Sounds as if you're on the right track. I am 62 and have learned to "flow" money as needed, not more than needed cause that gets to be a pain...have even manifested a few money "miracles" (which are not, just The Law in action).

There are a lot of AWFUL books on this topic out there. I read voraciously. Here are the most excellent(in my humble but well-read opinion) books for learning about money and how it really flows:

The Trick to Money Is Having Some....Stuart Wilde
The Little Money Bible .... " "
The Perfect Life ....Marc Allen
anything else by .... " "
The Energy of Money .... Maria Nemeth
Prospering Woman ....Ruth omigoshican'tremember herlast name

Be well, and remember, there's always enough. If you have never had a day when you were hungry or homeless, why would that trend not continue? Don't look forward and worry, look back and say "I've always been taken care of, guess I always will be. NOW, what else would be good after simple survival???"

Life can only be understood backwards, but unfortunately it must be lived forward.

I have to agree Tenet. Money used to be central in my mind...having enough, making more, being without it. Once I shifted my thinking to believing I would always have whatever I needed, that money was not the answer to my problems, money became more abundant in my life. I would visualize myself with a fat wallet, comfortable bank balance, finding money in my purse, job offers. I would live my life as if I had money for the things I needed, not spending frivolously...somehow, I always met my needs/obligations.

I follow the belief that what you think about expands...so if you believe you are broke and poor, you will be. If you believe you have money and abundance, you will have more than you need.

Great post.

Hey Tenet,

I saw your comments in the Gen. section so sought out some of the threads you mentioned.

I tell most people that I meet, that money is NOT what they think it is.

In the last year I have been challenged by my own finite thoughts about money. I have also looked towards trying to not take money personally too. That is neither loving it nor hating it but just trying to put it to use either for me or someone else in a positive way.

I have started a business in my spare time, to take advantage of business deductions and transferring my costs to the business where applicable and read on stocks, commodities(your forte it looks like) and Real Estate. I have dabbled in R/E and am looking to getting more involved in R/E this year.

Much Success in your walk.

Just over a year ago I decided that the reason I never seemed to have any money was because there was something I didn't understand about how it works. Here are some ideas I have found extremely useful.

1. Thinking about money in terms of how much you want to have creates stagnation. Instead think about it in terms of how much is flowing through you. A corollary to this is to spend your money in a fashion where it can more easily come back to you, i.e. using services of friends and family. Supporting local business, etc.

2. Carry cash with you at all times. More than you need. Then when you reach into your pocket to pay for something your thought process is "I have money.", which results in having more money, instead of "I don't have any money.", which results in not having money. Of course, you need a little discipline to prevent against blowing your wad.

3. This one has been huge for me. Use 13 period accounting to keep track of your finances instead of the traditional 12 month method. I use the Dreamspell calendar for this http://mayan.tzo.com:888/dreamsp/download/download.htm. This gets your mind thinking in terms of equal segments of time, and also provides for one period each year where you don't have to pay a particular bill. Ex. I make 12 mortgage payments, but have 13 periods so every year there is one period that I don't have to make a payment. Bonus!
