I have another book by Richard Bach that apparently goes along with Seagull called "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah".  It's pretty good.

Years ago when my kids were little their Kokum gift us a copy of Mary Summer Rain's "Mountains, Meadows & Moonbeams".  I used to read it to them occasionally at bedtime but I don't remember much about it now.  I do recall that I wasn't overly comfortable with some of it at the time.

I also remember reading a fiction novel back when I was a kid called "Stranger with My Face" by Lois Duncan.  Again, it's been a long while since I read it but it did leave it's mark on my mind.  It has to do with astral projection in a dark, twisted kind of way.

I think "The Tao of Pooh & The Te of Piglet" by Benjamin Hoff is a great book for Young Readers or any age come to that.

Right on! I thought these books were great....even though I read them in my late teens and early twenties. I would also recommend those.
The interesting thing about "young reader's" books in my experience, with respect to the ones I personally read when I was a wee lad, was that I didn't fully grasp any spiritual context within them until I was older and had a bit more discernment and could gleen meaning from them. Because in many, that kind of thing is there underneath it all. You know...like seeing a bigger picture in what was considered mainstream. Like Brothers Grimm's fairy tales or Dr. Seuss. I'll even stretch a bit and say my Boy Scout manual. (Laugh and I'll tie your arms in a square knot!;) ) None of that stuff meant anything to anyone when I was being raised expcept for what was on the surface. So, no "guidance" there. Just kinda put it all together on my own later. However, considering my background, the most exposure I had to anything to could be label as "spiritual" was the Bible.
But, mostly I drew and painted when I was younger. That was about the only real direction I had to go in.
To add, what I would have liked to have read when I was younger would have been books on lucid dreaming, astral travel, and creative visualization. I think that would be great tools and even fun for younger folks. Excercise that fluidity a bit, if it's not all been programmed out.
Also, there is a local author in my area, Harriet Hamilton, who writes children's books. She's spiritually centered in her writing. I'll see what more I can find out about her.

Well I didn't recommend anything specifically, apart from The Alchemist which is the only book I've actually read (from the links I gave). The rest we're just links I found while Googling that may or may not be of help.

I believe that Steiner is generally considered by most here to a very positive teacher and as far as I'm aware Steiner Schools are highly regarded as places where kids will actually get a worthwhile education as opposed to the complete drivel they learn in state schools.

This is an interesting link on Rudolph Steiner. I wonder what kind of subtle influences might be hidden in his books....I started to 'wake up' about these things years ago when someone enlightened me about Disney!...who was an Illuminati member.

Another good set of books with a metaphysical slant are the Sara books written by Esther Hicks (who channels Abraham) Very self-empowering and emphasizes the beauty and joy in life.

I think Jonathan Livingston Seagull is a GREAT choice for children.
