Geography Game...

So I've seen these vids making fun of how stupid Americans are at Geography and stuff... Here's a fun little flash game to test your knowledge...

http://minijuegos.com/juegos/html/index.php?id=5974

And fair reporting, my final score was 152,732 on level 5 and it scored my Travel IQ at 90 ...

Re: Geography Game...

Ack! I knew I was geographically challenged! (I'm not very physicality-centric, truth to tell)

Final Score........117,831
Final level..........5
Traveler IQ........86

I seem to have difficulty with Asia...

Fun!

Re: Geography Game...

That was fun, I got a total score of 256,364, level 8, "travel IQ" of 100.  Some of them I really nailed, like within 75 - 90 km or so (it's kind of hard being that the map is so small....) but then others I was way off.  But at least I never guessed the wrong continent!  lol   The worst one I think I did was some islands I've never heard of, so I just pointed the clicker off the west coast of Africa, and it was actually somewhere off the east coast of Africa, like in the Indian ocean.  whoops.   haha  All in all my worst areas were Asia, Africa, and islands.  My guesses were quite pathetic, actually!  Did well for Europe, Canada, the U.S., not suprisingly.  Just goes to show where the emphasis is in school geography.  I don't really recall learning much of anything about Africa and Asia growing up, but there was loads of emphasis on Europe and the U.S.  Guess it's time to study my atlas some more.  wink

Re: Geography Game...

(on a sidenote, just thought I'd mention how whenever you see a media graphic image of Earth in our society it's always the view of Earth showing North/South America, with the implied emphasis being on the U.S.  But it's never the side of Earth with Asia and Africa and all the rest.  Very obnoxious!  I used to have a poster with an image of Earth from space and a big part of the reason I liked it so much was that it was the view from over Africa and that side of the planet.....for once.)

Re: Geography Game...

A couple of way offs(2 on the other side of the world - so good job Lyra), a good number I chose the wrong end/side of the country, 277,909, level 8, IQ 102.
It was fun, harder than I thought.

291,432 points, Level 8, Traveler IQ 103.  Didn't have many problems until level 8, then i got asked about a bunch of African countries and fell apart pretty quick.  Neat game though! smile

Re: Geography Game...

Great game!

My first attempt I got:

217,814
Level 7
Travel IQ 97

Bit annoyed I didn't get to level 8 because I was very close to the score needed to progress sad

Re: Geography Game...

OK Here's one for you to beat!

Second attempt I somehow made Level 10 and I confess I got exceptionally lucky several times with various African and Asian cities that I really had little or no idea where they were, but somehow kept getting incredibly close. I must have been in the zone or something!

Anyway:

Final score: 346,040
Level: 10
IQ: 109

Damn, I'm feeling clever big_smile

Re: Geography Game...

That's okay Pictus, we still like you!  big_smile

Well, inspired by Ayahuasca's score, I studied my world atlas and then gave it another go.   So this time I reached Level 10, and got a score of 391,347, and a travel IQ of 114.   yay!  Much better!  I felt like such an idiot for not knowing where half these countries were.  I still mess up on all those little island chains, and I still get confused with some of the African nations.  It's because the country names there all sound so similar - Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, it's a big blur.  So when in doubt, if it looks like an African name and I don't know where it is I just point the clicker smack in the middle of Africa and hope for the best. haha

oh yeah, and I noticed that this quiz seems to have a lot of focus on Italy.  !  Anybody else notice this??  Just study up on Italy and you'll do fine.  haha

lol  Well you know it's only a matter of time before somebody gets on here with level 11, or even 12 and 700,000 points or something, blowing us all away. haha

Re: Geography Game...

A fun test!

I did the test once,  got to level 11, a score of 432146 and travel IQ 118.
It helps when you've been around a bit of course.
Maybe I will try to get to level 12... but I think that will be extremely hard.

Anyway, thanks for the link!
