Another very interesting suggestion for deodorant is Colloidal Silver. Just recently a friend said she uses this after having tried the natural crystal and not liking it too much. She did said the C-Silver works 10 times better.

I'm still on the crystal now myself and haven't tried the C-Silver yet, but plan to. Seems like the uses for C-Silver never end... this is such great stuff.

Here's a great link for a really nice C-Silver generator:

http://educate-yourself.org/cs/csgendesc.shtml

J.P.

It is much less drying than rubbing alchohol. I only use it once a day, when needed, in the winter and more often in hot weather. It's good to carry oround a small bottle anyway as it's good for cuts and stops bleeding. Gold bond powder also works well and by the way, Gold bond lotion makes a very good insect repellant( it's the menthol).

Awesome! Much obliged to you both.

Being the girly girl that I am, I like my underarms to smell not just clean but nice. I read somewhere that lavender has odor neutralizing capabilities. Anyone heard of this? I wonder if it would work to mix the powdered form of, say, lavender to the Gold Bond? I'm not that big a fan of lavender but I don't know of any other plant that is able to neutralize odor. I suppose that if the Gold Bond acts to destroy odor though that one could mix it with any pleasant smelling powdered plant. I've never seen lavender etc. in a powdered form but surely it exists.

Lookee what I found:

Lavender Body Powder

Combine together in a bowl:
1 cup of finely ground dried lavender buds
(or lavender buds powdered)
1 cup of bentonite clay
1 1/2 cup of cornstarch
Lavender essential oil
Whisk the clay and the cornstarch together, add your powdered lavender buds, and then 3-5 drops of essential oil. Allow to sit covered in the bowl and then transfer to shaker jar. Enjoy your all-natural body powder.

I found it online so don't know how well it works. What in the world is bentonite clay?

Here's a super neat-o link for some cool looking home made deodorants.

http://allnaturalbeauty.us/herbal_powde … orants.htm

Rubbing Alcohol or Witch Hazel will kill lots of the odor-causing bacteria on contact. It works, but you might have to apply it 2-3 times a day. This is because the alcohol evaporates quickly, so it wont keep killing, just on contact. Still, its enough for most people if you dont mind freshening up with a couple cotton balls.

I think montalk's GoldBond solution might be better since it won't evaporate and therefore can keep killing the bacteria for longer times.

Oh, well after showering I sprinkle the powder on the palm of my hands and rub it in. May not be ideal if you wear tank tops, but applied from beneath a T-shirt it works great. Witch hazel would be a less conspicuous solution. All I know is that the powder functions as well as any store-bought deodorant and has nothing suspicious in it. Even corn-starch (75%) + baking soda (25%) works, but I found that Gold Bond's Medicated powder is a readily available form of dry zinc oxide, an antibacterial. The baby powder formula doesn't have the eucalyptus/menthol scent of the regular stuff. As a kid I would spend months at a time in Singapore, which was so humid that putting on body powder was the only way to keep dry after a shower...which is where I got the idea.

I won't use that deodorant rock stuff, by the way. Thanks!
