limukala wrote:

Marcus, as far as your description of American birthing practices goes, it is pretty outdated from my experience. While most American birthing procedures leave much to be desired, I think those massive nurseries are basically a thing of the past. Almost all hostpitals here leave the baby in the room with the mother following the birth, and if the mother is breastfeeding, they will put the baby directly on the mother's breast first thing. For instance, when my daughter was born (and my friends with children confirm that this is normal now), the only time they took her away from us was the next day, for about 30 seconds to measure her (I would have gone with them, but I was pretty tired by then). They recommended for us to stay 48 hours, but nobody tried to stop us when we left the next morning instead (maybe 20 hours, and only because my wife was worn out). The only thing they forced on us was the hospital birth, since we are on state medical and they won't pay for home births (and a birth is not something I'm gonna DIY if I don't have to).
The doctors and all the nurses at the county medical center were very supportive and strongly recommended breast-feeding too, and this is the norm now. So, while the medical profession in general is pretty rotten, at least in this aspect they have improved dramatically in the last few decades.

Great that they have improved in this area then! Would this be in most / all states, or just a select few? It's encouraging to hear these things.

Warning, probable gross generalisations ahead.

In my experience, living way out in the bush here in Australia, I have found the older people here (60+) to be much more resilient, down-to-earth and yes, real. They have a general mistrust of authority and in particular bureaucracy, although most are natural 'conservative' voters so there are some fundamental disconnects when one probes deeper. For example, they'll trust the government 'to do the right thing' on the fear based issues of which they have (or wish to have) little understanding: terrorism, border control etc., yet distrust them intensely on the issues that impact their own lives (eg. all the pointless rules and regulations that go with farming in particular, visiting doctors and other 'professionals').

The third party in Australian politics has always been linked to the refrain that they're there "to keep the bastards honest" so it is true to say many country Australians, at least, have a total mistrust of the government, whomever is in power. We get fined if we don't vote so you can see the contempt for which (or is it apathy) most Australians have for the political process.

With regard to automatic responses, I do not see such in this age group. They are considered and sometimes strident in their responses and views. They want to hear how you are, not just uttering a few words for the sake of it. Many are/were farmers whose livelihood and indeed lives sometimes have dependend upon their ability to think for themselves and be relatively independent of the rest of the world. When they retire, most are still very active and involved in the community, and on the whole, very caring and in remarkably good health - better health certainly than I see in many of their 40 - 60 year old 'children' and sadly then their children.

It has interested for a long while why this might be so, and I appreciate I might only be interacting with the healthy septugenarians +, yet go down a generation and the chronic health issues are much worse, issues that have the ability to kill people off before they get to sixty, let alone a robust eighty-five.

I have come to believe it is a mix of the nutrient-dense food and self-responsiblity that was instilled into this earlier generation at an earlier age. They might not have had all the food they wanted, nor even the affection, but many had high-quality, nutrient dense food and this, and their generally resilient upbringing, with a lot of self-responsibility instilled into it, appears to have served them well. Their lives also had meaning from dawn to dusk, and even those that have retired remain vibrant parts of the community. In fact, sometimes I am astonished at their energy.

Having lived on the coast for several years, with a lot of retirees, previous to this, the comparison could not have been more stark. Many there were somewhere between say obesity and death, with mowing the lawn to within an inch of its life on a regular basis, having the house spotless, or watching the neighbours, their only distractions from eating, sleeping and drinking. Programmed responses were the norm, supermarket food trolleys were laden with crap to eat and there seemed to be no meaning with which to live from one day to another, merely existence.

Of course, there are country people like this and town people who show resilience and yes, life! but these were the impressions overall that I gained. The coast life provided ample opportunity for easy walking, paddling and enjoyment of the free joys - sea air, fantastic views, sunshine, wildlife but compared to 'going down the club' or sitting at home in front of the telly, or shopping, nature did not seem to rate highly. The more meaning was lost, for this was all I could put it down to in the end, the more 'programmed' and 'automatic' people seemed to become. Not to mention firmly xenophobic.

I talk about the protective effects of nutrient-dense food because I have experience of the effects of nutrient imbalance, minerals specifically, on people's health; mental, physical and emotional. It's not the whole enchilada, it can't be, but it does bring up some interesting (well, to me anyway) points. We are all aware of the 'attention deficit child' but the opposite is very apparent in the older age groups where often clogged bowel - due to poor digestion and food choices, equals clogged brain. If the brain doesn't have the nutrients it needs, as with the rest of the body, the light begins to go out. Far be it from me to suggest that we are merely biochemical beings, of course not, I am purely talking 'physical' effects here of nutrient-deprived food since most humans still need to eat.

In this state, one doesn't then have to be abducted or replaced to become a shell of one's former self. The eyes are dull and the lights are out, all by one's own hand. And it is an insidious pit to climb out of because the amotivation caused by chemical imbalance makes choosing life-affirming foods (presuming they are grown in nutrient-dense soils which is so rarely the case) even harder because, frankly, one can't think straight, even if one has the understanding to do so. Couple that with a heavy dependence on social alcohol and there go a few million more brain cells a week.

So this I see a lot in the elderly who live without meaning, but not so much in those who have meaning which appears to drive them to care more what they're eating, drinking, how they're living (the quality or lack thereof). Does the lack of meaning lead to poor choices, or does the poor sustenance lead to lack of meaning?

Certainly the older country folk have their own veggie gardens, this is not so prevalent in their sons and daughters. And whilst they might have and still use chemicals on their farm (some of which are mandated by law), they don't on their veggies. As I said, disconnects abound.

The 40 - 60s age group are also very interesting. They didn't have the 'nutritional start' that their parents had, and are falling apart faster - chronic problems are rife. The medication levels that I see are staggering, the drug interactions by themselves hideous and 'intervention' is happening earlier and earlier. These people are sprinting now to try and keep up, not just running. As them why and they're not really sure. Ever more, ever quicker, ever faster and of course on a biological level, there is only so long one can hammer one's adrenals before 'burn out' occurs. But that happens to someone else doesn't it? Since the endocrine system works on a 'one out, all out' basis, the thyroid is rarely far behind and this hampers recovery because the 'fire in the hearth' is burning very low as the thyroid slows down.

When the body loses energy, it is not difficult to see that the repair functions start to fail. Conversely, what I see when the energy is raised is that the body starts to heal what it needs to heal and all manner of problems frankly just 'go away'.

My point here, yes, there is one (!) is that low functioning adrenals or thyroids also have an effect on brain function and tend to make people run on automatic pilot. They haven't got the energy to respond sincerely, even if they could remember how to. They're in permanent, exhausted, 'fight-or-flight' and that's not a good place for strategic thinking, sincerity in communication or relationships, because their mind's just not there, it's off, planning the next thing to be done or wanting to just switch off and sleep.

There may well be people being replaced on a large scale, I don't know, but a lot who are living, breathing humans are 'counting themselves out' because of the way they run their lives, hammer their bodies etc.. and once we're 'in', it's tough to get 'out' again, at least just looking at the biochemistry. We're the perfect take-over planet from this perspective, too damn knackered to resist.

Yet, even under this nutrient deficit, chemical kosh, (merely one way of mind control if you like) I see more and more people unleashing themselves, saying 'I'm not doing this any more, it's killing me' and their changes inspire others and so it goes on.

I have enjoyed this forum for a few years, thanks to all who have supported me on my journey with their contributions.

Kindest regards.

Sheila.

It's a 15 minute journey and this week I was grillied exactly as Empirical was with all this 'are you ok? why are you so quiet? are you man?' shit.

But the people in the car that you were traveling with on the way to the football/round ball game didn't technically "hunt you down" nor "appear from nowhere." You got in a car with them, willingly and voluntarily. Nobody makes you play football with them. Nobody makes you get in a car with them. You put yourself in that position, every week. I can totally understand on the one hand your original observations/complaints and rants in the opening post, and as somebody else noted, it's normal and most of us here have felt the same thing in our own lives about the various people we see around us. So much weird behavior in the world, so little time to mention it all! But on the other hand, what Sensei Dennis is saying is very true and worth highlighting:

Sensei Dennis wrote:

May I ask what part of your consciousness continues to attract you to such people, and them to you? It is there , look deep. Change your consciousness, and you change your experience. Or do you think that this experience is coming from somewhere outside your own good self?

So, we really truly do attract people/experiences to ourselves, whether we realize it or not. I have so many stories about various types of people I've attracted to myself over the years, and the types of things people would be "drawn" to say to me while around me, and always there was a pattern. It was showing me where my own thoughts/mentality were at that moment in my life. Our thoughts/personality/mentality create a field around us that others pick up on, without even realizing they're doing it. It's like our experiences, insecurities, hopes and dreams are floating around us, invisible, but which is unconsciously accessed by others who come into contact with us. It causes them to treat us they way they do, to say certain things to us, and so on. Now granted, sometimes those people have "stuff" working through them to get them to do and say the things they do to us...."agents", if you will, for lack of a better way to put it....but still, even in that case, the "stuff" working through them is only responding to your inner thoughts, personality and mentality.

In my own case, when things changed within me, those people and situations no longer were being pulled in by me, and I no longer had people saying particular things to me, feeling compelled to treat me a certain way. As of this moment, I use the people around me to gauge my own inner workings, which may be unconscious to my outer self. If people around me start treating me with disrespect, "bulldozing" over me, saying snippy things and pushing me around then I know.......uh oh, I'm emitting something that's drawing people like that in and pulling that reaction out of people who already have that latent "bully" persona. Back to the drawing board to figure out why I'm attracting in those people and those reactions.

You may be aware of that line from the Matrix where Morpheus tells Neo, "No Neo, I'm telling you that when you're ready, you won't have to." Morpheus was referring to how when Neo was "ready" he wouldn't have to dodge bullets anymore. That's a higher concept that refers to a lot of things, not just physical acts of dodging things. When we're "ready," and our mentalities change, we no longer have to outrun, dodge, or face confrontations with pod people and harassers and so on, we no longer have to deal with the petty annoyances we previously drew to ourselves. We won't have to think up tactical defenses for them anymore..................because we'll no longer be drawing them in to us in the first place, or unconsciously putting ourselves in their line of fire.

Back to the originol post, could this be a question of tolerance and allowing thes epeople to suck you dry?, i work with these people every day and take a kind of pleasure in being different to them (down ego down boy), i never allow their realities to impinge on mine but can still involve myself in trivial conversations with them and even have the odd laugh which costs me nothing at all. Those people are not me or my reality so how can they upset me?

I have generally found that being quite outspoken on issues you do get a kind of almost subconsious respect from many of these peole and if you keep an inner smile as though they are children and an awareness about you while with them i think this helps too.

Well said, Barefoot Doc!

You don't necessarily have to abandon your teammates, Mahatma, especially if it pains you so much. It can be frustrating, yes. Withdraw when you need to and find a way to release those frustrations in a positive way. You'll never be able to block out all the negatives in your life. In hindsight, I've come to realize that some of my worst enemies were in all actuality also my greatest allies. It kills me to say it, but it's true.

I wish I had time to comment on the rest of these subtopics. Suffice it to say this is Powerful stuff.

Wow.

I went through a phase where I thought I was going to be a total hermit and hate everyone. They seemed to be so tangled up with thier day to day physical lives that they forgot that we are not physical but spiritual at the core.

The way to get through this is to accept that you have no control over other and only yourself. Don't concern yourself with other people, they have freewill, and they make thier own choices, be it good or bad. All you can do is plant a seed of knowlage and wonder, and let it grow in them without your interference.

If you don't wish to have anything to do with people such as this, than don't.

Having contempt for these people however is like being angry at an infant. They are still sleeping, and it is up to us to wake them up.
