I was wondering if there were any developments in this case.  Is the child ok now?  I haven't forgotten.  I have thought about her from time to time and tried to send some protection.

Well, dear Kathy, there's good news ! I had the time to get the scoop tonight. As it ends up a Guidance Counselor became an advocate for the young woman in question... not to mention her step-father is a cop who knows the cop that works the school. It seems as though the principal of the school stepped in just a tad over his head. This doesn't mean all has been hunky-dory, I'm told most of the kids in the school are shunning her, and as well, another one of her writings, a letter to Bush, has been exposed to the kiddie school PTB and there's some kind of stir about that.

The young woman is, from what I'm told, "intellectually gifted" and the school counselor that stepped up to the plate for her has managed to have her placed into a newly developed school for... ahem, her kind.

Heeheehee.... now if the 'lil Indigo Child will be able to get her anger under control enough to learn.... being an Indigo must be a real life challenge I think.

I asked my friend if she could get a copy of the young woman's letter written to Bush so I could post it here, she said it was very touching and insightful.

Also fyi the 9/11 bill includes the patriot act II and the national ID card, they didn't pass it this session but they are going to have a con con in december and shove it down our throats.  Its funny(sad) because the congress didn't pass it last session, and of course now the media says that "congress let us down" and "congress doesn't care about our safety" (of course without discussing any of the content of the bill at all)

they want to do forced psychological testing of children 3 times a year and they want to do forced psychological testing of the parents once a year.  If your child thinks for themselves then they are a danger to their society

I don't even know what to say, this that you've written is... is... ummm... kwap! There's not even a word I have in my vocabulary that illustrates how freaking WRONG this is.

Along the same lines, in FL they've started a program through the FL State Health Dept. where 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades are going to be weighed (BMI index and all) and the results are going to be sent home to parents with suggestions to parents of overweight children that they put their children on diets. Of course I can appreciate that it's not healthy for a young child to be obese, but the very danger of this is if those overweight children aren't found to be losing weight the parents can be charged with Child Neglect... uh-huh... not pretty, huh? As it was I was threatened to be charged and arrested for Child Abandonment once, and if I hadn't of involved the media I probably would've been... and I trust you all will understand that I was being manipulated by the system and that I really wasn't a horrible mother.

The Dept. of Children and Families (DCF) in this state is already so overwhelmed that there's been at least one big hullabaloo where State Social Workers have LOST children. I don't know what makes them think they're going to be able to handle all of this. I worked for DCF temporarily one summer running an Emergency Housing program (HUD) for the homeless and let me tell you the cynism of the Social Workers I worked with was deplorable. They are overworked, underpaid, and their hands are so tied by bureaucracy they almost have no choice but to be ineffectual.

But psychological testing? Forced? It's a damn good thing my child is a grown man because I would DRAW THE LINE right there. And sheesh! I'd be up shit creek without a paddle because I don't conform to anything the "system" covets, I'd be found to be a whack-job no doubt.

smeene, is this to be Federally mandated or is it just in your state?

this reminds me of an article i read about some autistic kid(9 yrs old), who just like in this story, was being expelled etc (and examined by psychologists) for behaving "strangely"

what i found interesting is that the little child was smart enough to tell the Teacher Aide that she(he?) doesnt have to listen to her. Its even more interesting that the autistic child was telling the other kids that they don't have to listen to the teacher aide either. now thats one smart kid !!

I don't know this girl, I don't know her parents, but I am livid! My friend called for advice since I've worked in the Mental Health field before... I said they should get a lawyer and raise some unholy hell. I also suggested the CHILD should be on her best behavior for the 72 hr. period least that have any reason to keep her longer, which they can do.

I guess minors don't have Civil Rights nor the coveted right to freaking freedom of speech... who <bleepin'> needs the <bleepin'> Constitution when you've got the <bleepin'> Patriot Act! :x

She's only 13 years old, she's being put into a mental ward with god knows what could happen to her, and I know... I know with almost 100% certainty they're going to drug her up. I'm so mad I could spit nails.

My friends employer and her were talking after the mom left to go to the school, the employer said, 'I guess it's getting to the point we need to keep our mouths shut and keep our opinions to ourselves'.

It's a sad time to be one of those 49% of US Americans who didn't vote for The Shrub.
