As I can see, we have several common places as middle-west europe. An NR meeting in a paris cafe! Or an english pub! That would be cool! Or maybe Andy takes us to Brazil

Maybe that would be reality someday..

Yes I really liked it. The festivals I went to during my trip were a disaster but I really liked the Moroccan people and the atmosphere which was both relaxed and alive -- always with something going on. The best was the silence, something I haven't heard anywhere in Europe. I went there hitchhiking, which was cheap... but it may take a bit longer to do this from the US

it's weird but the idea has always kind of scared me a little.   Foreign languages I don't understand, dirty drinking water, strange diseases, corrupt police and governments that can detain you for no reason (anybody here seen the movie "Brokedown Palace" ?)........I don't know........seems a little scary to me!   

In all the countries I've been in, including those where you shouldn't drink tap water like in many South American countries, dirty drinking water is one thing that's never a problem because you ALWAYS buy bottled water which is usually sold everywhere and costs virtually nothing. Nobody, not even the locals drink the dirty water.

Strange diseases are far less common that you think, and the truth is you're probably just as likely to catch something nasty in America these days, particularly with all the contrails and what-not.

It's true that many police are corrupt but they are rarely a problem for tourists. The kinds of countries you are talking about here are, in most cases, doing everything possible to improve their image to tourists because they can bring a lot of much needed money into the economy. So tourists are rarely given hard time. Certainly in my experience anyway.

Believe me travelling is not scary. I can appreciate why you might say that because right now it's an unknown to you, and it's always the unknown that scares us. I remember the first time I went to South America (Peru) when I was about 21 and I was fairly apprehensive about it. But as always, the reality turned out to be completely different, and once you actually get to these countries you start to wonder what the hell you were ever scared of. That's not to say that problems don't exist, you always need to be on your guard and keeping your wits about you, just as you do anywhere else in the world. But I think statistically you're far more likely to be a victim of serious crime in the USA than you are in most South American countries.

For those of us Americans who haven't been outside the country, and have only traveleled around in the country?  haha

I have traveled around my own country however, whose states are often times bigger than entire countries in Europe and which has such a huge variety of climate / geography that you almost don't even have to leave and go anywhere else.   They have it all here........mountains, forests, plains, deserts, red rock country, sand dunes, oceans, lakes, rivers, the subtropics with palm trees and Caribbean water....major urban cities and podunk little towns that time forgot.....!    What's interesting about this country and its size and its diversity is that on the same day....within the same country.......it can be 50 below zero in Minnesota, 30 in Virginia and 75 in Miami.    There can be over a 100 degree discrepancy in the temperature around the country.......that's just nuts!    We have everything, so, this is the only place I've ever been.   Well, yet.  Who knows what the future holds....

If we could mark off states in the U.S. then so far I've been (or lived) in 26........

But I'm learning to be more outspoken, and figure NR is the place to put that into practice.

I hope you weren't offended. And you certainly seem - from what I've read - that you've learned a lot from your travels, experiences and listening to others.

Here's where I've been.  I've been to Hong Kong on a stopover - but I felt ticking China would have been a bit of a misrepresentation!!

Anyway, certainly no hidden agenda. Travelling is one of my biggest passions in life and I'm always facinated to see where people have been and hear about experiences.
