A few things have happened since my last post above.  On the Colbert pseudo-fan site they moved the message board to its own domain, http://www.colboard.com and added a sub-forum titled "Conspiracy Theories" to dump all the 9/11 stuff in since it was starting to bother the normal people.  Of course 9/11 is hardly the only subject of conspiracy theories, so before long myself and a few others started posting all manner of intricate Illuminati-type schemes illustrating how our world is constructed.  It's not huge but there is a receptive audience for this material, plus it is a *comedy* forum so there is always the underlying desire to lighten things up and make funny what normally isn't very funny.

So eventually discussion rolled around to what is sometimes crudely called the 'ultimate' conspiracy, namely that the Earth is under the control of energy-stealing reptilian aliens or whatever they are and this is the driving force behind the Illuminati/NWO.  Run-of the-mill stuff if you're versed in it but probably a little much for the average cable viewer to handle in one swallow.  Not too many people there seem to buy into this, which is probably a good thing, but there is now a running joke about reptiles/lizards ruling the world.

It's encouraging to even see this discussion taking place on a corporate-owned forum but it tends to reach a plateau pretty quickly.  As people here know, there are so many more elements to what is going on other than just reptiles or something like them helping the NWO cause 9/11, but the forum title "Conspiracy Theories" tends to keep the discussion from branching out into the more complex elements of the big picture.  They recently added another sub-forum entitled "Religion" which is a step in some direction but I don't need to tell you folks the problems that go with using that word.

I know cross-promoting message boards is a dicey netiquette issue but I have posted links to NR over there a few times.  I am trying to get a better idea of how to connect the idea of reptiles ruling us to the more positive aspects of metaphysics and spirituality.  I know it can be simplified down to the reptiles being a symbol for evil in terms of religion but this type of over-simplification seems to be what keeps people from thinking about things more broadly and trying to figure out what's really going on. 

It's quite an interesting time right now in so many respects.  The legislative balance of power in the U.S. appears to be about to shift to the other party, over 3/4 of people in the U.S. have trouble believing the official story of 9/11, and theories about reptiles ruling the earth are in theory getting used as material for comedy show writers.

As I type this the server appears to be down and I am not suggesting it has anything directly to do with 9/11 conspiracies, probably just increased traffic from a newly-popular site (partly due to a swarm of 9/11 truth movement people).

and I'm sure you can download it somewhere by now; I'll post when I find a good link.  The 9/11 scholars for truth symposium hosted by Alex Jones was held in L.A. on June 25 apparently and it aired on C-SPAN over the weekend and Tuesday.  I taped it, just finished watching it in its entirety and I have to say I think it would be pretty convincing to a mainstream audience.  It would at least make most neutral people ask questions.  Something is going on right now, "the worm is starting to turn" as a Mr. Sheen put it and I hope the outcome ends up being for the greater good.

That may be the funniest political interview Colbert has ever done.  The second half was just priceless!

Agreed.  Bill Hicks kind of opened me up to some of this stuff.  Hick's hated Bush Sr. I can't imagine what he'd be doing with Rove, Cheney, and GWB.

Very possible Mr. Moore would have had much more ammunition on one or two key topics.

Stephen Colbert in comparison launched a veritable blitzkrieg, an all out assault on so many fronts.

I really do think Michael Moore would have revealed far less, in hindsight I imagine Mark Smith of AP would be in agreement.

This has the feel of a completely unexpected attack, I do not think this was carried out to further any "agendas" as far as exposing an alternative entity (NWO) for us to rush into the arms of.

The possibility does exist, though.

When Mr. Colbert did his analogy of the nerve endings in the gut, I saw that as cornering the Prez in such a way I've never seen before.

He was speaking about truth, and that, for me was the most powerful moment in his wonderful tirade.

In front of 2,700 attendees, and the world, Bush was boxed in, absolutely nowhere to run, and no way of faking his reaction.

Exactly the situation his handlers have tried so diligently to insulate him from.

The media reaction to Colbert I did anticipate, scared little kittens.

Novice, welcome, and this isn't directed so much at you but to everyone who think's Stephen's routine on Saturday must necessarily be part of some nefarious design.  In this case I actually don't think it was vetted beforehand, at least not "fully".  As was mentioned earlier, the person who made the decision for Colbert to be the keynote entertainment was allegedly an AP reporter who is currently president of the organization.  From what I have read this decision was made sometime in late January.  And the organization in this case is basically the White House Press Corps; from what I understand anyone who reports from the White House can be or is automatically a member.  Sure there are some bigwig influences who lean on them but I don't think there's any overt power structure telling them what to do, at least not on the level of who can speak at their annual dinner and what they can say. 

Of course they wouldn't have Michael Moore be the headliner but that's what makes it interesting to me; I think this is a pretty hilarious case of TPTB and especially the current right-wing elite power structure failing to understand irony, sarcasm, and satire well enough to prevent the very public mocking that went on.  They have a vague idea that Colbert is a liberal pretending to be a conservative but most of them have probably never watched his show, and if they have they probably didn't "get" nearly as much of it as people who think for themselves on a regular basis.  So maybe they knew something was coming but had no idea it would be that bad.  The real question is, how is any of this going to have any impact on anything?  Keep watching...

Having never come across this guy before, I think it is ****ing superb...haven't laughed so much in ages, but it does seem to be a strange choice for a presidential dinner. Are there larger issues at work here?  Surely, but I doubt Colbert is a straightforward tool of the Illuminati or anything like that.  We seem to be entering a window of change where people are "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore" with the current administration.  It's been long enough since 9/11, they haven't managed to stage another attack (in the U.S. at least), and there have been f*ck-ups galore from the administration so maybe enough of the hoi polloi are realizing how much that guy and his handlers/cronies suck and should be removed from office.

Yes, if the reaction is steered the wrong way the solution could be worse than the problem, but I don't see why it has to be that way.  I personally think late 2000 was another such window and we ended up in this timeline for some reason.  Maybe there's a "Gore" timeline somewhere that seems better, but maybe people are that much more pacified and asleep over there.  Quite a few people seem to be "awake" now, or at least rubbing their eyes and reaching for the coffee.  If rapid change comes we should all be ready to get the real word out.  Isn't it possible we could get a lot more done with Nancy Pelosi as the next president of the United States next year ?
