There was a show, within the last year or two, where this very issue came up. During "open lines," before the guest was on, if I recall correctly. Art Bell was the host that night. And people called in to discuss experiencing being invisible temporarily. Where they would sometimes talk and not be heard by more than one person in the family, people bumping into them because even if they were right in front of them they had gone unseen. One caller said that a family member had come into the lving room (I think it was) to look for them and had been calling for them and when they responded they were not heard or seen. Very strange indeed. I sense that among whatever else may be going on in such instances that it has to do with a temporary discrepency or difference in vibration or frequency between two perceived realites/dimensions.

As I write I wonder about a disturbing topic. Missing people. Is it possible that some individuals that go missing did not leave of their own consious freewill and/or were not taken by malicious intent but rather were absorbed/crossed over into another reality?:

The Bermuda Triangle?
Admiral Bird's experience of the Hollow Earth?
The true story the movie "Picnic At Hanging Rock" was based on?
The Navy experiments the film "The Final Countdown" was based on?

And on a lighter note I think of books and movies like:

A Wrinkle In Time (The whole trilogy, really, which includes: A Wind In The Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet)
The Chronicles of Narnia
Brigadoon
Alice In Wonderland
The Wizard Of Oz
The Missing Person's League ( a very unusual novel for young readers - I am now convinced that some writers know exacty what they are doing and they they are messengers for children so they [we] do not forget what we really are and where we really came from-even if we only recall in a conscious way that is figurative rather than literal).

And also the list below. Although the characters in these movies had split realities as opposed to actually disappearing from any of them:

But I get it.    We can make a claim, even if it's erronous, mistaken, or just plain confusing, then, when somebody asks for clarification or corrects it, we can accuse them of steering the conversation off point.

I have also experienced this.  It happens often enough for me to notice, but one time I reached out and unscrewed the top of a salt-shaker, as a joke, and my brother didn't even notice me, even though the table was tiny.  There was no way he should have missed me doing this.  I don't know why this happens, but I think Robert Anton Wilson had a good theory with what he said.

The answer is probably something along the lines of: Your head doesn't quite fit within the Matrix and that's why people whose fits a lot more get noticed and promoted by IT. Maybe the damn thing is trying to preserve itself from those whose head is not at the right angle, get it?

This is however the "martyr"'s view of the situation. This may sound like a criticism though it is not. Think about it! Maybe you could spin your Universe around and become a Neo, a Moses or just a plain "system buster" in one way or another, no?

It is also an issue of vibrational difference between yourself and "the rest of the world", not a bad thing!

  I'll post something on a forum or say something and it'll be ignored, then someone else will post it and receive many replies (eg Boriska Boy from Mars). It's usually only the minor irrelevant things.

???  Are you talking about posting Boriska Boy on this particular forum?  If you're referring to this forum, then please be aware that Cameron posted the Boriska Boy thing back in May.....at the start of the forum.  You didn't post it....again, as a duplicate...until over 6 months later.   So, not exactly sure how you were being ignored in lieu of somebody else getting all the attention and taking credit when you were just posting a duplicate thread 6 months after the fact.....unless you're not referring to an experience on this particular forum.....so maybe I'm missing something here......

I suspect other people have experienced this in one way or another - so I am interested in the causes for it.

Throughout most my life in any given situation I have generally gone unnoticed by people.  If I sit in a crowd, people won't really see me.  When I was at work in the office, anything I said was either not hear or put to the "bottom of the pile".  In discussions I am often over-talked, or not heard or just plain ignored.

I learnt different speaking methods and body language and that could sometimes get me more noticed.  But that's besides the point...

The samething often happens on the Internet; if I post in forums, the thread will go unread - yet someone else will post the same subject and the thread will fill up with hundreds of replies.  So I am guessing it is nothing physical in nature that causes this.

Then when and if attention does come to what I have said or done...the focus is usually very intense, more so than others would recieve.

To be clear though - I am not really bothered by this, and in most cases it's quite nice to be kinda invisible.  But - I wonder why this happens?  Any thoughts?

I know what you mean about being invisible....have known of incidents of this happening.  I know montalk had this one time when he went to Walgreen's, (a drugstore) when we lived in Florida, maybe he'll talk about his experience later.   It was really weird.   

I'm not sure what the explanation is for going chronically unnoticed and overlooked...then getting overzealous attention.   I have noticed the overzealous attention thing, and if anything, that's the problem I have.     I had such a problem with that in Florida, couldn't go anywhere without people staring, saying obscure weird things, or flat out harrassing me.  It was out of control there.   Here in VA things are mellow.   Maybe it's a regional thing?   I don't know.   I have so many stories / experiences / theories, I'm not sure where to begin.   But just wanted to say that I do know what you're talking about, and you're probably not imagining the phenomenon.   

Cipher's "goodbye" post made me ponder the idea of nice posters who post meaningful stuff but who just get....overlooked.   My initial thought was, Well, oftentimes I agree with what you said, and I just don't have anything to contribute.  But then I wondered, is that all there is to it?    What if there's something else going on that I'm not aware of?     I don't know, maybe some people just easily fade into the background, while others stick out?     At any rate, I try to make an effort to acknowledge good posts that seem to be overlooked or not getting the attention they should so that there aren't more people out there feeling ignored.... 

btw....I once was flipping through a book called "The Urban Witche's Handbook" and there's a spell techinique for making oneself invisible.    I wish I could do that....wouldn't mind fading into the background one bit!  I know that in other religions and spiritual practices they talk about this.  Nothing takes it to the level that Shamans do though.   They go above and beyond invisibilty and get into the realms of shapeshifting or flat out disappearing from reality.   Must be nice to be able to do that.   See the Don Juan books for more on this...
