I thought you were saying he had mysteriously followed you to this new job which you had just quit. If he hired you at a prior job, why was he coming to work at this new one? Coincidence? Sounds like he followed you for some weird reason.

Those weird things have happened to me before too. A frustrating phoneroom manager finally put me over the edge at a job back in '97 so I decided to quit after some months. (we just didn't get along - she seemed to me to have some weird vandetta out against me) I ended up working at another phoneroom which was one of the competitors of the one I quit and was glad to have removed myself from this womans presence. After working there for some months it turns out we're getting a new phoneroom manager and guess who it is! The same lady. Our new business relationship lasted about three days: I told them I was going to the store on break and never came back.

XD

Well today was my last day at this place. As I walked out of the managers office, I saw a familier face in one of the departments...and this guy saw me. I recognised him straight away...but he only seemed to barely recognise me. Well he come over to me and said hello - as he had just started working there.

He recognised my name and said "Yeah, didn't we used to go to college together?"...

Errr...well yeah sure...why not?!

He was actually the guy who employed me in my last weirdo job; the job I left without telling them...and never went back. So he began reminising with me about this college that I supposedly went to with him. The lessons and the people etc. I told him my memory was terrible with regards to college hehe...

Well as I walked off, he began boasting to the people in his dept. about how he knows me from college! Wonder how long it will take him to twig on...

And what were the chances of him ending up at the same company as me just as I left...

As a carpenter (actually I am a furnituremaker/cabinetmaker) I have often worked for companies that kept me off the books, so to speak. I am fairly certain I was designated as a salesperson (commissioned) on their books. I was easily let go, and a convenient excuse when the *sh*t hit the fan. I have never been called into court because a kitchen didn't live up to the sales designer's promise. In your case though, the company is not following the law and you are being treated as a disposable entity. Considering someone's life may depend on your quick response, doesn't it seem strange how the top boss was not overly concerned?

Reference: Dr, M.

Seems I have done it yet again, and found myself in another weirdo job...

I decided a few months ago to try and get a part-time job to increase my earnings whilst my business picks up. After a few weeks I found a IT Helpdesk role for just 19 hours a week, pretty ideal. Well I went for the interview, and was offered the job there and then. All neat and the pay is good too!

During the interview my now boss told me that the only shifts left for the job were night-work. Ok I thought, never done it before, but I will give it a go. He then said "But you will not be working with many people at that time of night". At the end of the interview he asked me if I had any questions...I asked how many people is "not many". He looked a bit thoughtful, told me it was a very good question - and then said I would be working on my own. Well...ok...I guess. Least I get no attitude from people etc.

So I started the job, and after four weeks get my first pay, but no pay-slip. I checked with the payroll office, and they told me that the company wants to keep me off the books!

Yeah right...

So I kick up a little, wanting to know just what capacity I have been employed in. Permanent, temp, or self-employed and how long I would be there. The payroll office had no idea. So eventually I speak with the top boss at the UK branch. And she had no idea either...so I am still awaiting an answer on that one.

Well then I went into work last night. The company I work for deals with tech. support to the medical industry. So there on my computer is this new "study" that I will have to provide support for. I read it through and one thing jumps out at me. The study is for people who are highly depressed...they will be phoning me for tech. support on their PDA's.

Now their PDA's are rigged in such a way that if the patient answers questions in a certain manner a suicide alert will be triggered. And guess what!? That alert will then be sent to the tech. support team - of all people!!

So - once we receive this suicide alert we have to phone a 24hr help line to get assistance.

Yeah - looks like I ended up working in the Samaritans. What a joke. Those poor people need mental / physical help and all that happens is an e-mail gets sent to some computer guy. Thing is, I am pretty bad when it comes to keeping up to date with my e-mail...so what a responsibility!

Seems that it is going to be yet another job that I leave after a very short time...
