There are ways to get a particular file out there without password protect - you just sign up anonymously for a free hosting service and post your file. Most of the time it goes undetected.  But the more such files you keep in one spot, the sooner someone (most likely entering from a search engine) will get their panties in a bunch and have the hosting company remove the site. That's why an e-library should be password protected.

Today I scanned and converted a book into digital format - can send it to anyone now, without having to send it in the mail or wait for it to be returned. That's pretty convenient.

What I have in mind is an electronic library. Users can download or stream content, save it to their computers or burn it, all in the name of dissemination and preservation of information. So in addition to AV, it could include e-books and audio as well. The password-protect feature takes care of any legal issues.

Yeah, I'll discuss the details with Cameron offlist and see if this would be feasable. Anyone else is invited to email me with suggestions.

Well, it looks like it would be worth it to make available a copy over the web.  If it is made closed (not public access, some password protected space) we need not worry of copyrights.

If you do find yourself with a digital copy of the video, even if it's 650MB DV, I'm sure Montalk or I could do the compression and stream it over the web.  You could send the full video over the web (if you've got high-speed) or just send snail-mail a DVD to one of us.

If it's burned to Video-CD format, then it can be played on most DVD machines AND computer CDROM drives that don't have DVD capability. Just takes the right software, that's all.

thook is going to call a friend today to see if he can put it on dvd...not sure if he can, but worth a try.

planning on sending you a copy as you said you could help with distribution...

researched last night and a group got copyright to cooper's materials in the interest of keeping them public...will ck it out more to see if there are restrictions on posting the material and if there are links to such...

have not had a chance to get vhs tapes and try the hook up to make copies, but will this week...we can email to exchange info.
