg conundrum I suppose.

Anyhow let me be clear that I am not attempting to set myself up as any sort of authority, if that's your concern.

It is not for us to understand love, but simply to make space for it.

OK.  Your  philosophy is probably still in flux, and you will likely come to a point where the contradictions are resolved...

In the context of this writing, sin is separation from spirit out of fear.  The degree of separation determines how unconscious, or automatic, our behaviors are.  When we are in a state of sin, we have cut ourselves off from new information somewhere, and hence are stuck in a repeating pattern of thought.  Hence to get out of this state, we must change our mind.

Just looking for clarity, and opening up the discussion.

In Christianity, "original sin" (from "eating the forbidden fruit of knowledge")  is separation from the Oneness and existence in polarity.  In this definition, every human is sinful.  Polarity and sin are the same thing.  Fear in general is one of the main experiences of polarity and the matter world.

In this context, sin is not "bad", it's just part of the process of our voluntary journey of exploration which will lead us all back to the Source of our being.

Its late so I'll be brief, but basically I just wanted to say I *loved* reading that.  You totally had my attention to the end, and that's hard to do.  Also I relate to almost everything you said, even though there might be slight contradictions -- hey that's how life really is.

When will I get to buy a Tenetnosce book? ;-)

Yeah that was pretty cool, if you need an additional place to share it I'd be more than happy to add it to the NR Homepage. The best stuff we create is often what pours unexpectedly from within... there's a good exercise where you just freestyle write and let your heart do the talking, helps reinforce the conduit between you and your inner/higher source.

Acquiring fringe knowledge is like digging for diamonds in a mine field.

Well thank you.  I appreciate all the appreciation!  Consider yourself free to distribute it however you like.

Re: Why Does This Keep Happening To Me?

tenetnosce,

I've often wondered the same thing..."why does it happen to me?". My story may seem overly simplistic and even a bit "simpleminded" but I've always subscribed to the KISS principle which is "Keep It Simple Stupid". Some of my strongest memories as a child revolve around why when choosing a squirtgun I always seemed to get the one that shot crooked, why when guessing a winner of a contest was I always wrong, why when taking a draw in poker did I always lose? I was one of those people whose life was epitomized by the phrase on Hee Haw "if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all, gloom, despair and agony on me..."

Why me?

Well I thought about it long and hard...through the despair, depression and absolute certainty that the universe hated me. I desperately tried to figure out what I was doing wrong...and it dawned on me. One of two things was happening.

Either I was an evil, evil SOB in my past life and I was paying for this....or.....I was banking karma for something that was yet to come. Maybe both...

Now, I have no doubt that I was a bad person at some point in my prior lives but given my present mindset either I'd done a complete 180 degree turnaround, which wasn't likely, or, something big was coming.

Given the signs and the obvious harbingers of the coming conflagration...I finally concluded I was banking karma for the BIG BATTLE.

This pleases me to an extent only someone who knows what is coming can truly appreciate. No adversity, no calamity, no suffering can knock me down. In the end I'll be able to say I never gave up, I never gave in, and I never capitulated.

I know at least some will stand with me and I know it will be enough.

That is what the light is all about.

I dig it.

I quote Joan Baez:

Joan Baez wrote:

Set down your chains
Till only faith remains
Set down your chains...

And lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
No longer give your strength to that which you wish to free from
Fill your lives with love and bravery
And you shall lead a life uncommon

You can't change a tiger's stripes,
but you can avoid its teeth.

Re: Why Does This Keep Happening To Me?

Intriguing thread.
In moments like this i'm so glad that i'm a part of this forum smile
It all (specially Jens first reaction here) reminded me of something that i came up with during meditation some time ago: all people from the moment the were born are creating theirs biggest fear and the "mission" in life is to face and accept them sometime, somewhere...

In summation, I'm saying the same thing you did, just in a different way using symbolism that is addressing the validity and importance of physical reality, which I thought might have been considered in a negative way based upon those last couple of sentences - since I have heard those phrases used so often in that context. Like I said earlier though, you may not have meant it that way at all.

I am with you.

Judging physicality to be inherently bad is definitely something I consider a "sidetrack" to spiritual development.  I believe that transcendence comes through acceptance of the physical.

It's the bondage that I was referring to in that last bit.  I have found it instructive to view these terms in the context of financial obligations.  From Black's 5th:

bondage, Slavery; involuntary personal servitude; captivity.  In old English law, villenage, villein tenure.

Spiritually, and legally through our Certificates of Birth, we are not the owners of our bodies, and do not hold the title to them.  We are tenants.  We are not free to use our bodies how we may see fit, but instead are bound and obligated to use them in certain ways that are dictated by the whims of external forces.

We are under contract.

Physically, this is in terms of spending a significant portion of our lives chasing around little green papers that we are obligated to give to other people not only so we can feed and clothe our bodies, but in order to fund the activities of others which may be directly at odds with our own core values.

Spiritually, this is in terms of spending a significant portion of our lives interacting with others who do not support our growth, and may in fact be inhibiting it.

What I am positing is that these two are directly correlated.  I am not by any means a Bible thumper, but I think it is extremely significant that Jesus was not put to death until shortly after he threw the moneychangers (read bankers) out of the temple.

Contracts, spiritual or physical, evaluate to indebtedness.

In the process of redemption we are in violation of the contract and we must pay a price to regain our rights under the contract.

In the process of forgiveness we are in violation of the contract and another pays the price on our behalf.

In the process of acceptance we affirm the contract, and consciously endeavor to fulfill it in order to gain release from the contract.

In the process of pardon, we cancel the contract entirely, and proceed as if it had never existed.

It is not for us to understand love, but simply to make space for it.
