Once, a couple of years ago as an experiment, I approached a lady on the street and offered her $20.  She wasn't homeless, but a regular blue-collar worker on her way somewhere.  It took me about two minutes to convince her to take it.  She was both defensive and suspicious: "Why would you do that?...Is it stolen?...Why give it to me?...Is there a catch?...What do you want?"  Finally she took it and thanked me.  I shrugged.  I wasn't doing it, particularly, to be nice--I just wondered how hard it would be to give away money in a situation where it wasn't being asked for.

Maybe I'll try convincing somebody to do good...Another experiment..."Hey, would you mind helping that old lady across the street?"--"Who?  Me?"--"Yeah, you.  How about it?"

Not exactly the reaction I would imagine someone would have after realising what their personality is like.  Yes they can blame Darren, but ultimatly they had to have been highly suggestable to have gone through with it.  Had it been me, at the very least I would hope that I would question my being as to why I did it...rather than thinking about how good I feel about the whole "positive" experience...

I agree with the implications being scary, while I was watching I felt quite disturbed and saw the emotions that the people were going through, especially with that experiement with shocking. 

If that can happen in that scenario, what does television and other influences in our everyday lives do?

I strongly recommend everyone watch this show. What Derren can do is absolutely incredible but the implications are quite scary really. If he can achieve all this by simply using highly subtle suggestions and triggers it makes you wonder what TPTB are capable of with all their technology etc.

The scariest part is that out 13 delegates he chooses 4 (30% of the subjects) and out of those four he is able to influence 3 of them (75% of the selected) into robbing an armored car.   Sometimes I wonder about those teenagers in the US that wake up one morning grab a few guns and shoot several kids in school.  The same applies to postal workers.  Are these people being targeted by a certain group?  One must conclude that the answer is yes because it does not seem random.    Teenagers and postal workers.......Why not miners, engineers, accountants, etc... ?  I think the manipulators want us to know they can do it by influencing specific groups in our society.
