whywhywhy wrote:

On a different note, I just realized I have just a few friends................I wonder why that is?

Regards,

Lee

Years ago, when I was just a little boy, my mom sat me on the bed and told me, "Rick, when you grow up, you won't have many friends. You'll have a lot of acquaintances, but you'll have only one, maybe two if you're really lucky, genuine friends."

You can imagine what was going through a little boy's head after hearing that! His mom telling him he won't have many friends!

Years later I understood what she was talking about. And she was right. It's amazing how many people say that they have many "friends", when in fact they're just acquaintances, or, worse yet, just using them. That concept intensified when people found out that I could work on computers . . . and more competently than the overpriced "professional" shops. E v e r y b o d y was my "friend" . . . until I started charging. Rats from a sinking ship they were...

I had an opportunity when I was in highschool to start studying graphology (handwriting analysis). I initially thought it was bunk, but soon delved into its intricacies as I realized its potential to not only learn about other people, but myself as well.

To this day I have a buddy who refuses to handwrite me notes (it's not as if I don't know him well enough already...). A long time friend of the family has me analyze her boyfriends' handwriting, and it's spot-on everytime. I got into a habit of analyzing coworkers' handwriting in order to improve relationships and communications. It even allowed me to get to know one of my true friends even better. And it's assisted me ever since a bad experience a few years back taught me that not only was I not a good judge of character (humbling experience), but there are people out there who are very deceitful and untrustworthy. I've since tried to develop my intuitive skills, as Lee mentioned.

H e y . . . what would be nice is if each person on the forum would be able to post in his/her own individual handwriting . . .

One time I was leaving a get together in SoCal and it was late and there
was a very heavy box in the trunk. It was my parent's car, and they put the box in
there. I made a u turn to get onto the freeway, and the box must have slipped and
caused me to veer further and faster than the turn I made. I crashed into the curb,
slamming quite hard into the steering wheel, and came to a stop by the side of the
road. I sat there in shock, not knowing what to do, in the middle of the night with a
damaged car and no one in sight, by the side of the freeway. Then I prayed for aid and assistance. I got out of the car
when I found myself crying, and stumbled forward towards the corner. I planned to
walk until I found a phone. Instead, a family of Armenian people who radiated kindness were sitting there in their car. The driver got out. He said he'd seen the whole thing and would drive me home. I said it was far, and he said that was okay.
I just knew they were very good people. I cried in gratitude, because I knew if they
hadn't shown, I'd possibly have been in great danger. It was a totally unfamiliar area, and I couldn't have remembered how to get back to the location of the get together. It was a rare one time visit to family I didn't know too well, and it really
hadn't gone that great, for reasons I'll not get into here.

So they drove me home. I did feel like they were
angels. They showed up at just the right moment. It was amazing. I knew immediately that they were okay, too. They treated me more like family than
anyone I'd seen earlier! Sometimes I wonder if they were really a family of people as they appeared. I suspect not. They seemed to have materialized out of nowhere, almost.

So if it's not reading people, it's reading what appears to be people. But I couldn't really say what my method was...it was simply a knowing.

Reading people is probably often times a psychic-based skill. I remembered a couple of more incidents dating back over the years that possibly illustrate this:

- I was 16, and we had just moved to SoCal. I was with my Mom and Grandma and brother, at a bus stop at the Westminster Mall. Right before we boarded the bus, some guy struck up a conversation with my mom - I can't remember at this point what he was saying, but I do remember knowing VERY clearly that she was being conned. (I think he was looking for money.) He was a scammer, talking too fast, trying way to hard to seem sincere and likable. I was frowning and tried to warn her, but as always, she wasn't listening to me or paying me any mind. After we got on the bus it finally dawned on her. "I think he was a con artist...." DUH. Ya think? I couldn't believe it, that here I am, this 16 year old kid who'd grown up in small town/rural areas, and I could read this guy straight off the bat....and she couldn't, a grown adult who should know better, and who was born and raised in New York City to boot. Weird.

- In 8th grade, when I was 14, I was on the school bus in the afternoon, going home. I was up on my knees, facing backwards, looking around at the total mayhem that is a junior high bus, and my eyes fell on my friend Louise...who was just sitting there, books in her lap, staring at the seat in front of her, in her own world, looking like she was trying very hard not to cry. Everybody around her was yelling and jumping around, total mayhem, and it was like she was unaware of any of it. I stared and stared at her, honing in, inadvertently making a connection I guess you could say, and it hit me. "She was molested" was what I heard in my mind. I just knew, I don't know how. But I immediately got upset with myself for thinking such a thought. How gross and horrible is that?! Why would I think such a thing??! I thought there must be something wrong with me for thinking that way.

The next day her and I were sitting at the same table in Study Hall, and she was again in a very depressed, distracted mood. Finally she passed me a note. I opened it to read her confession of sorts, telling me that she was really upset because her uncle is coming to town for a visit, and will be staying with her family. And the last time he visited, he molested her, but when she told her family, nobody would believe her, and nobody wanted to hear it. And he's coming back for another visit and she knew he was going to try to do something to her again, and she couldn't handle it.

So, that was a case of "reading people" but with a psychic twist. There was a million things that could make somebody want to cry - maybe her puppy died. Maybe her grandmother was dying in the hospital. Who knows. So to know what it was specifically was probably more psychic than anything else.

- My "reading a celebrity on TV" moment - in 1990 I was watching VH1, which at the time had Rosie O'Donnell as one of their veejays. I remember watching her do her schtick, and after a few minutes, I just knew, "She's a lesbian." I didn't think it in a derogatory way, it was just total matter of fact. So when there was this big hoopla about Rosie coming out in the late 90's, I was just like, "Hanh??" Like, how did people NOT know?? I mean, it's so obvious. I'd see her on her TV show and I knew the whole "I'm in love with Tom Cruise" thing was a funny gag. But the housewives of Middle America totally ate it up, and were all in a tizzy uproar when she came out. I just don't know how people didn't know.

On a funny sidenote, here's a hilarious quote from Rosie, about wanting to beat up crazy super model Naomi Campbell:

"I just picture this cute little Mexican woman working saying, Excuse me Miss Campbell can I possibly get you... ' and Naomi going, 'Get away from me, bam bam bam!' To make matters worse she had that jewel-encrusted cell phone. That's got to score with the diamonds. She looks like you could snap her in two but she's a tough-ass, kick-ass woman. I would actually like to fight her. I think for all the people that she's beaten up, I think she needs a big 200 pound lesbian to kick her ass."

That's awesome! Go Rosie! I love it. haha

- In 1995 when I was 20, I had driven up to L.A. by myself at night, and was trying to get back home. Long story short, I wound up on the wrong freeway, (if you've ever driven around on the L.A. freeway system....then you know how it is!!!!!!!!!!!) and then found myself on the surface streets of some part of L.A.......and could not for the life of me find the 101 south onramp. I drove up and down and all around trying to find the damn thing, but it was like, invisible or something. The first gas station I pulled into was manned by middle eastern people who didn't speak enough English to help me, and didn't care anyway to even try. Total blase, uninterested. Frustrated and anxious, I pulled into the next gas station I could find....barrelled in, is more like it, because I was annoyed and anxious. In my headlights I saw a homeless black man staring back at me, surprised at how fast I tore into the lot. I parked my car, jumped out, and marched towards the gas station. He was in front of me, and cautiously approached me saying, "Excuse me miss....are you lost?"

I stopped in my tracks. It was like running into a wall of goodness. That's the only way to put it. This guy emanated positive vibes like I'd never felt, like rays were beaming off of him or something. Appearances can be deceiving, because on the surface he was a scraggly looking homeless black man. I didn't see that though...I went solely by what I was feeling radiating off of him. And it was like I melted, just totally relaxed, and calmed the f*** down! "Yeah," I told him. "I can't find the 101 south onramp!"

"Oh, well that's easy, let me tell you what you need to do..." And he proceeded to point me where to go and how to get to the onramp. Turns out there were no signs for it...and you had to take this tiny little side road (alley is more like it) to get to it. So no wonder I couldn't find it!! I would have been there all night trying to find it.

He then asked me if he could squeegee my windows for some spare change, which was fine with me. I sat in my front seat with the door open, chatting to him as he squeegeed, and then he decided to broach the subject of what he thought might be my naive vulnerability. Kind of frowning, and seeming concerned, he said that I should be careful, and not just talk to or trust people. He said that he was okay But not everybody is. In fact, last week they found the body of a girl chopped up in a dumpster over on 4th street. So be careful, you know??? !

I smiled because I understood his concern, and explained that I know, trust me...but, I felt his vibe and I could tell he was good. He smiled and told me at that point that his friends all call him "Magic." Because he has a magical vibe.

He sure did!

I gave him $10, thanked him, and was on my way. His directions were perfect too.

manyeagles: yeah, learning how to read people (a learning process that involves an awakening) can be painful.

For me it was very painful to begin noticing people's fakeness because it is so rampant and authenticity is so rare.

This could be yet another interesting side topic: how to read people without becoming depressed and cynical. But, I guess, we've covered how to avoid depression in the midst of all the craziness pretty extensively.

What really helps me is in remembering that I don't have to match to people. If you've ever worked a customer service job then you know what I'm talking about on matching. People oftentimes expect you to match their vibration. If they're stressed and rushed, they expect you serve them in a frenetic hurry; if their great aunt died, they expect you to be somber. It's weird.

But the issue of matching does relate to reading people. To wit, it's very hard to read people when you're matched to them. Or maybe it's more accurate to say it's harder to objectively read people when you're matched to them. If you're sharing in a person's depression, it's difficult to make observations about the depression. It's like trying to describe a river when the river is rushing up over your head and carrying you away.

Dreamosis,

Very interesting thread, with a lot of insight from many on the forum

I pondered and wondered if "reading" is pretty the much the same as "seeing", but maybe it really doesn't matter. Guess it is, just what IT IS...

Wanted to relay an experience from some one I know very well related to this topic. She decided to attend a powwow on a whim and wanted to tell me what were the most significant experiences felt.

One of the activities involved the "blanket dance", it consisted of being allowed to enter the circle etc. This blanket dance was in honor to the vetrans in general-one of the elders (native) was involved in WW2 and was instrumental in the code stuff- way helpful stuff...... He seemed to have a pretty commanding sense of presence (in a non-negative feeling sort of way).

Now mind you, this is one of the only times that a non-native person is allowed to participate is such. Being pretty much reserved and shy she just up and goes for it!!!!!!! WOW I think

Anyways, she EXPERIENCES- either clasping hands, or touching the hands of many of the Elders. One of the Elders has the Eyes Who See, and she bravely takes a direct look into his eyes (which is OK during this ceremony) and not only reads, but sees what he is feeling, thinking, but in the past, present, and the future. From what she tried to explain, it was as if she saw all of this in a flash-past, present, and maybe future. She felt the sadness in his soul for not only his people, but all people on the land as well. His grief/worry/concern for all on the land was equal-But most for all of us not SEEING as a whole. The burden upon his heart weighed heavily, and he seemed to have the whole world upon his shoulders, maybe being one of the few who truly knew the gravity of THE situation at hand. It was as if the true condition at hand hit her hard and fast, for seeing can be a pretty challanging thing to take at times.

She conveyed the impact this experience had upon her usual day to day experiences, and it left a mark. It was as if her perceptions with reality had shifted which lent her greater insight.
