Topic: Breatharianism

Seeing that sungazing thread up there reminded me of Breatharianism and so I'd like to share a few resources with you all, this is a concept that I had never heard of until I followed a link from someone else in this forum to www.librarising.com not too long ago.

The best thing to do is just start reading all of the links in the Health section - they are not too long and I found some very new information there: http://www.librarising.com/health/index.html

But here is a quick overview from the Health Archives section:

BREATHARIANS CAN DO IT ALL
A breatharian is someone who gets all of their nourishment from air and light(love). A few thousand strong, worldwide, they are forerunners of what all of us will one day become -an immortal and self-sustaining humanity. When you stop polluting your body with food and drink a cleansing and healing process takes place restoring you from the animal state(anything that eats or has sex) to your original divine or angelic state(non-eating/non-copulating). In this pristine and higher vibratory state, all of your powers are augmented tenfold, and you become a superhumam; your thought processes become computer-like, your psychic senses unfold, and you will have enough strength to lift ten times your own weight. You will require little or no sleep and will easily resist extremes in temperature. You will never get sick and will have stopped or even reversed the aging process. Perhaps best of all, you will always be happy and confident and clear as to who you are or where you are going in life. While not everyone can become a breatharian just yet, it will become an increasing trend in this 21st century. Breatharians can do it all! Important note: Never try to become a breatharian in a cold, polluted, or negative environment, or if you are on medication, or are seriously handicapped or limited in some way.

Re: Breatharianism

STOMACH NOT NORMAL

The stomach is an abnormal inflation designed to store excess food untill your digestive tract can deal with it. When you fast or stop eating it shrinks back to its original tubular state, allowing your solar plexus(directly behind your stomach) to start beating again.

I found this interessting, although a bit militant. Still, i have difficulties to believe that these people exist.

Did anyone here ever tried to become or is a breatharian ? Did anybody ever met one ?

Thanks. smile

Re: Breatharianism

The breatharian premise sounds too good to be true IMO; immortality, superhuman strength, never get sick, no sex (I'm sure that would turn a few people off such an idea) and other such magical qualities.

You stop being human basically. My line of thinking about this existence is that we came to this place to experience life as humans with all its limitations, sorrows and mysteries. Becoming some sort of angelic being seems to me like you're cheating on that process, or perhaps there is some sort of of 'fine print' to becoming a breatharian: you become immortal but you lose your ability to feel certain emotions which could make you lose your depth as a being. You might become this dull love-and-light being, who knows? Or you might not be able to have sex... ever... again! Your body might morph into Ken and Barbie (TM). Eek!

Even if such a premise is true, I don't think it is a good to stomp right on in with breatharianism and start living the long and immaculate life. Perhaps being immortal and physically perfect isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Maybe it's just me, but it just sounds too lovely, too perfect. Plus, in the process of becoming immortal you might just kill yourself. There have been cases of people following the breatharianism and dying.

Here are some links for the case against breatharianism (not exactly university level but read 'em anyway!):

The Lani Morris case is tragic and strange... does starvation usually do that to a person? Retching up black liquid, paralysis? I read up on starvation and none of those symptoms appear, although the paralysis could of been caused by the lack of vitamin B12 (which keeps the nervous system in working order). Jim Pesnak who had headed the breatharianism following claimed that the black liquid was the spiritual muck inside of Lani Morris and it was coming out. I just don't know... and there are too many spiritual charlatans these days to take the claim seriously IMO.

That reminds me, I need a breathing treatment.
Now, where'd I put that roach...

Re: Breatharianism

I think this is probably possible - some mystics are said to have lived without eating - but I'm not sure it's something you should aim to do... just something that will happen naturally if you reach a certain state of spiritual enlightenment. The websites and gurus that portray breatharianism as a "way of life", attainable for anyone simply by fasting, are taking the wrong approach IMO. Besides, most of the people who run websites on it seem to know a lot about breatharians and how to become one, but then somewhere on their site they admit "I'm not actually a breatharian yet, but I'm getting there!!" Hmm. And likewise, the well-known breatharian "gurus" seem highly suspicious and probably fake to me.

I could be totally wrong, though.

Re: Breatharianism

lol....that sounds interesting...and am pretty sure it is for true. I am really tierd anyways thinking what to eat and what not to eat. Besides, I stoped using shampoo and my head felt light weith and it was allright untill just now when i did shampoo it its now heavy and i feel all kind of psychic energies over my head. Why is this life so hard for people who don't want to make it hard for others?? I really want to be at that level now sometimes I think that I should just leave all these concrete jungle and live in a really wild jungle without fear and social programming being yourself. But at the same time I have promised myself that I wll get spiritual right under all the criticisim of my family to everything I face. And I believe in myself and I will do it. Thanx for the info smile

Re: Breatharianism

It is possible to live without food but don't try this at home.  It is reserved only for spiritual Adepts who choose it but not as a lifestyle for anyone else aspiring to keep their physical body any more than a few weeks.  To stop eating is a dangerous suggestion and highly unethical of the good folks at "librarising.com"  After reading some of the drivel in their other articles it wouldn't surprise me if this outfit knows their off the wall and are out to harm body, mind and soul of anyone unfortunate enough to stumble across them.  A set up written by unbalanced people who've woven some pop spirituality and metaphysics into their very bad advice and their shaggy dog stories.

I believe there probably isn't more than a handful of people on this planet who can really do this. They most likely have full control of the elements, access to the Akasha, and have mastered their mind and breath; a feat which surely took many, many years of hard training and discipline. I imagine at that level the last thing on their minds is to come forward and directly tell everyone what they can do. Just a theory.

After studying Franz Bardon's book Initiation into Hermetics, I can imagine someone who completes all ten steps could live off of pure prana, but I only know of two people on this planet who even claim to have completed all ten steps, but still remain slightly elusive. There are of course Yogis and so-called Saints who have possibly mastered certain Kriya Yoga and Pranayama techniques specifically for that purpose, but they aren't exactly publishing books and putting up websites.

Sounds like wishful thinking on their part. Show me some proven laboratory studies on these people.

Re: Breatharianism

when I was a teenager  I became interested and went to an eastern bookstore sniffing around on the shelves to see what info I could find.    The clerk said,  "you don't want to give up food !!"

I happened to watch a documentary of an AMerican/African man who claimed to be breatharianism for many years.  He said that all his blood tests are normal.   Although the tests may have been normal his body sure wasn't.  He was very tall and looked like a walking skeleton wrapped in skin.     I wondered if a breatharianist was only an anorexic with spirituality.    He was enough to scare me off the idea; there's something about a healthy vibrant looking body that uplifts me.

In the summer I met a woman in Lunen Ashram in the Netherlands and apparently she hasn't taken food for years.   The interesting thing with her is that she's gained weight.  I must be a little vain because I wouldn't be interested in weight gain either.

I  heard of a German woman, dead now, who never ate or drank and it was verified by thousands of people.  I can't remember her name.

I've discovered that if I only eat  what I need, and use breath the rest of the time,  it's a lighter existence. I do notice a difference in myself when I'm over saturated with food.   I also notice the difference when I saturated with air.   The point being not to obsess over the food program   one way or the other, but giving the body what it needs. If it ever stops needing food then perhaps I won't take it.    I've met people who obsess over food one way or another and it creates an imbalance.   I have met people who have no interest in food whatsoever, and for them it would likely be easy.    For me food is a social culture and I enjoy that part of socialization.  I have no need to give it up.

Her name was Theresa Neumann. Amazing how the body and reality changes according to your beliefs. The woman at the Lunen Ashram may be the real deal. Supposedly the initial intake of Prana will actually cause you to gain weight. That's the tale anyways.

This is kind of creepy, and I'm sure it is probably real, but I don't see any spiritual significance in such manifestations. I think the body just reacts based on beliefs. I could pray to a rock and if my devotion was deep enough, I'd eventually have visions of my new rock deity.

This is what I do and where I am at...about 1/3 consumption of food.

This is simply ME and what I do and have gotten from my intense Solar Meditation. Throughout last year I built up to the visual intake of 40 minute sunrises and sunsets and do this every clear day I am able.

Once Again...This IS My Opinion and My Own Personal Experience!  Mileage WILL vary!

We are transforming...we will not "eat" (as we know it in 3d) when that transformation culminates.  I already have a "taste" of that transformation and I Love It! : ) Please see My prior posts in this thread : )

I still work "plenty" building and so on...very active physically...I do not eat full meals anymore....I eat fruits and vegetables and so on and eat 30% or so of what I did before 6 months of steady and spiritual sun meditating "visually"!

Re: Breatharianism

Dan B, sorry for the derail. I just have a cat and mouse game with CM.

I found these quotes today that sort of fit with what you are saying about "what works for you."

"We are all different facets of the same jewel."

"Footpaths are different for everyone. What really matters is that we walk the paths we choose with good intent."

I don't know who wrote these quotes.  Well, I did, but I mean I don't know who composed them.
