all i can say is that nothing is set in stone.

the mayans probably were handed down this calendar by higher beings, and that 2012 date was the best and most probably outcome that these higher beings could project/envision.

The particular celestial alignment that is rehashed has taken place around at around 1999 not at 2012. But since the sundisc is quite large the alignment takes place every year for a century or so.

I know so very little about the Mayan Calendar and even less about this person who wrote the piece (and therefore can't comment beyond just posting the link), but I thought some others may find it interesting.

Me personally? I have to echo some words lyra wrote on another page somewhere, though not the same exact words... I have a feeling, not a "knowing", that there's something off about the Mayan Calendar, that its timeline may be off. I think I wrote this concern somewhere else on another thread and the idea got poo-pooed by another member... heeheehee, at least I didn't get booed !

Why do so many people think something big is going to happen in 2012?

One thing about the New World Order is that they obviously don't have a plan to simply wipe out the population as they could easily have done that on a much grander scale already. So I don't think we're ever going to have a nuclear way. If there are people planning for a NWO then I think the only logical explanation is that they want a world where it is more easy to control people and stop them realising their spiritual nature. And the signs I see say that's not going to happen - more and more people are realising.

I agree with your individual interpretation of the NWO-I thought that they might start a nuclear holocaust and they still might on a fairly minor scale.
I think that will use any impending big war to promote the NWO as a World government and convince the masses to bow to a false messiah.
The vast majority will goof and bow down to this false messiah therefore the NWO don't want to destroy mankind outright but they want to rule over them in the worst possible way.
I think that an awakening is definately occuring in all circles but don't be fooled into thinking that the average man walking the street isn't a brainwashed media puppet or a dupe for some sort of corrupt institution.
However your views on the impending trend of 2004 to 2012 is a pretty significent one.
Who knows what will happen-perhaps our interpretation is incorrect and Wandering1's is correct but I certainly think that the shift will occur.
The strange thing is though that every major authority on this subject either has your view or Wandering1's view on what will happen between 2004 to 2012.
Well at least we are close to the truth-either one or the other occurrence will happen.

2012 - 7 = 2005.  Interesting as it looks like 2005 may be the year where the US will kick it's military operations into higher gear with the new draft. That fits.

For me, it's partially intuitive and partially based on research.  According to some sources, the Mayan and Incan people placed importance on 2012.  I know people who have worked with shamans in Ecuador and Peru over several decades and these people have mentioned a "higher vibration" that is underway.

As far as the idea of that the NWO is not going to wipe out a lot of people because they would have done so already, I refer you to World War I and World War II.  In terms of wiping out even greater numbers of people and putting in place more overt control systems, I suggest that the NWO/Illuminati/Negative Alien agenda may be heavily centered around a possible upcoming shift. 

In order words, they are waiting to implement major parts of their plan until the final years before the shift.  They are acting on a time schedule that they see as being to their advantage.  If many people are expecting "business and life as usual" then they will likely be caught unaware when major changes occur.  There are references in various sources to the final 7 years before the culmination of the shift as a period of upheaval or tribulation.

with all I've read about the D.U.M.B.s (Deep Underground Military Bases) that are literally SPRINKLED THROUGHOUT THE GLOBE LIKE SAND and now with the FEMA 'camps', it's just too much.

The general consensus is that these camps will be used to nullify the few left over who would be resistant to a NWO takeover. This would ammount to some ~15 million Americans. But I thought, with the underground network of cities underground, couldn't they just herd folks underground, never to be seen from again?

I'm not a 'doom-and-gloomer', but I would not deny the existence of these camps expecially in light of what the Nazi Germans did to their 'nemesis'. The NWO elite are publicly admitted to view most of the worlds population as cattle and plan a global depopulation plan.

Maybe one of the most profound things that will happen (when the matrix breaks down) is that we will regain a genetic memory of where we are from, our true spiritual nature, and where we are going. I hear that this 'DNA trigger' will occur sometime during the time leading up to 2012.
