Best Wishes to you all for 2006!

Firstly, I thanked CortexVortex for creating this thread as it seemed to act as a catalyst.  I had been thinking that I wanted as a New Years Resolution to find someplace I could volunteer.

But after reading the posts I was inspired to do something more.  Lately I've been pondering "my life" a great deal and wanting to serve others but was stymied as to how.  The various volunteering opportunities didn't really move me --

All at once, it seemed, I just KNEW.  I decided to start my own non-profit with the primary mission to help kids at risk -- especially substance abuse.  The existing programs that I am aware of are either too victim oriented or substitute one illegal drug for another drug -- psych drugs. 

Interesting how things work -- I have a fairly extensive background in fund raising -- I don't require a salary so won't need to get heavy funding to start this -- am close friends with a couple of Drs. in the area -- and so on. 

So, again thank CV for the nudge and as I said in my first post (deleted) thanks to Tom for continuing the sanity and vision of NR.

But -- as a quick recap -- yes, your post definitely was a catalyst for me and since posting it I've actually spent several hours researching the legal stuff about setting up a non-profit.  Pretty easy stuff actually.

I'm quite excited about this in fact -- the idea of working FOR something I believe in every day is selfishly exhilarating -- not to mention helping others as I go -- wow.

Jen, 5D sounds lofty! But I certainly won't discourage anyone from aiming high..... dat be the whole point!

I thought (selfishly) a thread like this would serve to also empower myself a bit more and provide inspiration.

It was actually a form of your number three, that enabled me to be open to greater metaphysical transformations. By figuring out my false beliefs and understandings about money lead me to question other beliefs I had and search those out.

Money IS a game, ALL participate, some by rules they create a game plan so to speak. Others play without knowing, with no game plan and no understanding of rules of any kind.

You can believe fiat money is worthless and valueless all you want, but the majority give it value so it has "value". So some of the game is to figure out rules to play by and how to change fiat money that is valueless and decaying so to speak into something of value.

As for gift-giving...I give when and if I want to, at Christmas and at other times of the year.  But I can see the sense in making a formal decision about this, when you've been caught in obligatory gift-giving for a lot of people.

So you are going back to pen and paper, dreamosis? For most of my life I wrote most everything that way (came to the puter late), and I agree with you there's something that flows in a more organic manner.
As I've gotten more comfotable with the computer, I'm composing more on it, but I still enjoy taking my notes and spending an afternoon
wriing the old-fashioned way, once in a while.  I do write poetry mostly in longhand.

The biggest hangup on that one for me, is how to make people understand
WHY I don't wish to give without just coming off as stingy, a "scrooge".

I think I maybe understand your point #3.....about the money. I may need to read that one a few times.

The revolutions I aim on makin':

(1) This relates to X-Mas.  Next X-Mas my wife and I decided we aren't giving gifts. 

We told most our family and friends this year.  If others want to give to us, that's their perogative, but we thought that rather than give a number of some obligated, some non-obligated gifts, we'd instead give one big gift to one person who really needs it.  We spent about $800 this year, and we figure we could much better help one person (who needs it) with that money rather than spending it on small, maybe forgettable gifts.

Plus, we feel that practice to be more in line with the "spirit of giving."

(2) As a playwight I want to revolutionize my writing process by ditching my computer and writing first and middle drafts in a notebook.  I've done this once before and I freakin' loved it!  Writing on a computer I practically have to sit in one, cramped position for hours on end; writing in a notebook I can write on the bus, the train, in a lazy boy, while waiting in line and on breaks at my day-job.

Plus, I noticed I could visualize better when it was me and a pen.  And, I wrote more quickly, more cleanly--because mistakes are costly on paper--and the dialogue, I think, was "more real."

(3) I want to learn to love money.  It would be a revolution with me because, having gotten an liberal arts degree in theatre, I was programmed to associate financial success with moral bankruptcy.  I would not argue that money is value-neutral, but, as a being, I want to learn to play the game without feelings of deadness.  The great trick.  If a part of me dies, a part of me dies--I'm willing to risk it because I'm sick of masquerading as the Pharisaically pure fauxhemian.

The title of the thread is New year's reVolutions, not reSolutions.

I was not merely attempting to be clever with the wording, there is a substantial difference in those two words.

To me a resolution is somewhat superficial, whereas a revolution signifies a drastic change.

Also the completion or beginning of a cycle.

I don't mean to infer that resolutions are unimportant.

Just that the two represent different levels of change.

I've tried resolutions. For me they do not work.

I am talking about the kind of alterations we might wish for ourselves at a core level.
Not the type we'd be willing to discuss
with co-workers, by the water cooler.

I wanted to make the distinction here, only because I wanted to hear something deeper than "I'm quitting smoking."  I do not mean to invalidate the above posts either, please do not take that as arrogance ;-)

I'm pretty happy with how things are going for me, but am resolving to give up coffee and eat a purer diet in general, with occasional raw food/fast days.  From a vanity standpoint, then I'll be as thin as I want to be.  From a a soui level, it's good discipline, and the live food
will help raise my vibrations, I'm sure.

Raise my vibrations, to gain more knowledge, wisdom and the ever evolving ability to create and co-create reality.

I would like to offer this thread, and hope you all contribute, to voice your desires and intentions for the coming year.

I can say, with all honesty, the day I stumbled upon montalk.net was the beginning of a quiet revolution for me.

I can't remember when, exactly. Maybe 2 years or more ago, and I was aware of montalk from Educate-Yourself.org. I had gotten alot out of that site, as well as many other sites, for my 'primer' info.

I am still absolutely amazed that so many of you were also going through
the same paces (at the same time).

That fact alone tells me that it was clearly not coincidental, and that we are all part of the Stream.

I have a vague idea where I'd like to go, in 2006, but I think many of you can state it in much clearer language.

Tom, my personal appreciation for providing such a vital tool in finding who we truly are.

I believe there to be no higher aspiration.
