[...]So the spherical terminal would essentially radiate “<strong>sound waves</strong>” into the ether, just as Tesla surmised. </p><p>[...] As a side note, the equation also shows what Tesla meant by his “radiant energy” (radiant as in radius rather than brilliant) being sound waves in electrified air. “<strong>Sound waves in electrified air</strong>” was his description for what we today call <strong>ion-acoustic waves</strong>. These are compression waves in charged plasmas, which due to their coupling to the ether produce longitudinal E/M waves.</p><p>[...]The key is that whereas DC currents involve a collective motion of electrons in one direction, and AC currents involve a collective motion that first goes forward then backward, what Tesla’s system employed was a <strong>collective compression and expansion of electrons</strong>. That follows from the coupling between divergent vector potentials and electron density. It is unique because a wire carrying such a “current” will have both ends pulling or expelling electrons at the same time. With DC, one end takes electrons while the other expels, same with AC except the ends switch roles with every cycle of oscillation. But with Tesla’s “<strong>cold electricity</strong>” both ends give and take simultaneously. (While AC-induced standing waves do similar, only cold electricity can do this at low frequencies, and for wireless transmission Tesla said lower frequency was better). This means there is <strong>zero net current</strong> flowing through the wire. And without current, <strong>resistance has no effect</strong>. In that case the electrons do not form an actual current so much as couple to the vector potential and amplify it along the way via the free-energy-from-time principle.</p></blockquote></div><p>...the idea being that sound waves in an electrified medium would propagate energy without generating heat. Regarding nerve conduction, maybe both old and new views are right, in that it does use electricity, and it does use sound waves, but in combination. </p><p>There is also this site:&nbsp; <a href="http://quantumbrain.org">http://quantumbrain.org</a> --- mentions quantum spin as the &quot;mind pixel&quot; - the lynchpin that connects consciousness to the material world. Maybe so. But I think quantum phenomena play a crucial part in anything to do with DNA, nerves, neurons, and the interaction between spirit and body. The longitudinal electric waves do have special quantum effects, so who knows... just some ideas.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<div class="quotebox"><blockquote><p>The common view that nerves transmit impulses through electricity is wrong and they really transmit sound, according to a team of Danish scientists.</p><p>The Copenhagen University researchers argue that biology and medical textbooks that say nerves relay electrical impulses from the brain to the rest of the body are incorrect.</p><p>&quot;For us as physicists, this cannot be the explanation,&quot; said Thomas Heimburg, an associate professor at the university&#039;s Niels Bohr Institute. &quot;The physical laws of thermodynamics tell us that electrical impulses must produce heat as they travel along the nerve, but experiments find that no such heat is produced.&quot;</p><p>Heimburg, an expert in biophysics who received his PhD from the Max Planck Institute in Goettingen, Germany — where biologists and physicists often work together in a rare arrangement — developed the theory with Copenhagen University&#039;s Andrew Jackson, an expert in theoretical physics.</p><p>According to the traditional explanation of molecular biology, an electrical pulse is sent from one end of the nerve to the other with the help of electrically charged salts that pass through ion channels and a membrane that sheathes the nerves. That membrane is made of lipids and proteins.</p><p>Heimburg and Jackson theorize that sound propagation is a much more likely explanation. Although sound waves usually weaken as they spread out, a medium with the right physical properties could create a special kind of sound pulse or &quot;soliton&quot; that can propagate without spreading or losing strength.</p><p>The physicists say because the nerve membrane is made of a material similar to olive oil that can change from liquid to solid through temperature variations, they can freeze and propagate the solitons.</p><p>The scientists, whose work is in the Biophysical Society&#039;s Biophysical Journal, suggested that anesthetics change the melting point of the membrane and make it impossible for their theorized sound pulses to propagate.</p><p>The researchers could not immediately be reached for comment.</p><p>Source: <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2007/03/09/science-nervessound-20070309.html">http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2007 … 70309.html</a></p></blockquote></div>]]></description>
