To me the inner body sensation is like being stuffed full of cotton, like how you feel pressing down on something so soft you can barely feel it but there's pressure. Or like the push back of two magnets with the same poles facing eachother. The electricty sensation is occasional and feels like energy moving to me. Talking aobut the debate, I think Tolle was literal but what he was getting at is that because the physical body overlaps the energy body which contains it and most us are familiar with only sensing the body space, that sensing within the body was the perfect place to start becoming aware of "being energy".

The ego is not something to be gotten away from in any respect permanently or left behind, is it?.. ultimately you are your ego and then some, and if you can align the "some" with the "ego" onto the same page, then you've got something to work with.. but one thing.. not ego/HigherSelf duality stuff...

Hmm I also don't know what you mean by referring to yourself as infinite consciousness.. that's something that everyone says that makes you feel good that you haven't yet considered very thoroughly?.. or perhaps you mean it in a symbolic sort of way, no offense intended I do not presume to judge..

Hmmmm it seems also how you use "Source" and everything that our views differ a bit more.. you want to go home?.. so the point of incarnation, of taking all the trouble of creating a conventional reality such as this.. it is so that we may learn how to breath properly and regard our body properly.. just so that we can get back to the place we originally departed from in the first instance? You see that's how I see your perspective. There is no "going".

I am also curious in what way one can extract consciousness from the mind?

I feel that you know what you are talking about, but you may be reading some sub-par stuff.... you have the general idea of course..

Hmmmm I'm hardly one to say to abstain from physical things or say conventionality is bad but I'm speaking more in the vein of "you are not your body". If you want to be more conscious of your body, or fully conscious of your body, this is wonderful. Your body is your temple.

Honestly in the sense that your body isn't even your body, nothing exists apart from anything else, universal oneness is the only reality in terms of simultaneous oneness and difference. If this helps to understand where I'm coming from.

It occurs to me that one's astrological makeup could be fairly significant here because some people choose to investigate and experience things more intellectually or more physically or more emotionally than others and I certainly do not presume to say that one way is better or worse than the other. If you are very into your body naturally tho from your astrological predispositions then I should think it to be even more important to expand your perspective about it. Not saying that being in your body is bad any more than being an Earth sign is bad. Just saying that the body is no end in itself, keep digging!!!

To me, when I'm REALLY feeling the inner body, it feels like my entire state of consciousness is sucked out of my mind, and inserted into whatever part of the body that is currently being felt. But most of the time, "I" just notice each part of the body and there is a slight tingling sensation.

In my opinion, if this electricity is uncomftorable, it may be futuristically problematic and worth investigating.

If it feels good, then your inner body is probably REALLY f*cking alive.

Hey I don't want to put words in his mouth he is an awesome guy.. I read The Power of Now and A New Earth and seeing him speak on the net I can tell he is truly not a faker.. hmmmm perhaps I have misspoken by using the word "literally" there.. hmmmm... you must understand that even in buddhist thought and all that there are different ways of looking at it and much debate and contention.. Tolle's view is incomplete only in The Power of Now, it is only one book is all I meant to say.. but what I mean is that some would say that they have reached the heights of spiritual attainment and would advocate to be fully in one's body.. but there are different people saying different things in this area of thought.. one is not limited to their body.. i mean one does not exclusively see the insides of their body, right? One sees around them.. one cannot focus their awareness of presence of being exclusively onto their body anymore than one's eyes may remove themselves from their sockets and pivot 180 to look upon themselves (although they would not be there but you get what I mean).. I think "inner" body really means your true self and not so much inside your physical body.. it means inside your ego, down to your core.. and coming at it from a bodily incarnated perspective, you look at your body n all.. hmmm.... deep down.. what do you feel in your gut?.. it's not your gut at all.. you have subtle bodies and everything don't forget.. but so you call it an "inner body".. I would prefer to call it that metaphysical stuff that is you that is so subtle you can never touch it, the sum of your realizations, a pattern of sentient consciousness, progressing in linear fashion so as to evolve, with a conscious control agency that is YOU. You find none of this in your body, only chakras, etc.... working on your ego in terms of feeling your inner body is part of the battle, yes.. I do not know how advanced you are at well fighting your own self haha.. but having accomplished this life goes on and you have a base of realization to build on, in that you understand how things work and you are able to maintain your being in a self-sufficient manner.. all spiritual self work hasn't to do with the inner body.. and moreover what I'm trying to say lol is, that going about it from the perspective of considering and working with your inner body, this is one way of doing it, but it is not the only way.... just some food for thought! I'd be happy to speak with you more about this? I want you to be IMPECCABLE like I know you can be. 8-)

The Power of Now is an excellent book to get one started, but don't take that feeling the body thing to literally! Basically Tolle is saying by this that often we suppress negative feelings such as guilt, shame, anger, etc... If you are fully in touch with your body then you will not let such things foster.. don't forget what enlightenment is about: you recognize emotions as they arise and you simply let them pass without identifying with them whatsoever.. recognizing why they arise in the first place to the extent that you need to work out why 'they' are not 'you'.. appreciation without attachment. The perspective/state of awareness from which you do this, it is your state of being itself that can be more or less enlightened.. here the three unconditional and innate universal emotions are permanent albeit more or less realized or forgotten.. love, joy, and compassion.. free of dualistic and egocentric polarity.

So in other words The Power of Now is not the be all end at it is a good road sign.. consider that you do not feel your body, because your body is inanimate, and it is certainly not you in the first place.. where you a lung, a blood vessel, a bone or muscle, or some such thing, then the situation would be otherwise.. rather I believe you should reformulate your question about feeling your body along the following lines.. what frame/perspective/state of awareness do you wish to regard not only your own body from but indeed the entire world around you and your (relative to the extent that the distinction between Self and Other is relative) PRESENCE therein.. do you only ever see through your human eyes?.. no, the correct way to See is to be fully present in the Now so that you consider your body as part of your surrounding.. this does involve a tricky mental maneuver of reconciling the difference that you only ever observe your surroundings through your physical body.. but still although the eyes are the window to the soul so to speak they are not your state of awareness and they do not themselves decide how you choose to perceive reality!.. this all has to do a lot with what kind of presence you have in terms of your state of awareness in terms of activity vs. passivity (not either/or of course).. do you WANT and CHOOSE to be HERE NOW?.. or does your body exist despite yourself and you just follow its queues? Of course you are born physically from your body but eventually you manage to wake up.. that is the whole point I believe yes?.. so then you CHOOSE to be HERE NOW.. regardless if in the past you were just a drift of imagination following your body around..

Electrical feelings in your body is an entirely different point.. and it yes can seem cool at first and you will probably get carried away with its coolness and wish deep down that you were superman.. haha, it's only human don't worry.. you could choose to investigate this more fully.. but honestly the science of it is probably pretty boring and certainly of no interest to me!.. just remember that if you FEEL something IN your body then it is NOT your body but it may have something to do with your chakras or other things admittedly aligned in overlap with your body.. look at it from the wholesome perspective of thinking of yourself as a hmm well living breathing god with a bunch of spiritual faculties if you like.. don't start wondering about your nanolites interacting with your nerve cells producing a chain reaction energetic electrical discharge of a baloney nature.

I went through a period where I practiced Qi Gong and during this time I became increasingly aware of inner sensations. They were often of an electro-magnectic nature, so I don't think there is anything weird going on if you're feeling electricity/static when you focus on your inner body. One of the most intense feelings of this type I had was when I was with a dozen or so other practitioners and the energy field felt like I was surrounded by a sort of static cotton wool. I've read 'The Power of Now' and when I practice the same thing as yourself, the feeling is pretty much the same as the kind I used to get from Qigong.
