The Earth-Holmes synodic cycle is about 530 days in duration; and of course, this specific synod and its message creates a hallmark of extreme significance in our evolutionary progression. The comet is currently seen north of the ecliptic because its orbital plane is tilted 19.113° to Earth's orbital plane (the ecliptic); and the comet is at its most northern point in its orbit, which happens to occur in Perseus.

The previous Earth-Holmes synodic cycle ends with Holmes passing through Triangulum and into Perseus. Triangulum can best be summed up with the phrase "Let thine eye become single"-- meaning to lift our vision above and beyond the dramatics occurring in the world that can pull us into a lower entrapping resonance; and to also see beyond any fear-based judgments of dark verses light. Perseus, as he flies upon Pegasus over fear-instilling Cetus, the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, to free Andromeda, sets his sight upon Triangulum; thus, holding this vision of singularity, of unified consciousness -- of the unified field of Creative Intelligence / Cosmic Consciousness. This is our prerequisite to achieve our missions and Divine destiny, to be able to demonstrate the heroism and success that the constellation Perseus embodies.

The new synodic theme itself is set by the foot of Perseus, which is created by Atiks; Zeta Perseus; and the potent neutron star, X-Perseus. This alignment brings a powerful capacity to infuse the spiritual power gained from our initiations in life and to manifest our longer-term purpose and destiny in the physical world. Note that this occurs after Perseus has slain Medusa, marked by Algol at the Taurus cusp. Algol, the head of Medusa held in Perseus' hand articulates the act of slaying our own fears, that which can freeze us in our tracks. Here at the foot of Perseus we are asked to audaciously claim the true gift of the inner refinement that the past initiatory fires of life have catalyzed.

If true, that might alter its course." Nobody can really know for certain, but that's a good a theory as any, colliding with an asteroid belt object. Especially considering that comet Holmes apparently does this brightening thing periodically in its history. Possibly indicating that every time it swings through that area it collides with something there.

The scientific explanation given for why it would then brighten is because the collision causes holes and chunks in the comet, and then explosive outgassing (? is that the term?) takes place - like what you see in the movie "Deep Impact." And maybe that's the case. But maybe there are other things that can go on with comets. And I'm still not fully buying the whole ice tail thing. Just seems odd that such a simple small thing like ice could produce the huge sweeping tails that we see. But who knows. I'm not an astronomer. And I'm naturally suspicious of anything they tell us.

What caused the comet to become that much brighter? Did it run into a powerfully charged electromagnetic field cloud or something? Or maybe it is a mothership that decided to turn up the power. Or maybe some weird dimensional riff opened up on the comet allowing energy to spew from another dimension into the center of the comet and outwards into the physical universe causing it to light up like a light bulb.

Science Centric wrote:

Mystery comet explodes into brightness

A once-faint comet has made a sudden leap from obscurity to centre stage. Comet 17P Holmes, now visible to northern hemisphere residents, increased its brightness by a factor of one million this week, going from magnitude 17 to 2. This makes it visible to the unaided eye as well as binoculars and telescopes, offering a unique viewing opportunity for sky watchers.

‘This is a terrific outburst,’ said Brian Marsden, director emeritus of the Minor Planet Centre, which tracks known comets and asteroids. ‘And since it doesn’t have a tail right now, some observers have confused it with a nova. We’ve had at least two reports of a new star.’

Comet Holmes is located in the constellation Perseus and is visible for most of the night. In fact, for observers at the latitude of Boston, the comet is circumpolar, never setting below the horizon. In appearance, it resembles a fuzzy, yellowish star. The comet could fade in a matter of days or weeks, so astronomers recommend that viewers take a look now. Sky charts showing where to look for the comet are online at 1 and 2.

Amateur astronomer Edwin Holmes, who was looking at the Andromeda galaxy at the time, discovered Comet Holmes in 1892. The comet has presented a mystery to astronomers ever since. It likely was undergoing a similar outburst when discovered, since it reached 4th magnitude and was faintly visible to the unaided eye. After fading, it brightened again by a factor of 100 in January 1893 before fading again for good.

The comet orbits the Sun once every 7 years at a distance of about 200 million miles (compared to Earth’s 93-million-mile orbit). As a result, it was re-observed in 1899 and 1906 before being lost for nearly six decades. Based on a prediction by Marsden, the comet was recovered in 1964.

‘Since then, it’s been behaving well — until now,’ says Marsden.

On 23 October, the comet was a dim 17th magnitude, 25,000 times too faint to be seen with the unaided eye. One day later, it had brightened to 7th magnitude, and the most recent observations peg it at magnitude 2 to 3: an increase of a factor of one million. (The magnitude scale used by astronomers is logarithmic.)

‘When the Deep Impact probe hit Comet 9P Tempel, there was almost no change in brightness,’ says Marsden. ‘This outburst by Comet Holmes is extreme!’

Indeed, the outburst has left experts scratching their heads. How could a tiny comet, whose nucleus is no more than two miles across, grow so bright so fast? Perhaps a crack opened in the comet’s surface, exposing fresh ice to the sun and causing an explosive eruption of dust and gas. No one knows for sure. Undoubtedly, professional astronomers will be studying it closely in the weeks to come.

Sky coordinates for Comet 17P Holmes can be found on the Minor Planet Centre website at http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/Ephemeri … 017P.html.

And from other sources:

http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observin … 75326.html

http://cometography.com/pcomets/017p.html

http://www.spaceweather.com/comets/gallery_holmes.html
