I don't watch TV, and I rarely go to major movie company pictures, but I had a chance to watch this TV series on dvd this week. Hadn't heard of it before. I think it reveals some interesting spiritual and social metaphor. Are you familiar with it? One of the characters "River" seems like someone we would enjoy at NR.

The show is about fringe culture in the cosmos around 2500BC. Rather interesting and very well done. TPTB have little tolerance for rebellious individuals and creatives. The show was cancelled after 9 weeks.

U.S. urged to prevent election rigging in Pakistan

U.S. policymakers must keep pressure on President Pervez Musharraf to hold fair elections in Pakistan next month or risk deeper chaos in the nuclear-armed country, an important ally in Washington's anti-terror campaign, experts told Congress on Wednesday.
A House of Representatives panel heard from leading South Asia experts that prospects for free and fair elections in Pakistan on February 18 were doubtful under restrictions imposed late last year by Musharraf.
"Maximally free and fair elections are required for near-term stability," RAND Corporation analyst Christine Fair told the House Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia.
"In the short term, the United States should work toward a democratic transition in Pakistan, not merely a democratic patina for President and General Musharraf," she said.
The United States should avoid abrupt moves such as abandoning Musharraf, or cutting off aid to military. But it must not allow him to engineer a fraudulent poll that would anger many Pakistanis, the experts said.
Musharraf, who took power in a military coup in 1999 but was embraced by Washington after the September 11 attacks, imposed emergency rule in November. Limits on civil rights remain in effect despite a formal end to the crackdown last month.
The United States should use pressure and incentives to prod Musharraf to reinstate the top judges he removed, create an election commission, modernizer voter lists and lift restrictions on political parties and the media, Fair said.
"Musharraf is very unlikely to take these steps, especially without a clarion statement, in public and in private, from the administration and from Congress that such measures are expected," she said.
Musharraf needs an election outcome that would prevent legal or political challenges to his staying in office as president, Ashley Tellis of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace told the panel.
The Pakistani president is expected to try before the election to ensure a victory for his allies in the Muslim League-Q party or to engineer a favorable outcome after the votes are tallied, he said.
A free and fair election that meets international standards was unlikely. But to avoid more unrest, the goal should be a vote that is "acceptable in terms of process and outcome to the Pakistani people."
To achieve this, the United states and others should "work with Musharraf and prevent the fixing of the election in an egregious way," said Tellis.

I have to thank the many individuals whos musick I used for this mix. At any one time there are around 4 to 8 tracks playing at once, and much variation. Within the 29 minutes of these two tracks there are Id say about 70 different songs from different artists, I lost count, many of which are so buried and hidden you might not be able to catch them. It is all one track, but I had to split it in two for myspace. Listen to the first and then the second as if it is all one. I have spent hundreds of hours on this and thousands of hours in other mixes of the past. I've been playing drums for 16 years and doodle with other instruments and drum machines. Latin fusion, afro cuban, metal, jazz, experimental, electronic, etc. But, this musick here is a sort compilation of certain areas that I draw inspiration from. I took many different songs and put them in an environment that made them seemingly change shape and texture, to become something totally different, to tell an intricate story through sound..... I will add a list of all the individuals whos samples and songs I have used in the multi layered subliminal sandwich at another time. Though I have to say one thing right now. The last 6 or so minutes on the second track is ALL COIL. The song is Track 4 from Remote Viewing. I use Coil a lot for this. It is the cherry on top of the pie. I feel I mixed it perfectly with the movements. Just a hobby (;

Not sure if any of you know of this band. They have been around for a while, started out with a very eclectic electronic-based sound. Kind of industrial I guess you would say but just too much weird and original sound for it to simply be called industrial. Now a days they have went towards the extremely hard metal sound with not much electronic influence but they still embody quite a few interesting lyrics.
My favorite lyrics though (and favorite album) are off the Transmission From Uranus (haha!) album.
If you're not into this sort of music you should at least read the lyrics!!!!!

*note* they sing in other languages than english at times so I am only putting in the english lyrics as I am WAAAAY too ADHD to try and translate everything at the moment
