The problem here is not in giving an answer, but in the form of the question. It would be meaningless to try and constrain a non-physical entity within our (limited) conceptions of linear time frames. To me, all fragments of consciousness originated from the one infinite source consciousness which lies beyond any space and time considerations.

According to Genesis, when God breathed His spirit into His creation, that creation became a living soul. When flesh dies, the spirit goes out of them. According to that, a soul is on loan, returned at death. Nothing in scripture to suggest that a soul is indestructible or immortal during this present incarnation. In the gospels, the potential of "putting on immortality" is discussed. This would suggest that immortality is waiting down the line, for those who able to transcend this mortality. My understanding is that the spirit will then return to a incorruptible body, restoring the original creation to its intended state. The Bible is pretty specific about who these "saints" are. Revelation gives the qualifications, which though strict, are not impossible to meet.
This, of course, is what the Bible states. And it is my opinion that it is true. But I'm sure many here, as elsewhere, reject these teachings. That's cool. I'm not looking for debate, just trying to answer your question from my POV, zonabi.

i mean, if the soul is indestructible, it never dies... so was it ever born ?
