me and my friends hacked an xbox and installed Debian (Linux) onto it...

had ourselves a little computer in the living room with internet access and everything.

we modded a USB port into one of the Xbox controllers to begin this entire project.

I myself use Windows, because of the graphic design programs i use, and the games as well. (and im just used to windows) but i respect Linux so much because they are 100% free. thats 100% STO if i ever saw it here on earth (had to toss in a joke)

The biggest problem with Linux is the sheer amount of distributions of it. For a new user, it can be quite overwhelming trying to pick the right one. A lot of people use Mandrake, which I'm not that impressed with, but Red Hat's Fedora project is looking pretty nice. FreeBSD just has a much nicer package management system with it's ports tree design. Makes it a doddle to update all parts of your system. If you don't play computer games at all, then there is simply no reason to stick with Windows. Download Linux or one of the BSD's, install it, add the KDE desktop environment or Gnome (although I use Fluxbox), and you're done.

This is why I moved to using the FreeBSD operating system. It's Unix based like Linux, and it can run any program Linux can run, but it is much more usable and better designed. It takes some getting used to at first because it can be quite technical, but it is highly stable, very secure, and totally configurable. And above all, everything is free. And believe it or not, I used to work for Microsoft! Now I view Microsoft, and AOL, as the biggest cancer ever inflicted upon the computer world. Anyway, if you are interested, take a look at:
