Ontario and Canada in general has a gazillion gems like this ... we actually went to another place just yesterday and it was very close to home - so amazing - saw these huge fish and some beavers and crazy birds ... i wanna start a "Discovery" thread !!

Wow. Huge fish you say. I hope it's not just carp . We have a lake near our house full of carp. That sounds amazing though. I've never seen a beaver. Do they have big teeth that they chew wood with like in the cartoons?

Is this conservation near the sea or closer inland? I know sea turtles are massive and live till like 100 but they swim around the big blue sea.

they actually reconstructed the village & so there's a "long house" (it's literally just a long house) where there used to be one a few centuries ago - they've also recreated some crops and whatnot - while we were there visiting, we met a caretaker of these grounds and in conversation, she ended up telling us about turtles, and how the native peoples would use turtle shells as a calendar because they correspond with the lunar calendar - 13 larger areas on the main part of the shell and then 28 smaller areas around the perimeter of the shell - of course not all turtle shells are like that, but some are ... i thought that was very neat ... and then after bumping into this lady who told us this about the turtle, we ended up going to another place close by where some kids playing in a river actually found a turtle - i was lucky enough to be able to see the turtle ... so i'm posting some of the pics of this place below just for fun:

and actually - someone on another forum posted this clip relating to The Holographic Universe and Michael Talbot - it's an interview with him, and it was something he said in there made me originally want to post this thing about the turtle's back and how it can sometimes relate to the lunar calendar - it was the thing about all pieces of the universe containing the whole ... in a more literal way i guess i was looking at the turtle's back and how it can visually simulate a calendar that way ... too cool ! the whole of nature, that is ... wahoo !
