Something like this happened to me just this morning. Woke up for work and had a (very) runny nose, like a cold coming on. I thought it was kind of odd, because I haven't been sick in years. Got to work and I kept thinking about it, and it just got worse. Eventually I got so busy that I just forgot about it. At the end of the work day I thought about it and realized the cold symptoms went away as soon as I forgot about it. So I think our thoughts definitely affect the onset of illness. People who think they're "supposed to" get sick, just because someone else is, usually do.

I am very familiar with THE LOOK.    I have always made it a rule not to contribute to medical research because IMO, they are severly misguided, and I don't want to be an enabler.   I guess  some would consider me a cold-hearted beaatch too.  Oh well.

Yeah..............that's along the lines of why I rejected the idea of working in the medical industry.  A psychic guy we knew (who also happened to work in a hospital) suggested that I look into nursing as a possible career.  I thought that was interesting, and asked him why he thought I should persue that.  "Because you'd be good at it," he smiled.   Maybe so, but I was immediately torn by the ethics of it all.  I can't willingly work for such a corrupt industry.  Shoddy health care, the misdiagnosis of patients, doctor negligence, the over medication of the population supporting the pharmaceutical corporations.......chemotherapy.........circumcision, unnecessary caesarian sections to generate extra $$$, the complete lack of belief / support of the idea of "mind over body" and how a positive attitude and diet change can turn a person around 180 degrees within a week....sometimes days.  And on and on and on.  I have so many stories from either my own personal experience or people I know who took health matters into their own hands, deliberately defying doctor's orders, deliberately ignoring the advise to "go home and die", and who turned themselves around.  I like the idea of learning medical skills, that appeals to me, and as a kid I was fascinated with surgery.   But now as an adult I know better about the medical establishment, and I just can't do it, for ethical reasons.  They don't know what they're doing half the time, pure and simple.  I'd say it's worse than witch doctory, but that would be an insult to witch doctors who often know what they're doing and save lives.

Doesn't mean I didn't get "LOOKS" though from people when I said no.   !   Oh, I did.   But I held my ground, I didn't cave into the sheeple pressure.    So many people work to promote our dysfunctional system, and I won't let their guilt trip manipulative looks cause me to cave in.   I admit that it can be hard standing ground against "THE LOOKS"

Skin cancer is another thing that has risen dramatically over the years, - especially since they started promoting sunscreen usage.  There was some research that came out that seemed to suggest that it is a chemical in the sunscreens that is to blame.  Combine that with the fear-inducing campaign to warn people about the dangers of the sun, and it makes you wonder how much of the increases are due to those factors alone, and not the ozone problem.

Mainstream society has become such a bad dream gone awry.  From modern "health" and medicine practices, to our money system, to our laws and police and government beaurocracy, to our petroleum run transportation system, just everything.  A total bad dream.   The way modern mainstream society goes about most everything is just so bassackwards and inane.   I'd be liable to say "Gee, it's like they're purposely TRYING to do everything the opposite of the way it should ideally be done!!!!"......except, well, that's exactly what's happening.

I have had the same looks of incredulation on the faces of those collecting, when i tell them the sickness industry make billions out of cancer and the suppressed alternative treatments and all that.

I don't bother anymore now, i just say No poiltely as i know i am wasting my breath. I know that these are well meaning people who are just a bit mislead  but  because its "cancer" and the old emotional blackmail thing it takes effort to say no.
I give to a local cancer charity that offers alternative information and councelling and complimentry therapies.
Shocking  the way they spend billions on finding chemical patent treatments while ignoring the causes and they just will not touch any research that links chemicals and diet with cancer and thus prevention.

That reminds me of a conversation I had with my office manager about five years ago.  She and some of the other staff were looking into purchasing "breast cancer insurance", and she asked me if I was interested.  I told her I was not, as I was not planning to have breast cancer.  She looked at me like I had two heads.  "What do you mean you're not planning on having it?!!!"   Women have been so inundated with fear-producing programming related to that in the last decade.

Wow, that's awesome!  Glad to hear you said that.  What an eye opener indeed for those who are programmed.    On a related note, I've found myself at a couple of companies now being hit up to the participate in the "Lee Jeans For Breast Cancer" gig that they host every October.   For those who haven't heard of this, Lee Jeans has this thing where they work in cahoots with companies to raise money for "Breast Cancer Research."   The company you work for will say Alright, on such-and-such Friday, if you contribute $5 to the Lee Jeans breast cancer fund raiser, you in turn get to wear jeans that day at work. 

There's the designated "money collector" in the office who gets the $5 from each participating employee, then mails the money off to Lee Jeans.   The employees in turn get to wear jeans that day, and they're given a nifty little pink ribbon to tack up on their cubicle wall to show everybody else in the office that they donated money.

Now, not to sound like a negative nelly, but this entire thing is so fricking ludicrous.   First off, cancer research of ANY kind is an industry.   50 "Lee Jeans for Breast Cancer" years from now they'll STILL be "Racing for the cure" and raising money from the naive population through various money making schemes.   Cancer research is a profitable industry that keeps way too many scientists and lab technicians employed, never mind the money that cancer in itself generates for the docs and pharmaceutical corporations and medical institutions with chemotherapy, meds, hopsital visits and stays.

So if I find myself being hit up for $5 for Lee Jeans, I always say no.  I'd rather give my $5 to a homeless person, (which I did in fact, and often!) then mail to Lee Jeans!!!!   At least I can see the homeless person running off to the McDonald's or Burger King across the street carrying that five to go buy himself some food, so I know it's being put to good useful purpose.

Interesting, made me wonder if your immune system has somehow been made stronger by being exposed to all the buggers? 

I've often thought that the "you gotta take this drug" mentality to "cure" this and that produces an atrophy of sorts in regards our ability to ward off sickness.

I agree with you 100%.  As a dentist I'm in close physical proximity with people all day, yet I haven't had a cold, etc. in several (10+) years. 

The mind truly is a wonderful, albeit mysterious, thing.

Dr Geerd Hamer has done much work in the effects of the shock-conflict causes of cancer, was having great success with his treatmnets and ended up in jail for his "heretics" viewpoint

Linguistic programming and the words used to describe illness and the Doctors beliefs communicated to our belief systems play an enormous role in the sickness industry.

"You are an Asthmatic"  "You only have 6 months to live" "You have aids"
"You need this drug to control your symptoms" etc etc.
Its all linguistic programming magnified a thousand fold by fear.
Many people have had cancer tumours for years but as soon as the Doctor tells them they "have cancer" it suddenly accelerates.

The more people buy into the illusion that is presented to us the sicker we become, the more they move away from the truth and light within and buy into external belief systems whether it be buy consuming chemicals because they just don't care enough to question anything or thinking themselves sick, its the mind that choices illusion over being.

The mental and emotional cause of sickness is why a consultation with a good alternative healer is healing in itself, many clients would end up in tears which was a great and meant the person was connecting to the source of the problem, we were trained to copy the persons body language to get in rapport with them and feel what they are feeling and guide them to those places they did not want to go. Its okay feel the feelings, forgive yourself, love yourself  and all others involved and then let it go and shine.
Of course some people have a vested interest in being ill so cannot be cured, they can control others by being sick or escape resposibilities and then get praised for their "brave fight against whatever"

Miasms are an interesting tool to help understand mankinds inherited tendancies to unbalanced thinking that manifests as pysical illnesses from thousands of years of collective thoughts and actions.
The traditional miasms are Psora, Syphilitic, Sycotic and Tubercular, though many argue we have new miasms now, chemical and cancer.
I treated a self hating young man many years ago for ulcers that would not heal who had a death wish by racing his bike like a lunatic, i gave him the remedy syphilinum which is a nosode made of the sexual disease syphilis as he had a clear syphilitic miasm, self hating, destructive, body eating itself via the ulcers etc and it worked well, he sold his bike and the ulcers were cured.
As i say though, look upon things like this as tools to help understand not as as the "truth"

That is one of my all-time favorite books.  I think everyone should, at the very least, read the chapter on health.  I have recommended it to many people over the years.

My favorite stories were the one about the tumor that melted away like a snowball and the stuff about people with multiple personalities where one would have allergies or diabetes etc, and another personality would not.  So interesting.

I have had many patients over the years who would say that they would like to "cut off" whatever body part was hurting.  I would always say, "No!!! Don't say that.  You have to send it love instead." 

Lyra:  I came across the idea of visualization and directing energies to body areas as a teenager, I took a Silva Mind Control class which was one of my first introductions to a lot of this stuff.   It focused on doing all this stuff while in a meditative state for maximum effect.  In other words, "go to your level," meaning meditate and bring yourself down to an alpha/REM-equivalent brainwave state or deeper, then practice different mental tasks.  I didn't follow it very seriously but several times I tried various techniques they did work, including a "mental alarm clock" and declaring intent to remember dreams.    I'll have to try this again for the health-related issues.
