Trans-Dimensional Armoured Road Monster?

There's a strobing red light here in town. Of course the rationale is that strobes help people notice the light is actually red, but you're right -- people just sit there waiting for the light to change, the radio is on, the strobe's got them in a nice trance, and their subconscious is wide open to anything and everything.  Strobes are also on top of schoolbuses now, and the police light strobes get more and more obnoxious with every new model. What's next, rotating red spirals for stop signs? haha.

Yes,  tv is a whole issue in itself.

Here we have lights at intersections that turn on when emergency vehicles are coming. These strobe as well when the system is activated to keep green the lights necessary for the emergency vehicle's passing.

A couple days ago I noticed at some road intersections here in the US, that there are now strobing lights on the traffic lights, which activate when the light is red. It's like a line of white light in the middle of the red circle that flashes a few times a second. What the hell is the point of this!? Is it just me or this this just a blatant attempt at further hypnosis of the masses? It's so utterly devious too. The light turns red. People sit watching the light for it to change to green, and their vision is attracted to this flashing strobe right in the center of the red light.

Yes!  I've seen this too.  They have one of those here in the city where we live, at an intersection next to the Best Buy, if I remember correctly.  Figures.   So it's not just you, we thought the exact same thing when we saw it.   In fact, as soon as I noticed it was strobing I refused to look at it.   Would only glance back here and there to see if the light had changed.   Their little tricks won't work on me, dammit.   

The other night I was outside, and out of the corner of my eye an area of the sky lit up.  It was very odd, and for a second I thought that perhaps it was just me and that I was seeing things.  But my wife also saw it.  My initial thought was that it was some form of large flash light in the sky (yeah I know nuts)...because it really didn't look like lightening.  But on second thoughts, I felt "yeah lightening, it must have been lightening".

However no storm came, and there were no futher flashes.

Not exactly strobe lighting but still strange.

Strobing in the traffic lights really is nuts though.  Does there seem any pattern to the light, of is it random?
