Right.

Also, many skeptics would argue that psychic perception is not valid, as very seldom would one know the exact name or other information (although I have heard that some people can pick read literally : names, phone-number, "Time to call Harry Potter via landline" etc.) I don't. Again, I'm a subtle perciever.

Yet there's so much more to this. Think about a friend you've met in person, say, for coffee. What where the sounds? How did they seem? Tense, preoccupied, etc?
Were there bright colors? Subdued? How did you feel? How did you sense they felt?
Simply by remembering you are calling up past-time psychic impressions, even if all you get is a vague vibe or mood.

Now, read a book. Let's say you read Bronte. Well, you are "reading" or percieving the mind of another person, a person long buried, but whose thoughts remain in the general atmosphere of our time. Her mind is literally "like a book" to you.

Now transfer this process to the present. Trusting what you receive, you may be more on target than you know. And just as with Bronte or your friend, you need not know or remember every word or detail in order to percieve the mind and some of the qualities of this person and event. An artist or writer may have a "public name" or "pen name" just as discussion boards have user names. Nevertheless, when I look at VanGogh or Berte Morrisot I know their work, I can see the colors, sense the mood, note the brushwork speed and spontaneity, etc. just the same as if their real names were Pernacious Hornbeak or Lempita Lumpersand. How do you quantify a painting or a poem? That's the job of archivists, scientists, and very interesting in its own right, but as for this "instant perception" your better question in this case regarding psychic phenomena is " Why would you WANT to?"

Also hooks in to many other areas: the holographic universe, parallel universes, timeline shifts, and more.

Now all I can think of is that I'm supposed to go next regarding eye color. I gotta say something there or you'll think I'm playing peekaboo. I thought alot about what Montalk wrote about interstellar eye origins, and as I'm the "space cadet/earth to sedna" party guilty of the Independent Worlds thread, let me just say that my eyes are hazel. Sure, I'm psychic but compared to a pro psychic I'm an undergrad in that zone. On the other hand I'm probably much more psychic than the "average." But the most psychic person I knew had blue eyes. How did he handle the information, though? I don't know fully, but it could have had something to do with his suicide. Some people may need to be less psychic ; for them the trick is how much one is able to block out, rather than how much to let in.

I get all sorts of info and vibes and sensations/perceptions: I'm a subtle perciever.
But that doesn't mean I can make sense of it all, order it, or know what to do with it.
That's where other people come in: I need them to give their impression to make a balanced and fair assessement. Then if its their stuff, its theirs to do with what they will, and vice-versa. It's a do-it-yourself type kit. I love kits. I used to get science kits sent to me when I was a kid. My intuition combined with figuring out how to do expiriments=fun.

But one of the dark facets of all this( and I realize the people here are developed, so they know this, but it never hurts to re-remind myself) is that if you don't know where to put the brakes on, or turn off the filter, or however you may put it, you will get mentally and or physically ill. Big time.

I've seen it in many wonderful people. Just like over on the Missing Children thread : we can only handle so much. After alot of trials and errors, as well as successes, I've come to believe the best thing for others is to keep ourselves in a strong, balanced mind and chi state, head erect but relaxed. I read a blurb from the Gospel of Thomas, don't know if it's "for real," but it says Jesus said "Be one of those who pass by." Now, I have to really think about it to get anything out of it, or of most other wise things.

Whew. Well, getting back to why I posted here; just looking for more. I guess I feel in some way it relates to the Independent Worlds thing, in that I started that whole crazy thread on a kind of "psychic sensation" and a bit o' the ol' "hair standing on end" effect. So putting all of this together with further responses from others allows another petri-dish for my off-beat/on beat syncopation with all this eye and "offworld" stuff. Sometimes I think I'm already "offworld" anyhoo, so bear with me. Well, I see an enchanted flying taco in the distance.....

Well this Socratic statement means more than what I'm trying to point out.

In the specific time that Socrates taught, the Athenians had setup a culture that thought of themselves as "masters of the Universe". Knowing this, and knowing that. They were ignorant with fat-bellies. This is in context to what I'm trying to suggest. Socrates, with his views, showed the world how NOT flexible the Athenian culture was. The so-called enlightened philosophers. scientists and even the philanthrapists were distraught by Socrates' point-of-view. It was a dangerous way to think because in order to accept Socrates, they would have to consider re-thinking their societal foundations. To actually consider it is not "perfect", god forid. So Socrates was instead executed.

Now, with what Sedna is saying, it is to take the Socratic philosophy to a more Universal level. In this case, the statement means that ALL knowledge still acumulates to knowing nothing. That the intellectual-center has an infinitum of topics, subjects, thoughts and facts that still lead us to not being able to answer the question, "What is the meaning to life", and so on. In this fashion, I totally agree. It is this Socratic thought that separates Adamics from Organic Portals.

So when looking at it, you have two approaches. One that is directed in context with Socrates role in the Athenian culture, and the second being the Universal implications his thoughts apply to intellectual-accumulation ultimately equaling "0".

Hope that clears up the difference of what I meant.

---

Oh, and Rota, Nihilism means different things to different people. Before I found channeled sources giving actual truths, I considered myself a nihilist for a bit of time. Or at least it was the closest thing I could categorize my non-Atheist belief structure. I believed in "God" but not a monotheistic god (lower-case "g") as my family, friends, and the engulfing society did. Nihilism, from the articles I read of Paul-Bordeau with his "Le Refus Global" and his type, brought up the ideology to throw away any respect and adherence to the foundations of society at present. The guidelines, the laws, the rules, the status-quo, all of it being staged like a cheesy "C" rated flick. It all made logical sense, yet there were holes in every corner. The "What is the Matrix?" question lurking as a feeling in the gut. That is what I came to define Nihilism as. At least to me. Not believing in the rules of those who have no reason to gain your allegiance, faith, or trust.

My dad used to say " The only thing I know is that I don't know." It's a really good refreshing bop on the head and does not imply that there is no knowledge, only that knowledge in and of itself does not lead to higher wisdom, happiness, meaning, etc. One can know without knowing, not know and know it, know that one does not know....etc. Without the initial empty space of head-scratching moment, none of us, of all of this , would be here. We find out things as we go along. None of these things will ever bring us to a point where we surpass Socrates, who was willing to die for truth, in that the ultimate statement of wisdom was his action, his action stating that no man, including himself, can ever call himself truly learned in an infinite universe. It all fits, my man, it all works together....See?

Rotatora wrote:

One old greek philosopher used to have it as his motto. Plato I think.

It was Socrates. Plato was his pupil.

The quote has been changed over and over again.

But it goes:

"The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing"

or

"The only thing that I know for certain, is that I know nothing"

Or so it goes, with minor changes with the same message.

--

I think this quote is interesting for a skeptical/cynical approach to life when the society one lives in claims so many certainties, like monotheism, earth is flat, women are submissive to man. These types of false assumptions in which a society glorifies, makes it necessary for a man like Socrates to say a quote such as the above. This is to create a humble approach to the world, existence and knowledge, so that perhaps his society could look within to realize their foundations were corrupted.

H O W E V E R, I do not agree it has merit to seekers of truth. Knowledge is there. Truth is there. There is structure in the Universe and it is called Objectivity.
