If the original taught you what you needed to know then why a 2nd edition?

..........the Quantum Edition has two versions: a Director's Cut of the original, and a Quantum Version, five hours on two discs, with a quantum uncertainty ability that will reshuffle the scenes according to the laws of quantum physics, so that what you see may be fifteen minutes long or all five hours long. I like the idea that the higher self might be able to have a hand in the reshuffling, and hand over a new meaning to scenes based on context.
.....that, and I never buy the first version of any DVD. I hate finding a better version a year later, and the first version less than half of the original price. Anyway...

I'm a bit confused as to a whether it's an entirely new movie or not. The page above describes it as a directors cut, which implies an entended edition of the old movie, but also says there's an hour and 45 minutes of new footage. Well if it's the old movie with an hour and 45 minutes of added footage then it must be over 3 hours long!
