I think it is relevent.  In fact, I even mention the 1984 "V" miniseries in my "V For Vendetta" write up on my website.  So sinaptix isn't the only one making this connection.   Both utilize the red spray painted "V";  Both have a Nazi-esque fascist group decked out in red and black who have taken over a society;  Both have small resistence fighter groups that against all odds, manage to overthrow the bad guys. 

So, I disagree, I think it is relevent in that it's the same repeating theme played out in a different way.  No harm in mentioning it.  But that's just me.

Incidentally, just so you know, it started with V: The Original Miniseries, which was good.   Then came V: The TV Series, which I never saw but heard was pretty lousy and had no budget.   Then they finished it off with another miniseries called V: The Final Battle.    That was good too, and finished what the Original Miniseries started.   So the middle part, the TV series, is probably pretty skip-able.

Yes, it's true.   Lying and cheating is effective, but kind of small potatoes.  The real shortcut to success is to just get it over with and cut the throats of anyone who even LOOKS like they might threaten your pathway to power.    I mean, if you're going to play dark-sider, why muck around with all that lesser stuff?   Hehe. 

Reminds me of that scene in the movie Casino, which took place right after the government raided the mafia casinos.   All the  old mafia heads are sitting around the table, talking about which lower-ranking mobsters might know too much, and figuring out who they are going to have to kill to protect themselves from prosecution.  They finally get to discussing one guy, who everyone agrees is loyal and will definitely will not rat them out:

Heeey, why take a chance, ya know? 

So, yeah ... lying, cheating and killing is one way to get to "the top."   The question is, the top of WHAT?  And are you sure you really WANT to be there?

But it's fresh in my head and both relate at least that there is the imposition of a fascist militant controlling force with a strong media/propaganda arm and a small resistance force that sees through the BS and is struggling to reveal the truth and resist oppression. I'm feeling really frustrated, disgusted, and irrelevant today but I'll cut my rant short. Basically everyone keeps telling me you have to lie and exaggerate in order to be successful and they know because that's what they did and all the successful people they know did.

Okay, maybe I'm nitpicking, but I think any dictionary that equates an anarchist with nihilism was written by a plug-in.

I would say Evie and V were anarchists--not because they "believed in nothing" or wanted chaos, but because they believed people do not need to be and shouldn't be micro-controlled.   

Anarchy supposes that human beings are wise enough to live their lives without being ruled from above by an authority figure.  (An=without; archy=rule).

Many people read into anarchy the absence of a moral code, but it is only an interpretation (an overextension of the root of "rule.")  Anarchy could also be interpreted as just being without central, vertically-deferred-to authority figures who are set up as lords over others.

After reading this thread, and contemplating V's symbols (especially the roses), I heard a blurb on the news about Jill Carroll.  Jill Carroll is an American journalist who was kidnapped by insurgents and held for weeks.  She's now been released--despite the many threats to kill her.

Anyway, the newscaster said (paraphrased): "...Ms. Carroll was touched to find a single rose on her dinner plate on the plane ride home."

I heard this right after I'd been contemplating roses and whatever their meaning could be in mind control.

V takes Evie out onto the roof after her prison ordeal.  She is washed by the rain.  It looked like a baptism to me.  And, the scene was intercut with scenes of V walking through the flames at Larkhill.  Baptism by water/baptism by fire. 

In esoteric Christianity, the baptism by water is the first baptism (symbolizing one's departure from the world of "A" influences); baptism by fire is the second baptism(symbolizing an alchemical fusion that marks the end of ego's reign, the end of studenthood and the beginning of Mastery).

Bravo people, way to go... that's how you get sucked into supporting the dark side!  Pay to watch a piece of occultic trash.  Hmmm doesn't sound too positive to me!

Yes i would gladly send my money to the "dark side" if it inspired them to do good, by making another great movie like this one to inspire more people. Thats what this movie did for me it left me feeling good and feeling inspired. 

I dont know why you think the "Dark side" was responsible for making this movie though? what was so bad about this movie? i found it to be a anti "dark side" anti- fascist movie
