Grays, abductions, angels, Christ, whatever, in the end it's all a metaphor for personal development.  Enjoy the story, but learn to keep the fear, ignorance, and unconsciousness at a minimum.  That way, you'll feel the deep meaning in your life directly, and be able to step out when it gets to be too much, at least for a moment.

While I have been growing, there are certain areas where I linger until the information to learn is exhausted.  I think I just got to a point where I was tired of being in a certain mind-frame.  There comes a time, when you've already seen enough of the place you're at, that you're ready to move on.  That's where the ability to give that gray, or whatever it was, the what-for came from.  It had nothing to do with bravery, at least consciously.

I think once you start consciously dealing with issues in your life, and are honest with yourself, a lot of things start falling into place.  Sometimes it's hard to be aware of just what the problem is, since it's so subtle and is designed to stay hidden.  I am still of the opinion that life is about awakening, and that everything you experience is directly related to the spiritual.  What that means is that nothing is happening that won't make you a better being, but only if you face it in some manner.

I've always felt something was just beyond my reach, and have taken the long road of becoming awake.  (Well, it just seems long while it's happening.)  But I'm sure I have help from the good guys.  I'm slowly learning to not fear, because, and this is just a theory, all that you don't face in becoming enlightened is what they can use for their own ends.  So if you're called, and if you don't answer the call and tread the road to enlightenment, the bad guys can come and use that fear for their own agenda.  Reminds me of a Christian saying of sorts, that the closer you are to God, the more the devil wants you.

But, in the end, it's all to a better place.  These are just some of the things that come along.  I don't differentiate between the here and the there, the physical metaphors and the spiritual realities.  My opinion is that it all serves you in the end.  I know my own personal struggle now, and the reason that I could fight back, was to stop fighting my enlightenment, which was causing mild panic attacks, basically rushes of energy, and starting to intergrate them, to let the energy flow through me, and to see that my heart still needs to be widened.  I think a large part of it is that ego in me, at the base chakra or something, that is afraid.  I have to help it and let it become part of the whole.

You became aware during this particularly attempt, but that means they have probably been succesful in the past and more could come. If you can't catch them all, then you have to resort to post-abduction damage-control mode by watching for any changes in mood, energy, ideas, and reactivity.

From what I have found, a large component of the abduction phenomenon consists of mind programming and implantation for purpose of control. Some of the programming aims to turn a person away from his/her destined path, to instill doubt and undermine confidence. Some of it seeks to lead one astray by creating obsession/fascination with some idea or belief that is pure disinformation. Some of it installs self-destructive thoughtloops to amplify depressive tendencies. And some of the programming is to create posthypnotic commands that can be triggered later by someone else who also has been programmed, to create an escalating series of conflicts that can lead to disaster. There's much much more, all of which show what nasty and manipulative instruments these particular grays are. It's nice knowing they've got a finger in your brain pushing buttons at their leisure.   

Well, at least you had the strength to fight it off. During soul abductions most people remain unconscious... some people wake up become paralyzed with fear and give up, and a few welcome these critters as spacebrethren.

I read in the Ra material that tones in the left hear are of a negative nature, and tones in the right ear are indications that a positive energy is with you.

Just a thought regarding tones and the clues they can give us to the type of energies around us. Perhaps you had a support team there to alert you to the masked Grey projection that you sensed. Maybe that is what woke you up and helped you fight off the disguised grey critter you sensed.

I think abductions do occur in the etheric realm. As I understand it, these greys are projections/robots from 4th density, and masking is one of their tactics. So though you are in 3d, the experience of abduction occurs in the 4th density. Also bear in mind that parts or pockets of this earth are in 4th density already, and it is easy to walk between the two and not be fully aware of what is occuring.

Like Shawn mentioned, there can also be psychic "greeting" encounters of the STS kind from 5th density too, not just the 3rd and 4th. Inspired by the expereince of the Ra channellers, I prefer to  use the word greeting instead of attack, as I find that takes the judgement and thus the fear out of the equation. Of course you are at liberty to not greet back, but if you feel you are being attacked, the instinct is to fight like hell to repel, which energetically speaking, feeds the very forces you are seeking to remove from your sphere of influence.

Sometimes I write things as if it's not even me writing them.

I woke up paralyzed, again.

Before I had gone asleep, I heard, in my right ear, a high pitch tone and a low pitch tone, alternating.  Not regularly, but alternating none the less.  I also heard this morse-code of sorts, but it wasn't beeps like I'm used to hearing, but a guttural sort of morse-code.  I thought it was the electronics, since, sometimes, I can hear the frequencies of the television just whining away.

Well, I went to sleep, and woke up paralyzed.  I was still in dream-perception, though, I'm sure.  I decided to try out the theory of calling out to God to see if that worked, so I started saying the Lord's prayer.  The paralysis went away, and I thought, wow, it does work, but just as quickly it came rushing back on me.  So I tried crossing myself and telling whatever it was to be gone in Christ's name.  Well, that didn't work.

Then I saw a head above me.  I actually reached up and put my hands around it's throat.  The weird thing is that what I was choking felt different than the image I was seeing.  Before me appeared, what I thought, a normal person, but, my hands felt little shoulders and a skinny neck.  I thought I had to be choking one of those gray buggers for sure!

Fighting the paralysis, and with the episode of the throttling over, apparently, I struggled to sit up.  I could feel myself wanting to just go back to sleep and give up, and my muscles ached.  But I sat up anyway.  I got up from my bed, dragging myself to the restroom.  On the way, with each step, I said, "I...will...fight...until...the...end" in a sort of defiance, I suppose.

I got to the mirror, looked at myself, and BAM!, I woke up, wide awake.  So, I hadn't been awake.  Though it was over, I could still feel the right side of my body still a little paralyzed.

It could have all been a fantasy, but, if this were visitation, it leads me to the theory that the abductions or visitations happen in a spiritual realm or in a different density.  I had been wondering about that the past few days, and now I'm pretty certain that this is what happens.
