I've thought that many times myself.  You can totally see into stalls when you walk past them when the cracks are over an inch wide.  Ridiculous.  I've also been in bathrooms where the stalls were completely enclosed rooms, with doors that had doorknobs.  Like dressing rooms.  Nice.  That's how they should all be.

The only time I've seen completely enclosed stalls with doorknobs was when I've visited Canada....it was nice, civilized, you know.

Then again, the entrapment thing bothers me, too.  If two grown, consenting men whom I don't know want to do the nasty in a bacteria-filled bathroom--without subjecting others to seeing it--why is that my business?  This story is only of interest because of the hypocrisy issue.  If it were some random Joe and Steve, I'd grimace and say, "Go on with your bad selves."

But one more thing-- I thought (naively, of course) that in order for someone to be arrested for solicitation, they had to come out and say what they wanted, and/or pass money (in the case of prostitution).  I wasn't aware that foot-tapping, hand signals, and overly-long-crack-looking would stand up in court.

And pet rant here, but why the hell are there such big cracks in public restroom stalls anyway?   Would it kill them to design the stalls better?

What crime did he actually commit?   He tapped his foot.  That's it.

That's not what I read.  I read that the primary issue was the fact that he was looking through the crack of the bathroom stall door for a prolonged amount of time;  he also slid his foot under the stall and tapped the other guy, as well as doing something with his bag or briefcase.  He later defended his foot touching the other guy by saying his legs have a "wide berth" when he's sitting on the toilet.  Uh, okay.  ! 

Who knows if he's innocent, but again, it's just funny that it's always these tightly wound conservatives that get busted for deviancy.  Like they're all repressed and have to let the steam out somehow, then go to gay call boys and try to have bathroom trysts and what not, then feel guilty and get back on their church pulpit or political soapbox moralizing to the public about gays and morals and all that.

It's all side track diversion though.  Dish up a juicy "did he or didn't he?" sex scandal and watch the public go at it for weeks, meanwhile as other stuff slips by under the radar.............

Then again it's a weird coincidence that he pulled this on a cop of all people.  Strange bad luck and bad timing there.
