I read a story, sometime last year, about a hospice that was home to two cats. Although both were gentle and loving, the one cat always 'knew' when it was time for a person to transition...and would lay beside the person until he or she passed on. I was not only touched by the story and in awe of that little cat (The P's call cats our monitors --used by ET families...keeping track of how we are doing on an immediate physical level.) But it felt so good to know these cats were so welcomed and respected and ALLOWED to participate in these rites of passage.
Cat people will understand this: Isn't it funny how your cat is 'there for you' when you are REALLY not feeling well ... and just gives you one of the 'level looks' and will ignore you when you are just kinda on your pity pot. LOL.
Betty

Anyone who is a friend of cats is a friend of mine. I currently have 8 permanent residents (soon to be 9, all girls, all fixed) and three wandering toms that stop by to eat their fill when they see fit. These people keep me sane, I consider them to be my children and they all are unbelieveably smart. I believe it's because I treat them as "people".

They are all 11 pounds or better and trust me, when I wake up in the morning with 7 or 8 large kitties laying on the blanket it's a real chore to drag myself out of the bed.

I had a unique experience with my cat today.

She was sleeping on my leg while I was reclined on the couch. She's been putting on a little weight lately (jeez, I hope she doesn't see this...!) so her presence was quite noticeable.

All of a sudden her weight was considerably decreased. I thought this was weird, until I remembered reading about some people who, when they go out of their body, weigh a lot less. It then occurred to me that she must be dreaming. Sure enough, a few seconds later she started twitching.

What was even weirder is that I could see this "entity" hovering above her, but much bigger than her body. I knew it was essentially her, maybe dreaming that she was a bigger kitty or something (an ethereal mountain lion...?). It looked at me, but didn't do anything (she must be a nonlucid dreaming kitty...).

It seemed like her body didn't really regain much of its corporeal weight back, but she didn't appear to want to fully wake up, either. Must have been too comfortable. I can relate...

Really cool experience!

Lemniscate

If I'm at a friend's house sitting on a bar stool, their pets will end up underneath it.

Awesome info, Lemniscate. I'm a cat freak and I've always felt that cat's have very potent healing powers. I know that when I hear my baby purr, it fills me with a sense of being content and spiritually at peace. One of the best feelings in the world is when he snuggles underneath the blanket with me and purrs and purrs. In fact, as I write this, he is sitting beside me, purring. He's an extremely lovey cat.

I love all animals but I really do think there's something special about cats. It's like they are privy to unique psychic and healing abilities we have no real insight in to. The Egyptians felt that cats have special powers. I think they were really on to something. Has anyone noticed that some cats especially like cuddling with you when you're sick? I think they can sense this and as natural healers, try to make you feel better. It works big time for me. The closest I come to bliss on a regular basis is when my love gets underneath the blanket with me in the early morning, lies down against my side and places his head on my shoulder while purring madly. It's like concentrated bliss. I've known and loved many cats throughout my life but I have a special bond with my baby. He misses me when I'm gone and loves being with me. It's fully mutual.

Thook: You're one of the coolest people ever for running an animal sanctuary!

Lemniscate wrote:

I think everybody who maintains an animal sanctuary hold a special place in the Creator's heart.

Lemniscate

Amen to that!!

Many times I have layed with cats to be with them as they pass over, or just to hang out and exchange healing vibes. Cats (other animals too) possess a character that alot of humans are simply not in touch with. A cat's purr can resonate through your heart to make it sing a soft and sweet gentle song. I get so relaxed and feel so natural during a vibe session, empathy and telepathy become very real and very obvious. Cats are such capable soulmates and lovers. Love is where they live.
Thanks for posting the link. I'm sure the cats thank you too.
