Yeah, most slap stick isn't too funny anymore.  And I don't find the humor in Dr. Doolittle either... But for some mortifying reason, I always laugh my head off whenever there's a cow involved... like in Rat Race and Me, Myself & Irene.  Later, it's not funny to me at all... but the first time I see it I'm laughing my head off. *shrug*

One example of something that would be funny if you saw it in a movie happened when I was in the hospital last year.  I was in ICU for two days before they wheeled me upstairs to a "normal" room, and as I was just getting settled into bed and all, the nurse walked in and introduced herself and went over the schedule of their shifts and was asking me about myself.... Well, we're in the middle of having a nice chat when all of a sudden some old man in a room down the hall yells, "HELP!!!!!....HELP - ME!!....HELP!!....HELPME!!.....HELPMEHELPMEHELPMEHELPME!!!"  .... And my nurse (and apparently no other staff on the floor) seems to take any notice and just continues on as if there was no outburst!!! My father was in the room also, and he and I exchanged a look of utter comical astonishment, and then my dad says to my nurse, "Maybe somebody should go help him?"   My nurse looks up politely and calmly says, "Oh, he's just afraid.  He's old and gets lonely sometimes."  And then she turns back to me and continues on with what she was saying... If I wasn't in so much pain, myself, I would have probably laughed until I was crying... It was such an absolutely absurd situation!  My dad and I still laugh about it (saying that the man sould have yelled "FIRE" instead), but no one else I tell about it seems to think it's too humorous.  Maybe you just had to be there, but it was just like something right out of a comedy script!

Ugh!! I know!  I can't believe that people actually get paid to come up with stuff like that!  I always wonder who pitched the idea to the studio on that one?!  The other movies that annoy the crap out of me are those b-rate "one man army", Steven Segal-type movies.  Like one meat head with a machine gun (that never runs out of ammo) is going to single-handedly save the world!   I know there's a whole audience for those types of movies, but I just can't stand them.   It's just more mindless blow-em-up, shoot-em-up, crack-assed bullshit violence with no plot.

I'm sorry, but I cracked up when I read this!  For some reason, I could picture Dane Cook doing it, and I got a good chuckle.

Still, though, I find it ironic that while most of us are aghast at what the majority of "Reptilians" do, there's some nutter out there that wants to make himself into one!!... maybe he was a Reptilian in a former/parallel life?... Like a transgender person, but he's a trans-species person.

Well, I've never found physical slap stick funny, for instance, which is what I assume you're talking about.  So I hear ya.  I think it's stupid, and just not funny.  Even worse is when animals and critters are used as part of the gag.  "Oh, it's just fake!"   Oh, I don't care.  I don't want to see it, period.   !!

Funny you used those two specific movies....I'm ALWAYS citing these two movies as examples myself.  Every time we're at Blockbuster I hold up "Hostel" and wave it around and joke, "Let's rent this!"   Then I glance at the box and shudder, unable to fathom anybody who WOULD actually watch that "for fun."  Both movies glorify the torture of people.  It's so demonic on every level, and it doesn't matter that it's fake. It's the idea that counts.  And many people can't seem to "get" that.   Ah well.

It could make for an interesting side topic actually, people's thoughts on why it's "okay" or acceptable to watch scenes of fictional horror and violence, but then turn around and get all miffed and offended by a variety of other seemingly mundane things in life.

I agree... Actually, there's another spin on things that we find "okay" in movies or TV and "not okay" in reality... The comedy factor... Y'know, I've noticed that we think it's okay to laugh at certain things if they're viewed on a show or a movie, but if similar things happen in real life, no one laughs, and if you are the only one who does laugh, everyone looks at you like you're crazy.

But back to the gore factor of life vs. movies... I think there's a difference between knowing something is a special effect versus realizing that certain special effects are being carried out in reality.  It's like the difference between a porno and a snuff film... I know that's a really horrible and blunt example, but one that kind of fits, in an extreme way.  Personally, I can't stand to watch those gory b-rate horror movies...not because of the gore, but because it's just so stupid.  But what does bother me are movies like "Hostel" or "Saw"...I keep thinking that there are some truly disturbed sicko's watching these kinds of movies with a notepad, just itching to take a trip to the hardware store and try that shit out on their next victims in real life.  *shiver*  Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine why or how movies like that could ever be considered "entertainment". 

The problem to me seems that it's when people take fiction too far and translate it into reality.  The reverse of that, though, is equally disturbing... those "based on real events" movies usually gloss over the more gory details (like the Jeffrey Dahmer movies).  I have yet to see a "based on actual events" movie of the gory crap that Reptilians and MILABS get up to with the general populace... now that I'd shell out $12 to see on a Saturday night!

Good surgeon! lol!  I'd be really curious as to why he's so obsessed with the idea of lizards in the first place... I mean, that's just beyond abnormal psychology.  How does he blow his nose with that big ol' ring in it... (then again, I always wonder that about people with nose piercings... maybe I just have allergies too much, but nose piercing seems stupid to me)  And those teeth!!...haha... Thanks for the plug!  I've been experimenting with home treatments, and I might try this one next.  Where do you buy it?  Do you use it the same way the Neutrogena ones work-- once every couple of days  or so?

It's a face cream moisturizer, so, you just put it on after you wash your face.  I've seen it sold where I live at both Whole Foods, and Rebecca's Natural Foods.  Not sure if it's sold in mainstream drug stores or whatnot, but you could buy it online.  That brand has a line of creams that do different things.  I bought this particular one since it seemed like a nice general, all around repair cream to wear day or night.   For me I just noticed that my face did indeed appear toned and slightly tighter/lifted, less droopy, and the pores had shrunk.   I also wash my face with Queen Helene Oatmeal and Honey face scrub, (with crushed walnut shells) which is an exfoliant.  The honey in the QH scrub helps smooth the skin too.   Between a daily exfoliant to rid dead skin cells and stimulate the face, and a good moisturizer repair cream, one can really improve their skin and overall face appearance!    Another side tip/product plug:   I first discovered walnut shell scrubs back in '99 and I've never looked back.  Before using them, I'd always have at least one, two, maybe three little zits on my face at any given point.  That completely stopped after.  The one I first started using was a little plastic container of apricot and sea kelp walnut shell scrub for 99 cents.  Some brand I found at Albertson's in California.  I thought the ingredients looked cool, so gave it a shot, why not.  Scrubby face stuff with kelp and apricot...what a trip!     And it worked like a dream!   But then the product just disappeared off the face of the earth!  I was very distraught....hehe......so much so that I had a premonition dream that "urged" me to go to the Sav-On drugs on El Toro road...I would find a replacement face scrub there.   So I went...and found Queen Helene, recognized that this was what I was supposed to try.  Been hooked ever since.....

Everybody has different skin, but if I had to give a general "recipe" to start with for skin care, I'd say first improve diet, and drink lots of absorable water.  Get plenty of Omega-3's...for me I take flax seed supplements, 5 pills a day, every day now.  Omega 3's (and 6's) are much needed for hair, skin and nails, and for an all around healhier body.  Lipoic acid supplements seem to be a good thing too for me as well;  lipoic acid works for all around body cell regeneration, hence, why they're putting it in face cream now.     Stimulate cell turnover/regeneration, fill in lines and fade out spots.   Get enough rest too, of course.  Get just enough sun to give your complexion some color, but for the most part avoid excessive sun exposure.  = wrinkles and leather face.   Anytime I've tanned at the beach in the past my face is always covered.   Find a decent exfoliant that doesn't have too much crap in it.  That's why I prefer Queen Helene over that St. Ives brand one that you see in every chain drugstore in America.  And get a good non-greasy, repair moisturizing cream loaded with vitamins and stuff that tones and lifts.  But, that's just me, and I'm sure 50 people would jump on here and criticize and say this is all bunk.  !  oh well, it seems to work for me! 

Well I won't be a hypocrite...I want to look good and stay youthful.     Recently, due to months of poor eating and sleeping habits and other factors I began looking a bit run down.  My face just looked droopy and weary.  I took some pro-active measures and bought a product I have to take a moment to plug here:

!  Amazing product.  Plug plug plug!!!   Derma e brand "Alpha Lipoderm/Alpha Lipoic Green Tea Advanced Repair Complex."  This stuff WORKS.   Within one week my face looked different.  It's loaded with Alpha Lipoic acid, jojaba oil, green tea extract, and loads of Vitamin A, C, D and E.  The box promises "Regular use of this product will help to achieve firm, toned skin and a smoother complexion.  Fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, and other skin irregularities will show visible signs of diminishing."   Well, it certainly did.  !  Pores shrunk, skin's all smooth...AND toned, and when I look in the mirror I no longer cringe!    A new face!      Okay, slight exaggeration...BUT....there was a big difference.  Big enough that I'm plugging it and saying it's worth the $17.   I also started taking separate Alpha Lipoic acid supplements and tons of flax seed oil. The whole thing combined can't be a bad thing. 

I think the proper skin care and diet and plenty of sleep and water when we're young will prevent the need for butchering one's face when we're old!
