I am pretty sure that the majority of these operations are unnecessary and of course it means taking hormone supplements for the rest of their lives which we know can be carcinogenic. Thats part of the problem i think as these operations make loads of money for big pharma so the benefits to drug companies are clear.
Of course i understand that on rare occasions this may be needed though for medical reasons but always get a second medical opinion at least.

Perhaps seek some advice from a alternative practitioner, there are many good herbs for the menopause such as black cohash, wild yam, maca and others and most woman can find one or a combination that suits them. See here.

http://www.inkanat.com/en/maca/menopausia.htm
http://www.healthy.net/scr/Article.asp?Id=436

My mom is in her mid 50's and she is thinking about getting a hysterectomy. She's post-menopausal. My mom is completely healthy, but she said the doctor said her uterus has dropped 8 inches, and she should get a hystrectomy. I think it's such a unnatural thing to do, so I'm completely against doctors taking out the womb, and other sexual organ parts of a woman. It seems so barbaric, like something aliens would due to an abductee. It sounds horrible to me, and unnessary.

What would you reccommend? Would any of the women here have a hystrectomy done? have any of you had one? My friends mom died 3 years ago while having the surgery because they accidentally cut her bowel. Scary.
