The woman's story could have some of those features to it.
And the skewing the target towards paranoia and nihilism
certainly fits.

The encounter bears some similarities to typical run-ins with matrix disinformation agents of the FRV robot type.

These types:

* target truth seekers who are still at a naive and easily influenced stage

* show up especially when the target is pursuing a spiritually unwise path

* enter under artificially synchronistic circumstances and use coincidental but superficial similarities to build rapport

*  drop clues about who they really are (saying they are very needy people, mentioning having attempted suicide, talking about how empty they feel inside, not feeling like themselves, being on psych meds, etc...).

* and then quickly and thickly lay on the disinformation, usually designed to undercut spiritual strength and awareness, and skew the target towards paranoia and nihilism.

* if the target does not follow along, they do the 180 degree turn and resort to put-downs, guilt-tripping, intimidation, and fake sweetness as a last resort to complete their mission.

Maybe not the case here, but I thought it worth mentioning since artificially synchronistic encounters with matrix agents does happen and awareness of that possibility is important.
